I know this movie touched a lot of people. A lot of you felt the emotional connection between him and his brother and mother. 90% of the cinema I was in left in tears, including myself. But it was more than just the story for me. I felt such an amazing connection to the young adult Saroo, because his acting was everything I've ever felt. I'm an adopted child who still hasn't met his mother and brother, and I'm around his age. I can honestly say I've never cried this much in my entire life. The feelings he portrayed, the pain he went through, the haunting thoughts, the feeling that constantly reminds you that you can't forget - yet you still make yourself think about it less... But sometimes, you can't help it. In those cases, you don't sleep, you don't function as others expect you to. You feel distant, closed inside your own head, with no way out. Then it sets in. The fear of the unknown. Not knowing what you'll find when you do return. The one line in the movie which struck me the most is one said by his adoptive mother. After he admitted to his mother that he had been trying to find his village, her words absolutely broke me. She said: "Oh Saroo. I really hope she's still there. She needs to see what a beautiful young man you've become." Absolutely gut wrenching. Amazing movie, amazing cast, and an even more incredible story.
I am adopted as well and I cried throughout the entire movie. I feel like I can hardly even review it because my eyes were watering the whole time. And at the end I sobbed uncontrollably when everyone else was leaving the theatre. You definitely weren't the only one who felt such a personal connection with this story. I hope that someday you find your biological family as Saroo did.
James Houghton-Brown it is the soundtrack. The "score/soundtrack"-differentiation only comes into play when there are two albums available, one with songs and one with the original instrumental music
I think one of the best films of the year. Everything about it was spectacular; photography, story, acting, music. It was stunning. Tore your heart out.
This is the type of movie that can make you cry, but above all, can teach you about life. Watching the movie I could remember my home, my city, my friends, my street, my family. And the little Sunny Pawar, the kid that plays young Saroo, is an amazing actor. He was amazing during entire movie.
I thought I was the only one crying throughout the movie. I am in absolute awe with this film's direction, cinematography, acting, score and everything that I forgot.
This movie had an impact on my whole life and my thinking.I feel like I want to change something about this world. I have a good heart and will use it to help people. Honestly this soundtrack speaks to my soul it's incredible.
I was a foster mum to 13 different little ones ages 0-3. They were all adopted, or returned to unsafe homes, and I miss them everyday. I cried very hard during the whole film. To all those who are adopted please know that you are loved.
Saw the movie today, cried my head off. Amazing story, we should all be happy that we got to live in a good place. We should all be thankful for what we've got, even if we don't have things that other people have. I learned that having a phone or a big house is not important, having a family is the most important thing. If you read this comment, than remember that you are loved and remember that you have people who care even if you are not there.
I don't rememver the last time I admired a movie in its entirety as I did with Lion. literally perfect; from script to performance to music...you don't cry because it's a sad moving story but because you somehow know how they feel ..just perfect.
One of the most powerful movies i have ever seen.***** . A big standing ovation to Sunny Pawar....Never knew i could cry in a movie. Dev Patel is excellent as well but the kid just stole my heart.
This piece is a great example how an excellent soundtrack enhance the movie and moves it to an upper tier, also making it memorable. When I listen to this piece, I remember the whole plot in a blink.
Oh boy, what a powerful soundtrack!!! Emotions are written on all over my face while listening to this. And this didn't win an Oscar. neither the movie. so sad.
I took the daughter (12 years-old) of a friend of mine to see this great film with me. I told her it's the amazing story of a boy in search of his family and roots but not a story for children because it's so sad. Yes, it's so sad but full of hope for humanity. Greetings from Switzerland
Probably the most moving and emotional movie i've ever seen. I thought it really deserved an Oscar. La La Land was fun and all but this movie and soundtrack was at a totally different level.
After watching this movie, my 15 year old son came home and learned it by ear, it still moves me to tears. Truly beautiful piece and and magnificent movie.
Just went to see Lion, it's the first time in my life where I am positive someone was cutting onions inside the theater, really strange. And they kept cutting more of them periodically throughout the movie...
Alex same feeling. on the verge of tears for most of the movie, something that rarely ever happens to me. i think more people should see this movie. havent seen any reviews from chris stuckmann or jeremy jahns
This is how we seek God...Our lost home, our lost paradise... This movie, this story is amazing. I would listen to this soundtrack for hours. Masterpiece.
This movie had me tearing up right until the end, then I couldn't hold it in any longer. I haven't cried that hard in years, let alone over a movie. Absolute masterpiece.
This piece gives me such intense nostalgic feelings: Memories of sitting in the movie theater with family members, that familiar aroma of buttered popcorn filling the air, the usual bag of M&Ms and medium sized fruit punch in my hands, that awesome stretch you get when you stand up with the credits rolling and another piano piece playing. Movie theaters hold some of my best life memories, and one of my greatest fears is that they will one day become obsolete.
whenever this track came on, id get really emotional. And when it played near the end of the film, just like at the beginning, all the memories could be easily put back into my mind. Tracks like these are really powerful and important when it comes to telling a story.
simply beautiful...i have a little toddler and cant begin to imagine what I would do if i lost her and more so, what she would be going through all alone so young. its heartbreaking to know this happened...the music in this really lifts every tiny hair on your body, heart renching but equally as beautiful .
Yeah I agree with others, the film was beautiful. The ache for home, for his mum and brother was palpable, played fantastically by Dev Pattel. He's got my respect! And even Nicole Kidman did a good job I thought. For some reason her performance was also palpable; I got a sense of what she smelled like. Weird, ay? Yeah. Weird! Great film, 5 stars, and the music has brought me here so it's clearly fantastic too!
Warm greetings from Poland. I read the book, I want to see the movie, listen to this music and I can not comprehend the whole story, how it is moving up to tears
A film korszakalkotó. A zene zseniális.
I couldn't stop crying. The movie and music touched my soul so immense deep........Stopped breathing when Sharoo was united with his mam. Thank you so much! It was wonderful.
Bravo.
what absolutely beautiful comments below - each and every one of you .... touching , powerful , just like the film - and the score , well that's just sublime...
This movie truly changed my life and the way I look at things, it's such a beautiful yet sad true story. I will never forget the way this movie made me feel and how appreciative that this persons story was made into a movie, thank you.
The movie was the reality of live in India dont Forget it. The casting is perfect i hope that open the eyes and the heart of our world that we all are childeren of God.

