It's amazing how HUGE Southfork became inside after those early years. In the late 70's the bedrooms could barely fit a double bed and dresser in it. 🤣
I've been to the real Southfork and it is not anywhere near the size as shown on television. In fact, there is only one bedroom upstairs and four downstairs with no long hallway at all upstairs. It's rather small.

JR also managed to come out ontop in fight with one of Sue Ellen's latter boyfriend (survived might be more accurate) when her boyfriend fell off the balcony. He walloped Cliff a few times but yeah generally he preferred to stay at the back when a fight broke out but when cornered he would throw down.

It really was huge in its day I’m from the uk and I still remember my best friend and I leaving a youth club disco early one night and running the entire way home so we wouldn’t miss any of it😁 I think it was the night they were going to reveal who shot J.R. You’re absolutely right though some of the acting in it was atrocious🙈😂 Especially in the later seasons when the storylines had also became ridiculous, just the same way that most of the American soaps of that time ended up going but when it started in the 1970’s most people absolutely loved it. I can remember my mum loving the outfits that the actresses wore and I think it was a bit of escapism as well. I recently watched it again and even though it’s obviously dated I still enjoyed the early seasons but couldn’t make it past season 9 for reasons most people who saw it will understand I don’t mind suspending reality for a film or tv…but that was just a step too far even for me 🛌😴💭
Let me tell you, Bobby was no “wussy”. He nearly beat a man to death - stomped the poor bastard in the throat and the stood there and watched him die. And if the paramedics hadn’t revived the guy he *would* have died. Also there was an episode where that ranch hand cracked a Louisville slugger over Bobby’s head. It didn’t even phase him, it just made Bobby angrier.
