Back then, there were all these slo-mo pool riding films/videos. When I finally made it to a real skatepark, and was rolling in to a bowl, then quickly slamming into the other side, I had to figure out why everything was happening so fast.
Love them Sims "pure juice:" wheels. It was my first brand of precision skateboard wheels. Bought up in La Habra California and never used any other brand.
We built an 8 wheeler out of spare parts. Had to just make a flat skateboard from a 25" x 1" plank with a little sliver of wood nailed at the back for a kicktail but you actually could skate it. Even on our ramp. It was a fun experiment for a few weekends. I remember the official Toft 8 wheeler board. No telling what those are worth these days. Anyways, great times and great post! Thank you for sharing!
I used to skate with Lonnie at SkaterCross in the late 70's early 80's, he ripped the 8skate and inspired me to build my own which I loved to ride and all my friends thought I was crazy! Lol! Epic times! 🙏🙌🏼
@Lamongello Johnson There's a public skate park across the street from C.I High. It's called"the Bradford Pinkard Skate Park. I'm trying to figure out how to get it renamed after Lonnie. I wish they would have built these back when I was indestuctable. I sure do miss those days of mowing lawns just to get enough to skate that day.
@Lamongello Johnson I was there one day when a few of the Z-boys were there. I think Shogo saved my life that day. I was standing outside the snake run watching him and a couple others messing around in the last turn when I saw, out of the corner of my eye something coming at me. I turned just in time to see Shogo grab a board out of mid air right before it would have slammed me in the head. Whew! That was close!!
I don't know much about him but my first vert board was a Lonny Toft,I was proud it was the board I learned on,vert, and it was light and I was flying my. 4 foot airs on,when I stepped up to the ten inch board I started missing the lightness of my Toft...it was 8.5 × 32inch,really light too light I broke 7 in a row, doing dumb shit jumping out of the half pipe ,but the lightness was worth me being a little bit smarter riding it....
Man if u don't think I'm telling you all the truth I actually have one of those team Sims jerseys it was bad ass I wore it all the time skating pretending I was on the team...I just gave it away to some young kid and he didn't give a rats ass about it punk kids no appreciation for nothing you could give them the moon as we say in America and they won't appreciate, people life ...thanks man cool stuff...
