  • Last week two motorcycles were hit by a bus while INSIDE the EDSA busway.
    The bus driver was immediately held for investigation, even if he was inside the exclusive bus lane.
    Riders know they're not meant to be in the bus lane because as soon as they see enforcers, they suddenly swerve back into the regular lanes.
    Using the bus lane might get you to your destination slightly quicker but you might also get hit and killed by a bus

      Yeah it's really a lot of tickets. Although it does seem to be reducing each day. So hopefully it means riders are starting to learn. Or at least they're scared of being caught.
      The problem is that it takes a lot of manpower. And that's only ONE thing they have to manage on EDSA.
      CCTV is also used for enforcement but a large percentage of motorcycles don't have license plates.

      More penalty fee collected means more tickets to be bought🎟️... And addition of enforcers equipment upgrades and maybe additional wage hike🤔🤔👍. From the kamote riders willing to be kamote and always the fans of MMDA🤣🤣🤣

      Batas trapiko po pinapatupad nila sa mga walang disiplinang motorista kung hindi sila huhulihin hindi malalaman na bawal ginagawa nila na kahit nakikita nila na bus only..wala talagang disiplina ngun po yung mga pinanbabayad nila sa ticket ng mmda kasalanan na nila yun dahil nasa batas po yan motorista din po ako pero hindi po dpo maiwasan mahuli..ngun po kung may reklamo ka sa mga ganyan idemenda mo sila gnun lNg ka simple diba sir..

      Everyday po ako sumasakay ng p2p basta walang barikada pinipilit pumasok ng mga motorcycle riders dyan sa bus lane kaya panay busina mga bus kahit solo nila lane titigas ulo pag nadisgrasya bus driver pa may kasalanan

      @Adela Dagohoy marami pong karatula na pang bus lang yan saka common sense na lang na pang bus lang yan. Matagal na siguro silang aware na may bus carousel sa EDSA. Again, pang BUS LANG yan. Paano kung madisgrasya ang rider kasi gigil yung bus sa hulihan niya at binangga? Yung kita, mababawi din yan saka hindi ba sila nahiya sa ibang mga rider na sumusunod sa traffic rules. Trina-try na ngang ayusin ang EDSA tapos may pasaway pa. Saan na lulugar ang bansa natin? Kahit hindi ako rider dapat sumunod pa rin sa batas.

      @Adela Dagohoy Kasalanan ng mga violators ang abala sa kanila. Ang mga sumusunod sa tamang batas ang totoong naabala. Dahil sa mga tanong walang disiplina ay hindi umaasenso bansa natin. Hindi reason ang kahirapan para lumabag sa batas.

      @Adela Dagohoy if you're having financial difficulty, don't drive in the bus lane because you're risking an expensive ticket.
      If there's traffic, just stop and wait like everyone else.
      There's many sides above and beside the busway. There's also a solid yellow lane marking.

      We should also teach Filipino children the virtues of discipline in our public schools.

    I see those guys doing a good job by enforcing the rules and help improve traffic flow. Over here in India, traffic police doesn't give a rat's ass about traffic management/rule enforcement and only focuses on revenue generation.

      The other night there was heavy traffic on edsa because a taxi driver abandoned his car, blocking the exit of Megamall and the first lane of the highway.
      I sat in traffic (motorcycle) for 2 hours to get from buendia to mega.
      I watched countless motorcycles abusing the bus lane and bicycle lane, to get ahead.
      Those riders create more chaos and more accidents which then makes traffic worse.
      So it is satisfying to see them apprehended 👍

      Confiscate the permit on the spot,suspect three License for 3 month . It is the only way to stop this crap

    Much respect to those traffic enforcers. Standing in the middle of Edsa takes some serious guts!! Literally risking their lives for the benefit of making a smoother commute for the people of Manila. Props to these unsung heros.

    I hope that MMDA is able to sustain these operations to clear the Bus Lane of violators... they really slow down the buses when they weave in and out! Bravo to MMDA and GA!

      That's what they don't consider.. the hundreds of thousands of commuters that are relying on that exclusive busway. They just always want to get ahead, whatever the cost.

    This is the reason why I would rather drive 15 hours on a long highway going from Rizal to Bicol, than drive for 2-3 hours in EDSA. In fact, mas magmamaneho na ako sa kahit na anong liblib na highway papunta sa kahit anong probinsya kesa magdrive sa Metro Manila.
    |Kung magmamaneho ka talaga sa NCR, dapat magaral ka. Hindi komo experienced ka ng driver sa probinsya o abroad eh uubra ka na sa EDSA halimbawa. Ang dami kasing special na patakaran dyan na di naman ituturo sa iyo sa driving school. Pabago bago pa minsan. Tulad na lang yan Bus lane na yan na dati ay nasa kanan, pero ngayon nasa kaliwa na. Be updated sa balita, magresearch kayo. Maging listo kung ayaw nyo talaga maabala sa huli.

