VCRs do not have component video inputs (red/green/blue RCA connectors). To record a VHS tape through a source device with component video output, you'll need to use the source device's composite video output (yellow RCA connector) and connect it to the VCR's input.
It might have been hit with a power surge that effected the circuit board, but somehow left the fuse intact. I have seen this at least twice. I guess the lesson is always use a power strip.

I have the Symphonic equivalent to this, but it was all black and the VCR is mono, but the VCR side eats tapes.

I just bought one of these and it doesn’t work at all no power and fuse is good
