“You won’t be able to use the miniplayer” Oh yeah, because it’s inappropriate for a child to use it Edit: just to let you know, I know that it’s not TH-cams fault for making these changes because of Coppa, but They’re still the ones responsible for making these changes, for example they could’ve simply turned off data tracking from children’s videos instead of making it easier for themselves by just disabling the properties from the video itself that tracks data. And even if that’s not the case, this still makes no difference from normals videos that do track data because kids are likely gonna watch these videos anyway, so these changes are just completely useless and is just making it harder for everyone

@@itsamsyar9970 Technically, IT IS. TH-cam just said that Miniplayer tracks your data, and you can't legally track the data of children. So the current-version of Miniplayer is an illegal piece software tracking your data without consent (minors can't give consent)... it's a kind of malware, simply of the kinky type rather than the destructive one.
Lol this comment and everyone else that says this is ridiculous. TH-cam is trying to help us. This is not their fault nor did they even want this to happen. I firmly believe that the government is at fault protecting children (doing their parents job mind you). The US is a democracy and the people should have a say in how they raise their children. @@Epcat77 It is every bit TH-cam's fault. TH-cam was caught breaking a law that's been on the books for 20 years by collecting data on children. TH-cam has refused to allow a General Audience setting as offered by the FTC in the settlement because TH-cam wouldn't make as much money as they would on content not intended for kids. Creators have never had any control over the ads that are shown, nor the data collection. Yet TH-cam has made creators 100% responsible for comments others make and whether or not children watch their content. Channels that make content for children might as well shut down as many already have. When a video is marked as intended for children, the video is buried by TH-cam so that it can't be found. Comments, which are one of the main drivers of a video, are disabled. Notifications are turned off. The video can't be found through a search anywhere. Monetization is reduced by up to around 90%. So, it's pointless to post it to begin with. Plus, a creator can get into trouble if a child appears incidentally in a video if the creator has that video or channel marked as not for kids, and TH-cam's wonderful and always 100% accurate (not!) AI says otherwise because of the presence of a child. TH-cam could have handled this much differently by accepting responsibility for their own actions instead of pushing it off on creators.
1:08 The COPPA rule for playlist options is: For “made for kids” the only way is to save videos is click liked videos. For the playlist options, you must click liked videos to save videos at all times if it’s too stressful.
This sucks. A lot of content that’s not for children is being marked as for children, and because of that I can’t use miniplayer or leave a comment. I can’t even save it to a playlist. Damn you Susan.
As an adult, when I would like to listen to music that is "made for kids", it's disengaging that I am unable to search for more music. Also if I wish to make a playlist that has songs in it that I can listen to around kids I can't make it. While these restrictions are well intended, the causes of some of these restrictions are worse for example if I cannot make a playlist for songs that I can listen to around kids, then I risk songs being played automatically that are definitely not for kids. (Again, this is me listening as an adult, while being mindful of my surroundings) I would recommend the review of some of these restrictions and maybe a possibility to activate some of these features if the person confirms they are of age via the already existing age verification process.

It's bad enough they've made videos unable to be added to playlists or played in miniplayer for no good reason, PLEASE don't encourage them to make it even WORSE.
It's honesrly so damn annoying. Couldn't they add at least some kind of feature that let mature users still use the autoplay feature, as well as parents who think it's fine for their children to have autoplay, especially in the case of autistic kids? It's so annoying we have to put up with this. I'd gladly move to another video platform if it meant letting TH-cam die, but we as a societx would have to decide which platform to go to
I don't see how removing comments and disabling the miniplayer helps to protect the privacy of children. If anything, I think comments should have been kept enabled with swear words blocked.
CozmicPlayz Minecraft I can help you with that but this only work on mobile devices ( android and iOS) and The TH-cam app on chromeOS -First choice the video that you want to add to a playlist and copy the video link - search that link on TH-cam - Don't click that video but click this( three dots in a vertical line) it looks like this ":" to show more options and then click " Add to playlist " and done - I know another trick that can help you watch that video in miniplayer but it only works on iOS as far as I know

