Thanks! The music was actually composed specifically for this movie by Bill Boutwell.I love his work. you can check it on his myspace page. This particular piece has a lot of depth and in my opinion the perfect balance between foreboding and hope. It is I think because he composed it in just a few days that it feels so right. I can hear Spontaneity and passion in his music.
I am in awe at the work. As a detention officer the meth addicts rarely look as good as his final piece...it is a disintegration of the mind, body and spirit. Thank you for doing this.
I don't think I've ever seen a video like this, one where the -process- had such an impact on me. I'm an art student and an aspiring sculptor. In my experience sculptors have a tendency to focus on product above all else. In this piece however, the art comes from the process, the transformation, something the viewer observes and feels. Simply beautiful storytelling. I hope to keep this video to remind me of that. I feel it has forever changed the way I'll approach my sculptures. Thank you.
My, what an abstract thinker you must be. Who would think to do such a sculpture , other than a pure genius. Well done my friend, and the message was so spot on.
I think the last "thin" (version) - the final and end result was brilliant - I must admit I adored the cloth of the first version but everything was indeed just just improved but reinvented and a totally new sculpture emerged. Brilliant. I salute your skills.
This video is so powerful and sad it brings tears to my eyes. The music drives it home even more. Only an artist with the skill, understanding and sensitivity of Philippe could bring this about.
Very interesting concept and peice. Well done! The little girl asking for her mother was heartbreaking because I have known people who had parent's who were addicts. It's scarring and effects the child more than anyone can know.
wow that had quite an effect. What a statement and using the music combined with sculpture and that little girl's voice. That was haunting. I hate to use the word beautiful when talking about the effects of meth but this is beautiful art. I hope this isn't art made from personal experiences.
I have chills watching this video. He knows someone who has gone through this, there is no doubt among those who have survived this. Those lucky enough not to experience this themselves -or by one close to them waste breath talking shit and trolling... Well done! A work of art in all the forms shown.
@FeatherWoodN713 I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope that you keep strong and move forward for your baby's sake. Do whatever it takes to keep your baby in a safe and stable environment. My prayers are definitely with you.
Captured a life times of experiences. In 4.54 minutes. Makes you think ! How tragic. Thanks for posting. Food for thought. Life can be absolutely dreadful if you don`t watch out for yourself. thanks again.
As I understood it's a message about people taking drugs and some of them have children so this video show us what some kid is maybe living, looking it's mother fading like a flower. Sad. But beautiful work! I'm impressed!
that was simply amazing, from one sculpter to the next, just the pure artistry is redicules, then with a meaning as deap and meaningfull as that, thats what art is
If that doesn't provide enough visual of what meth can do, I don't know what can. Very unique and I love how it shows each feature change drastically as you remove fat deposits and bring out the skeletal structure underneath. Where did you learn your anatomy from, any books/references you'd personally recommend?
The effect of methamphetamines ...or 10 years of housework, 3 kids and a beer bellied husband... Just for the record, and not to be taken for a cynic, twas simply beautiful. Great artistry.
An important video. The skill is moot, I've seen this work bfore but not this transition, the message and vision succinct and intimate. Moved me ~ Thank you.
amazing work, Philippe! I admire your work and learn a lot from it. Can anyone tell me, please, what is the guitar music playing here?? I would like to learn to play it on my guitar. :) Cheers
@KesherMedia Oh how sad! I'm so sorry for your loss. The pain of losing your wife to drugs :-( I know what thats like, I lost my husband to crack. As he went out on crack binges for 2-3 days @ a time, he would come home & look just pathetic & frightening. There's only so much you can do to help those people. If they don't want it, there's NOTHING that can be done. Either wait til they over dose, get arrested or get shot.
Merci PAM *********
My art teacher showed this to us in school. She warned us that it would be kinda disturbing. We never got to finish it, so I looked it up. Now I kinda wish I had taken her warning more seriously.

What a creative way to raise awareness of such an important issue. Thanks for sharing Philippe.

Amazing work my friend, keep doing what you're doing. At the end when the child's voice said "Mommy" . . . it sent shivers down my back.

Wow.... The sculpter is amazing... I don't think it could get any more real than that. Great Job
This video is so powerful and sad it brings tears to my eyes. The music drives it home even more. Only an artist with the skill, understanding and sensitivity of Philippe could bring this about.
this video was as engaging a sculpture tutorial as it was a riveting cautionary tale . good job!
Thank you for taking me on that thought-provoking emotional journey.
Absolutely Breathtaking Philippe! Thanks for Inspiring!

Wow, a very painful subject, shown with such skill. I am in awe of you Philippe.
*tears* that was beautiful. My cousin spent years on Meth... it is destructive. Thank you very much for sharing your talent in such a meaningful way.

Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing...
It's rare to find someone in the art field to oppose drugs, so I commend you for that.

i saw this in the late 08, just came back to this project now in 13. . . this time can't explain in words...well done Maestro.
Amazing form, proportions, realism, skill and talent. Very life life.
Wow, what a transformation! Seriously, this was amazing.
I agree. That should be a PSA for the dangers of drug abuse and the effect it has not only on the person themselves but the family as well.
What an incredible artist. Wonder how long the transformation took him.

Philippe Faraut is my most favorite sculptor. I am sorry, I wasn't paying much attention to the message, This skill in his hands, move me.

What a deep message! What incredible talent! Wow!
You have a special God-given gift... good work.
I couldn't bring myself to disfigure a pretty creation... Can you put her back, or failing that upload a backwards-playing version? Powerful, anyway.

Requesting details about the song you used in the video.
Brilliant artist.
