    Not sure if it matters much, but you are missing part of the tubing for the pump assembly. Also, I found that keeping the heater in the back filter/pump area was keeping the water from reaching the 78 degree range. By having the heater in such a tiny space, the water around it was 78 degrees but the water in the main part of the tank was staying at 70-74 range. I even went as far as buying a second thermometer thinking my original thermometer was defective. After I moved the heater to the main part of the tank my thermometer finally reached the 77-78 degree range. Hope this helps, if others are having the same issues.

      Hey - I left the house off because I wanted the pump to be closer to the surface hoping to create better water flow with more oxygen. It works either way. : -)

    • @hzuiel
      @hzuiel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @joshelisha Unless the water flow was extremely slow I don't see how this is possible. Even a very weak pump should circulate all the water in an aquarium this small, multiple times per hour. The pump it comes with is 47.5GPH, so even if it was only doing half that, it would still be circulating the entire tank volume every 10 minutes. I don't see how any sort of buildup of heat could occur at that rate. Water absorbs heat very well, assuming the water is moving through, there's no way this can happen.

    The half round cutout goes backwards to de light base bracket and cables and the 90 elbow should connect with the clear tube segment and then to the pump at the bottom of the tank. Ive had about 4 tanks of this line, they are great and you can even if you are super careful and clever... remove with a new blade, all the back section and gain more usable space with a submersible mini pump or a sponge filter.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's weird. : -) I wonder if it has something to do with the touch pad? I would just make sure it's "on" when you plug it into the timer, and the timer is set to be on when you plug it in. If it turns off and then doesn't turn back on again, it may be the touch pad?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny thing - I DIY all my own filter media. I buy filter floss from Jehmco.com and just shove it in the back. I don't use carbon because there are plants in the tank. If I was using carbon you could certainly try a filter sock and buying activated carbon online. It will be way cheaper and there is plenty of room in the back to do that.

      My Betta does the EXACT same thing! At first I was concerned, but he's doing great. He swims right up to the food as I feed him (he's scared me a couple of times because he's an aggressive eater & I've gotten more precautions so he doesn't accidentally jump out.
      I had a tank before that was similar, very modern, no lid just like a waterfall feature in the center. He jumped out twice. The first time I found him in-time and put him back in the water. The second time he wasn't so fortunate. So I guess that adds to my paranoia with the feeding time.

  • @kerrypitt9789

    I have to think this would be better for having Betta's, as opposed to Betta Balls or clear plastic containers. Personally I would have decorations and a fish, such as a Betta or a great white shark! I would love to see it replace all of the other "Cup of water," Betta homes. Far more humane! If you needed to you could buy a lamp that would sit beside it and hang over to the centre of the tank. Change the bulb, that should work.

    Hey Jason, great vid I've been interested in one of these myself as a less exp alternative to the Fluval spec 3. Did you end up using that piece of vinyl tubing? I believe it attaches to the pump first then the elbow at the top of it, allowing lower placement of the pump in the back for better flow. But being as it's such a tiny pump, I can see why you may have omitted it. One question-hows that heater? I've heard mixed things about it and wanna know before I go out and grab one. Keep up the vids and check out my channel if you want!

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics

      Yes, the switch is supposed to help control water flow, but in reality it does very little.
