    Thank you doc, can I just ask don't the salaries depend on the specialty you are doing?

      Thanks for watching and asking a very pertinent question. No, in the public sector the salaries do not depend on the specialty you are doing. The basic salary is the same for all. However, provinces may limit the commuted overtime grouping based on a specialty. The private sector payment does have a variation based on specialty. I will discuss this in detail in a future episode.

    You mentioned emmigration as a career option, could you do a video in future where you talk about the different countries that you can immigrate to? Maybe the most common ones or the best ones to go to...

    Wonderful content, thank you ! Please could you do a video on how the progression works within and between the different levels eg. specialist grade 1 to 2 and notch increases with the grade 1 batch, it appears that it is not automatic on persal.

    I googled the amount on neurosurgeon in South Africa (which was 65) as well as the number of oncologists (which was 190).
    Why are these numbers so low? Do most doctors decide not to specialize or are there limited resources available for training doctors in specialties?

    Thanks for this information. Very useful to see the breakdown. Could you possibly do one one let me know how one would calculate the salary for registrar programmes and specialities that do not have any associated overtime e.g. public health

    Nursing is the same everywhere the difference is that being a nurse in South Africa u are respected. The disadvantage of working in SA as a nurse we were over taxed post apartheid. Is what made me to leave the country. My bonus was taxed at 45%.over time also.

    • @InterncomservVlog
      @InterncomservVlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the tax rate is high as compared to other countries. I'm not sure about the respect aspect.You would know best. Do you think nurses are more respected in the public sector in South Africa or the private sector?

    Hi Manny. Love these videos. There are many Registrar MO's in KZN ie post registrar time but employed as MO (grade based on yrs post Comm Serve). Looking at the career paths as you've explained it seems they should rather be on Senior Registrar posts instead. Agree?

    • @InterncomservVlog
      @InterncomservVlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adarsh. Thanks for watching. I still remember the good times we had at PMMH. My first video is dedicated to PMMH. Lol. To answer your question yes its best to get a senior registrar post as soon as possible because in theory that is when you get the maximum benefit but unfortuantely these posts are limited and competition is high. They have to be advertised and approved by the HPCSA to get the S number.

    How does one become a consultant and what is the difference between a senior reg and a specialist?

    What's the salary like in private for specialists?

    Hey can I ask how much do surgeons and anesthesiologists earn and is it 7 years then I'm specialosing

    • @InterncomservVlog
      @InterncomservVlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All specialists in the public sector earn the same. If you are an anaesthetist or surgeon you earn the same only in private practise it differs. After completing your undergrad study , you then do 2 years internship, 1 year community service then 4 years of specialist training. So it takes a minimum 7 years of training before you become a specialist.

    Does sub-specializing improve your salary in the long run.?

    • @InterncomservVlog
      @InterncomservVlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It makes a difference if you get a senior registrar position immediately after specialization and then get a subspecialist post immediately thereafter, which is hard to come by. So if these windows of opportunity have passed it makes no difference in reality, as you gain 2 notches only in any case. In my opinion, subspecialization is more for self-improvement and knowledge. Taking up a supervisory role is better in the long run as it impacts on your pension.

    Are omfs regarded as medical specilists

    • @dhyrin
      @dhyrin หลายเดือนก่อน

      the speciality is recognized as a dental speciality, but it can also fall under medical, since they do surgical training, but i would assume they are treated and paid the same as similar medical specialists (other surgeons) within government/state hospitals

    Is there any chance for egyptian doctors to practice medicine in SA?

    • @MrTigga2008
      @MrTigga2008 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ......if u can get through all the red tape, racism and apathy that the HPCSA will throw your way. May be a better and easier option to try elsewhere.
