Glad you called out Lionel on those $300 baggage cars. I'm calling out Lionel on those Vision Line $500 Diner Cars and other overpriced passenger cars as well as Lionchief Plus 2.0 locomotives that are now priced almost as much as some of the Lionel Legacy diesels. It's as though they are thumbing their noses at the enthusiasts that have kept them afloat all these years.
It’s becoming a rich man’s hobby as the amount of kids disinterested in the hobby grows, the volume of trains produced drops, thus companies like Lionel have to raise prices to make up for the volume loss. It’s actually a dying hobby, or at least a hobby that’s slowing down year after year. Kids want video games. The cell phone and iPads are their “hobby”. The train boom of the 1980’s-1990’s is over, the train boom that gave us so much innovation, competition etc. I suspect the hobby will survive but it will increasingly become more expensive if you want to buy new product. Just my opinion.
Surprisingly, the PRR Y6B is actually accurate to an extent. During the second World War, the PRR tested one or two Y6B’s over the Pittsburgh Division to see about building larger mallets for freight service. Classified as the HH1, the Pennsy decided that they weren’t gonna follow through when the F3 was rolled out of LaGrange. Thats a super cool model but not 2k cool. Solid review Nick, can’t wait to see what you pick up.
Wow. Some beautiful stuff in there but the prices are heart-stopping. Oh well, I suppose Lionel's found the niche of the market they want to go after and it works for them, great! Personally I'll be sticking to Post-Wars, MPC and LTI Era products with some used MTH and Williams thrown in. Nothing personal.
Great catalog review Nick! My favorites are the CNW SD40-2 and the GN Y6B. I don’t have the space for a model railroad but I admire your passion for the hobby and thank you for sharing your amazing layout with us 🚂
Nice quick review Nick. I can never get everything I want in a catalogue so I don’t mind the volume II catalogue offering many reruns and refreshed models - I never struggle to find something I want. Happy to see the SD40-2 finally offered with kinematic couplers - hope they offer these in more road names soon. Finally gonna add that N&W Y6B I’ve regretted passing on last time.
13:54 I'm pretty sure this is the first Tennessee Central locomotive we've ever gotten in O Gauge. Also I absolutely love that Texas & Pacific usra mountain! It's supposed to be based on a T&P class M-2. And Lionel did a pretty good job trying to recreate it.
13:41 this is the first time we have ever gotten a really good Seaboard steam locomotive in O Gauge. *I have been waiting for somebody to make a seaboard steam locomotive in o gauge for the longest time.*
Great catalog review nick but i have to agree that price for those baggage cars is ridiculous and true inflation has gone up but i dont think its gone up that much either
Nick, I agree, both the Pacemaker and Lionel Lines Lionmaster J3A steam engines are interesting. I will preorder the Lionel Lines version and am contemplating (big fancy word there, lol) the Pacemaker version. A little concerned about what color the red will be in reality. It looks a little like the candy apple red on the Christmas Light Express steam engine which won't work for me. Maybe once they arrive, if the color is okay, I will be able to pick one up.
I hope that Pats Trains will offer a custom run CNJ USRA Mikado from this run just like he did with the MTH Premier version only. The Lionel version will be the correct one for CNJ. They only had USRA heavy Mike's, not lights.
I like the Area 51 set, but it seems to demand its own table/layout, which is hard on resources. Some will merge it with their Halloween layout, but Sci-fi and Supernatural are completely separate in my mind. Too bad they didn't do the lighted track this time.
The Central Region Futura N5 Cabin and it's later trainphone Vision Line variant already have my name on it! Besides, both'll fit lovely behind the respective era M1s I own, LOL. Also those X31s as well. I'm taking one of each circle keystone variant... Best get to pre-ordering!
@@ganrailroadI’d wholeheartedly would love to see a union railroad custom run in my opinion! They owned very beefy 0-6-0s and o gauge yinzers in this area would flock in droves for em!

Was hoping for RBMN 2102 Restoration Version , but there’s nothing in this catalog that speaks to me that I have to get , even though RBMN 1983 is in the catalog , but I know that PGHTrainFanatics wallet just went bye bye in this catalog , I think Lionel really wanted to take your money lol
There's nothing in this catalog that really interests me. That's good because I can focus on paying off my credit card this winter. If anything, I might get an N5 Vision Pennsy caboose IF they fix the location of the smoke stack.
Leave a comment what you honestly think and please like the video 👍🏼 Thanks, Nick-

All 3 Soo Line Engines. I've already pre-ordered Legacy Station's Custom Run SD70ACE in the Air Force "Thunderbirds" scheme. GORGEOUS!
That’s awesome! They’re sharp

I’m sure he will be doing a black bonnet something too 😂😂
I suspect this is the first time the blue conrail 4800 has been made accurately in o scale.
I think so👍🏼
i agree the prices are a bit insane
They’re getting out of line on allot of stuff. Like $499 for a starter diesel engine. That’s only like $150 less the their legacy diesels.
It's cool that you mentioned Traditional Scale items Nick. Nice review 👍
What’s up BROSCALE?! Thanks for doing this review! I need to get back into my layout soon 😂😂

So is the SD40-2 Old tooling with incorrect cab and truck placement?