      That's the thing... they say enforcers are hot on motorcycles but the reality is that 99% of the violators in the bus lane are really motorcycles.
      Same with red lights and counterflowing on one-way streets 🤷‍♂️
      Although tricycles and jeeps are also prime offenders for those last two.

    The Traffic Enforcement Dept- Should just installed Cameras - on the Bus Lane and captured all the violators- Licence plates will be recorded easily- No need to endanger the lives of the officers and save manpower- In Singapore - Even public buses had front cameras to record violators on the bus lanes and refer them to Traffic police Dept - From Singapore

      MMDA already use cameras for non-contact enforcement.
      But a large percentage of motorcycles are running without license plates.
      Often the plate is inside the compartment instead of installed on the back of the bike.
      CCTV is useless against vehicles that don't have license plates attached.

    Just increase the fine for motorcycle to p20,000, 4 wheel puv to p30,000 and p40,000 for private vehicles. I'm sure everyone will follow the rules of the road by then.

    Not to sound like a broken record but, the government needs to raise the penalty fees to ensure compliance and discourage repeat offenders. Because if first offense is 5 thousand pesos i don't think anyone would even dare break the rules. Also it would also make sense now since the government needs to raise funds

      The problem if you make the penalties too high is that people simply won't pay them. Unpaid tickets prevent you from renewing your registration or license.
      Many people with unpaid tickets simply stopped renewing their vehicle registration. According to LTO, there's over 13 million motorcycles without a valid registration.
      As for the license, depending on how much they owe in unpaid tickets, they'll just apply for a new one with slightly different details. Or drive without any license at all - which is pretty common.

    Philippines must make it mandatory for a candidate driver to take and pass both Theory and Practical Driving test before they are allowed to drive. Repeat violators should get heavier penalties and must lead to suspension and/or revocation of driving licence.

      That is now being required. They're also now requiring a refresher seminar/exam for those who renew their license. But some lawmakers are already working to strike that down.

    The reason motorcycles do that all the time is because we don't have a lane splitting violation here like in other countries where motorcycles aren't allowed to travel in between lanes. We should have that rule here since these motorcycle drivers practically do that everywhere all day everyday to the point where they are practically counter flowing against traffic

      That's the risk. If MMDA aren't strict on this enforcement, the exclusive bus lane will fall apart and the hundreds of thousands of commuters relying on that service will be in the same mess that existed before. No more 30 minute express rides. Back to 2-3 hours stuck in traffic.

    It's about time we up the fines for traffic violators that it would really hurts their pocket... Guess what... In HK China Taiwan and Singapore traffic fines are so high that every one obeys traffic rules even tourist going to these places are fined if they disregard the country traffic rules.

    Sana non nagkaron ng motorcycle lane. Nanghuli din kayo ng mga sasakyan na nag sstay no. Eh di sana nag sstay sa lane mga rider. Equal sana kasi mahirap sa rider yon hindi equal trato.

      There's no motorcycle lane on EDSA.
      Motorcycles and cars are treated the same, they can all use the same lanes.
      It's only the bus lane and bicycle lane that you can't use.

      I still remember spending 5 hours on the backroads because we weren't allowed to use the expressway.
      But I can only imagine how many crazy accidents there will be if they allow all these bikes to enter the expressway.

    heavier penalty, kahit hindi monetary or laki ng tubos. ung mararamdaman nilang maabala sila ng husto like longer suspension sa pagdrive. ung di agad pwede matubos lisensya para di gagawin at uulit ulitin

      LTFRB have GPS installed on those buses and can monitor their speed.
      Many of them are reaching 70 KPH. The speed limit in the busway is only 50 KPH.
      The problem is, those buses have a tendency to crash or hit the barriers when they reach 60-70 KPH.

    and supposedly these motorbike drivers have a license? signs that tell you not to use the lanes designated for buses, yet still disobey...keep adding to the budget by ticketing, then hire more officers with the funding from these offenders.

      There's no motorcycle lane on EDSA. That was removed a long time ago and riders are allowed to use all the same lanes as cars.
      The MC lane that existed before was non-exclusive. It was designed to.be shared with other vehicles.