Still probably one of the worst things TH-cam has ever added to its platform. The reason for that is not simply because it differentiates between "kids content" and "other content" but the restrictions it forces on everyone You can't commend on a kids video You can't add a kids video to your playlist (which sucks especially for music) You can't comment on a kids video You can't VIEW comments on kids video You can't even watch a kids video in the mini player. The solution to this would have been as simple and easy that it is laughable. If TH-cam had a real way to validate the age of the person watching the video, like google did with its ID implementation TH-cam wouldn't need to differentiate between kids and other content but rather differentiate if the person viewing the video is a kid or a grown up person. It's such a lazy way of implementing a "safe space" for children and all it does really do is restrict everyone else. But I guess it isn't the first time that TH-cam screwed over this platform. The only reason people are accepting all this bs is because TH-cam has no real competition.

Why are comments disabled on “made for kids” videos? That probably the #1 reason people hate “made for kids”. Comments are made for videos by people expressing on what they’re saying about the video.
Frank Sandoval Coppa isn’t the problem that started this though. It’s Google/TH-cam’s fault for bringing us into this mess with targeted advertising to kids. I hate the COPPA law as anybody else on here does but we cannot forget that Susan and the entire TH-cam staff brought this upon us in the first place.
I subscribed TH-cam Music in hope to curate a playlist for my kids, seems like I’ll have to unsubscribe now since I can’t do what I intended and go for either Spotify or Apple Music to do so. Not sure what’s wrong with making a private playlist for my kids’ benefit.

Look, I'm as against this as you are, but it's not gonna change. TH-cam is a stubborn corporation because they know the influence they have as a monopoly, and when it comes to following the law they don't really have a choice anyways. This will go the same way everything stupid TH-cam has done in the past did; they'll get a lot of backlash, people will say "we're not gonna stand for this", TH-cam doesn't give up an inch because they know they don't have to, and eventually it all rolls over and goes back to normal after a couple of months at most, with everyone just accepting whatever the change was. Only thing any of us could do would be to switch en masse to a different video website, but no other video website of this size exists in the west. Creators don't want to move to a smaller platform since they'd basically be resigning to having a much smaller audience than usual, and viewers don't want to move to a smaller platform since there's less diversity in content. It's a vicious cycle that keeps us under TH-cam's rules, and none of us can do anything about it. TH-cam knows this is the case, which is why they don't care about what we think.

Nah, TH-cam will always be the most popular platform, whether we like it or not. It sucks but it'll take a much longer time for most people to switch to another platform, though I'd be fully for it
I just believe that it's really rude for them to do that even though it doesn't protect anybody. It says the reason that they're doing this is to protect children which makes no sense. Why should we not be allowed to save a video for later because it's meant for kids like I want to be able to watch my origami videos or I want to be able to watch some TH-camrs that play video games. I don't feel like it's very fair that they made this choice without contacting the general public of TH-cam. This choice has made it very difficult for me to enjoy TH-cam which is the whole point of TH-cam itself. If something that is made cannot complete. The thing that it's made for it is useless. It's very unfair and unnerving. There's also a whole bunch of other things and other functions that I can't use and I can't understand how it works. The The explanatory video did not help me at all making over complicated and I did not understand which features were allowed for children and which features are not allowed for children and I don't know which side it generalized me on.

I honestly think this idea is pretty good. The problem comes when you realise bots do this. Then you find out that anything to do with animation is marked for kids even if it doesn't make sense. To fix this simply hire real moderators and not mark animation as just for kids.
This an important approach in trying to maintain and perfecting our culture and most of all it makes TH-cam more secured to children From watching restricted videos.

