    That introduction regarding the remote control saved me from purchasing. Thank you. There is no way I can be faced with all those functions. I do not have cable. I only use the VCR/DVD machine to watch movies. That's it. But excellent proof of machine function.

    I have one just like this, the audio for VHS playes, but not the video, any tips?

      Make sure you have the cables plugged into the correct audio outputs. The labels are small back there.

      @@pasttimetech just figured out it's because whomever owned it before me left it on DVD mode and I don't have the remote to change it back, thanks for the advise though man

    Turns out it's stuck on DVD, but we don't have the remote, would a universal one work with it?

      Just about any universal remote will work.

      Just buy an oem one from ebay they don't need reprogramming

      @@califaern3sto That isn't good advice at this point in time. Most require additional finagling something else purchased and hooked up - if that even works - as there is no "VCR" button on them. Also, I have a VCR/DVD machine that will only function with the specific, original remote control - and it is nowhere to be found.