    Sana lakihan na molta. Example 1st. 5k, 2nd 10k, 3rd 15k, if 3x na d kinoha motor sa impound dhil d mka bayad sa violation block list na sa lahat nang bintahan nang motor. Cno man nag bibinta nang motor sa kanila my kasong din o parosa.

    Tama. Hindi porket naka motor ka hindi kana pwede ma traffic at lalabag ka na lang sa batas. Dapat araw arawin talaga jan para ma displina.

      That's why I don't understand some riders. They really think they can go anywhere to get around traffic. Even the sidewalk.
      Sometimes you really just have to stop and wait like everyone else 🤷‍♂️

    Revoke ang mga lisensiya nang mga yan. Hindi sila karapat-dapat makapagmaneho. Dapat maglabas nang panukala o batas na ang mga repeat offenders ay 5x ang multa o alisan na tuluyan nang lisensiya. Kapag nagmaneho nang walangblisensiya kulong nang 6 na buwan.

    Ang Daming nahuli sa bus lane violation,ibig sabihin talaga niyan, hindi sila takot na mahuli dahil siguro sa mababang penalty,dapat po siguro na lakihan ang penalty nilla para hindi na umulit..Good job po manga sir mabuhay po kayo.

      The penalty was already increased P1000.
      A lot of them just don't expect to be caught. Either because there's no enforcer or because they plan to run away.
      Many riders had to be chased.

      They apprehend all kinds of vehicles including cars, buses, trucks, jeeps, tricycles, motorcycles and so on.
      But really 99% of the bus lane violators are on motorcycle.

      Typically the driver of the larger vehicle will be arrested for reckless imprudence. If they have a good lawyer and dashcam, they'll probably be okay, eventually.

      But most of the time I can't record that stuff because i can't safely move back and forth between the inner lane

    Higher penalty para matakot gawin uli. If p1000 lang yan paulit ulit yan.. For bus drivers safety. Gawin p5000 penalty ewan ko nalang if maglakas loob pa sumuway si juan dela cruz na. Motorcycle rider.

    Sir ask ko lang po.. Ang MMDA po ba EDSA lang ang sakop? Alam kong dapat priority nyo yan pero paano naman yung local streets? Kasi ho kung ang local authorities ang may responsibility doon at d naman na aksyunan, sana pati yun pasyalan nyo. Sa lugar namun sa Bangkal Makati particularly sa Capt. M. Reyes St. eh may mga naka parking ho eh premannte nang d in aalis o matagal nang naka park. D naman po yata fair sa Iba yun. Feeling part ng lupa nila ang kalye. Salamat po

      There's hundreds of buses driving around and around the busway (edsa carousel)
      They're moving hundreds of thousands of commuters 👍
      Commuters trips are now down to 30 minutes instead of 2-3 hours because of their exclusive bus lane.

      They apprehend private cars that enter the busway but it's rare. Most of the time it's really motorcycles doing that.
      And even in the parts of EDSA that have concrete barriers, the kamotes are entering the bus lane through the openings that were created for ambulances.
      With or without a barrier, you should have self-control and stay out of the bus lane.

      kapag nakakotse ang gagalang nila..may pa salusaludo pa..sa checkpoint ramdam mo rin ang diskriminasyon..motor lang pinapara..karamihan sa hinuhuling nakakotse nakikipagtalo sa kanila..nakikipagmatigasan sa pagbibigay ng lisensiya..minsan pinapalampas nalang..REALTALK tayo dito..kapag motor ang bilis nilang manghuli...

      An enforcer can literally consume a whole ticket book in one morning. And that's with multiple enforcers writing out tickets.

      Depende kung same area sila nahuli at kung LTO nakahuli nakarecord na agad yung ticket nation wide. Pero kasi kung MMDA nasa metro manila lang yang record o LGU's.

    Dati nagbigay sila motorcycle lane pero di nila hinohuli un pumupunta sa motorcycle lane , nagbigay sila bike lane huli kapag motor, naglagay sila bus lane huli ang motor, pero nun sa motorcycle lane pag umalis ka sa lane huli parin peru un pumupunta sa motircycle lane wala huli,

      The motorcycle lane that existed before was non-exclusive. Meaning it was designed to be shared with cars.
      That was the compromise made a long time ago, instead of banning motorcycles from EDSA.
      But that MC lane was already removed and motorcycles are treated the same as cars and can use the same lanes as each other.

    I hope MMDA impose 24/7 no contact apprehension on this bus lane and increase to 1k per violation and increasing per violiation. :)))))) It will be great revenue for the government. Pag wala MMDA dyan, dami nadaan motor. Yung iba nakakasunod naman pero karamihan kamote.
