HRPM Projects - Ford Falcon XR6 - Ep5 - BA BF ICC Replacement

HRPM Projects: The 2007 Ford Falcon BF XR6 resto series - In this episode, we replace the old ICC unit to a colour screen one! ~not without its challenges.
To check if the unit works;
1. Hold [AM] + [MENU] buttons simultaneously to have the radio working for 5mins
2. Once confirmed that it works - take it to Ford to activate the unit.

An quick "fix" for the code error is to hold down the AM and MENU button, this will clear the error for about 5 mins, long enough to test out the screen and the radio/cd controls. You can properly fix the code error using Forscan.

Where did you manage to find a colour screen unit like that in general my falcon needs a replacement but I can only find the old style screen or unit's with more buttons than my current one has it currently has one with the same layout as your new one and in yet to find a matching replacement

I've read on ford forums that you have to unplug the BEM from the drivers side to the left?

Haven't had any issue with how it was done on the video. However if unplugging from the drivers side and working towards the left is the way..can't go wrong with that either

You didn’t have to change any looms for the premium sound?

no. its plugs in the same. the only thing you need is a the forscan app to unlock the code via the OBD2 port

I am having trouble putting the ICC back in. It is hard to align plug and socket of the audio connection at the back of the ICC. Any tricks in that? The video does not show that part.

hey mate, during the removal process, the big white female socket on the car can move left or right which prevents the ICC from going in flush - you will need to ensure its realigned properly after a couple of goes and it'll slot right in. - the video does not show that part as its is physically impossible to get a camera in there while re-installing. - good luck, you'll get there!

I have yet to do it. Ill include it in my next video. Ive been advised its a $100 exercise..it may vary between dealerships..

@@HRPMProjects I went to an independent auto electrician and he did it for me for $60 in 2014 for my BF XR6. Don’t waste your time on the Ford dealers to get it done - if their service department was anything like the dealer closest to me, they’re arrogant, talk down to you almost to the point of reprimanding you for trying to modify it as such. It’s even worse when suddenly you realise you know more about your car than they do, as I found when I took my Territory for its first service.

If you get a ELM327 OBD2 module and the forscan program you can do it yourself

Did you also have to disconnect the battery before removing the ICC that came with the car?

yes you must.

@@illegalgovernment simple answer to that, the whole car/body is "negative" and there are heaps of "positive" wires running etc, during the process of an install, there is a potential for a positive wire and "negative to come into contact which may blow certain fuses or components - to avoid the headache - disconnect battery.