I'm currently learning Hindi right now and I finally found a video that explains how the vowels go with the consonants and I wanted to add it to a playlist that I could come back to and look at every day so that I can get these rules in my head and I can't even do that because these educational videos are considered kids videos. It's so frustrating to find a good video and can't save it so i can come back to it, especially if i came across it on accident. As an adult, when I would like to listen to music that is "made for kids", it's disengaging that I am unable to search for more music. Also if I wish to make a playlist that has songs in it that I can listen to around kids I can't make it.
While these restrictions are well intended, the causes of some of these restrictions are worse for example if I cannot make a playlist for songs that I can listen to around kids, then I risk songs being played automatically that are definitely not for kids. (Again, this is me listening as an adult, while being mindful of my surroundings)
I would recommend the review of some of these restrictions and maybe a possibility to activate some of these features if the person confirms they are of age via the already existing age verification process.

Still probably one of the worst things TH-cam has ever added to its platform. The reason for that is not simply because it differentiates between "kids content" and "other content" but the restrictions it forces on everyone
You can't commend on a kids video
You can't add a kids video to your playlist (which sucks especially for music)
You can't comment on a kids video
You can't VIEW comments on kids video
You can't even watch a kids video in the mini player.
The solution to this would have been as simple and easy that it is laughable.
If TH-cam had a real way to validate the age of the person watching the video, like google did with its ID implementation TH-cam wouldn't need to differentiate between kids and other content but rather differentiate if the person viewing the video is a kid or a grown up person.
It's such a lazy way of implementing a "safe space" for children and all it does really do is restrict everyone else.
But I guess it isn't the first time that TH-cam screwed over this platform. The only reason people are accepting all this bs is because TH-cam has no real competition.

Look, I'm as against this as you are, but it's not gonna change. TH-cam is a stubborn corporation because they know the influence they have as a monopoly, and when it comes to following the law they don't really have a choice anyways. This will go the same way everything stupid TH-cam has done in the past did; they'll get a lot of backlash, people will say "we're not gonna stand for this", TH-cam doesn't give up an inch because they know they don't have to, and eventually it all rolls over and goes back to normal after a couple of months at most, with everyone just accepting whatever the change was.
Only thing any of us could do would be to switch en masse to a different video website, but no other video website of this size exists in the west. Creators don't want to move to a smaller platform since they'd basically be resigning to having a much smaller audience than usual, and viewers don't want to move to a smaller platform since there's less diversity in content. It's a vicious cycle that keeps us under TH-cam's rules, and none of us can do anything about it. TH-cam knows this is the case, which is why they don't care about what we think.

I just believe that it's really rude for them to do that even though it doesn't protect anybody. It says the reason that they're doing this is to protect children which makes no sense. Why should we not be allowed to save a video for later because it's meant for kids like I want to be able to watch my origami videos or I want to be able to watch some TH-camrs that play video games. I don't feel like it's very fair that they made this choice without contacting the general public of TH-cam. This choice has made it very difficult for me to enjoy TH-cam which is the whole point of TH-cam itself. If something that is made cannot complete. The thing that it's made for it is useless. It's very unfair and unnerving. There's also a whole bunch of other things and other functions that I can't use and I can't understand how it works. I honestly think this idea is pretty good. The problem comes when you realise bots do this. Then you find out that anything to do with animation is marked for kids even if it doesn't make sense. To fix this simply hire real moderators and not mark animation as just for kids.
This an important approach in trying to maintain and perfecting our culture and most of all it makes TH-cam more secured to children From watching restricted videos.

I'm currently learning Hindi right now and I finally found a video that explains how the vowels go with the consonants and I wanted to add it to a playlist that I could come back to and look at every day so that I can get these rules in my head and I can't even do that because these educational videos are considered kids videos. inforce youtube kids. this whole thing with videos getting marked as kids content, especially older videos. and the miniplayer turned off for them is ridiculous and annoying.
I still don't know why I can't save this to my favorites list in order to remember to show it to my grandchildren.
