How I opened my Korg Kronos to repair a Joystick Pitch Bend Controller detuning problem

  • See how I took apart and fixed my 1st generation Kronos 88 (almost 4 years old). During play, all the notes suddenly took a nose dive, detuned themselves, and went very flat or went sharp. The effect is exactly the same as if you were playing guitar, and I turned all the tuning knobs looser or tighter while you were playing. I researched the problem and found it to be the Joystick Pitch Bend Controller. I fixed it myself only because I needed it faster than a repair center could do it and it was already out of warranty. If you attempt this yourself, take seriously all the warnings in the video (in the titles as well) and do it solely at your own risk. I play Korg keyboards but I am not affiliated with Korg Company or any repair center. Contact Korg Support’s 800# for professional answers to your repair questions whether or not your Kronos is under warranty.