Luka Brščić Thank you for sharing your story. May God bless you and your family 🙏
I hope you find your family. God is with you. Kisses from Spain 😙

Luka Brščić i know how feel about how this is more than just a film to you
@Luka, wishing you will find her one day or meet her in your deepest dreams to satisfy the part you missed. Good luck and life to you.
This soundtrack deserves an Oscar !!!!!
its a score not a soundtrack, and it won't win, La Land will (not saying it should win)
James Houghton-Brown it is the soundtrack. The "score/soundtrack"-differentiation only comes into play when there are two albums available, one with songs and one with the original instrumental music
and even then you can call the score soundtrack
This score is wonderful, but Hurwitz work was something else.
True!!!!
I saw the film with my mother. She adopted me. I was just crying ... I'm so proud of my parents!!!
Here's hoping you find what your looking for. Godspeed
Amazing.
Laser _ It's a gift that I feel so good now .. Thanks to my parents for everything..
Memsy 92 🥺❤️
I bawled my eyes out every time this played in the movie, I couldn't keep my emotions in check, it was just so beautifully executed.
I think one of the best films of the year. Everything about it was spectacular; photography, story, acting, music. It was stunning. Tore your heart out.
ureshiiiiii same here exactly. great movie . touch my heart and mind!
ureshiiiiii That moment when he finds his mother is so beautiful. You can think in how important is your mom for life.
Crikey, at the end I had to pinch myself super hard, concentrate on the women in front's hair, just to stop crying like a baby.
Same! I've seen it a total of five times and I cry every single time
This is the type of movie that can make you cry, but above all, can teach you about life. Watching the movie I could remember my home, my city, my friends, my street, my family. And the little Sunny Pawar, the kid that plays young Saroo, is an amazing actor. He was amazing during entire movie.
Beautifully said. I felt the same watching it. Powerful and transcendental.
That young actor deserves recognition as well. He's brilliant.
This is the most beautiful movie I've seen in my entire life
I cried from the first minute to the last one in this movie. I loved it so much!
I thought I was the only one crying throughout the movie. I am in absolute awe with this film's direction, cinematography, acting, score and everything that I forgot.

i've played this 42 times today and cry every time
Sophie Pop glad I'm not the only one.

Lucky you. Lucky all of us who can find and also live is this different world!

iraqidolphin1 Thank God for caring people like you.
Thank you very much. Everyone should help out a child in need. Be a big brother or/Big Sister, volunteer, or donate to a child welfare organization.
Saw the movie today, cried my head off. Amazing story, we should all be happy that we got to live in a good place.

Just finished watching it with my mum on mother's day. What amazing mothers he had. Absolute true love.
Saw it 2x now. Incredible story! A real connection for me as an adopted child.
