The talent, the chord changes, the fingering, the knowledge, the sounds, the methodical thinking, melodies, structures, progressions, theories, Emily was a prize musician and one day I will play with her, (when my time comes) It's unfortunate she went too fast for all of us to see what potential she would have had, she was so awesome!.
Back in them days even the women used to say that women can’t play lead guitar like a man. Nobody but Bonnie Raitt. And Emily said, “on the inside, I’m a 40 year old black man with a big thumb...’
No kidding but Sister Rosetta Tharpe pretty much invented a whole lot of lead guitar and the great session bassist Carol Kaye got her start as a jazz guitarist. Too many great players got overlooked. :/
Yes, everyone who heard or hears her agrees - here was a fabulously talented girl. Such a touch! And a real feeling for bop. Rest in peace you gorgeous girl. That last shot of her face is the face of an innocent!
I saw her first show with Guitar Explosion with Herb Ellis, Barney Kessel,Tal Farlow and Jimmy Raney. They were all kind. After she did her first album Firefly I saw her again at a show and she signed the album. Regretfully it disappeared some years ago.
Unbelievable player - in my opinion, one of the best to EVER play jazz guitar. This is not just a cover of D Natural Blues - its a medley of phrases from three blues heads. The first is D Natural Blues and the third is Blue Monk, but I'm not sure what the second is...
She was so great. I wish I knew of her when she was alive. I would have loved to see her live and tell her how much I loved her playing. RIP Emily. You were one of the best.
I have a somewhat curious story with Emily Remler, it happens that a while ago I began to fall in love with jazz and its gutiarists, through Spotify I came across Emily who immediately captivated me with her sound, the album was Firefly and I was amazed, at the same time I was surprised for a while because I didn't understand why I hadn't heard of her before, she quickly became one of my favorite performers and after a while I did a little research on her life and her story, I was a little devastated to know how it ended.
The whole thing is really good. She instructs and plays a min9 chord and a nice 6 chord pair while showing her exercise to help it all swing. It's a vhs tape, it's very cool.
Emily was in relationship with me and we were very happy together but we spilt because she couldnt give up drugs. Im too old now but still i miss her and i always watch her videos and just miss her alot. I am very sad she is gone😥but the memories with you always remains with me💔

The “pure” guitar sound!! Whitout effects… there’s nothing better!
Wes, Pass… and a lot of her self ! WOAO… what great we can enjoy in this short video. Just amazing! Emily, you are an amazing musician.
R.I.P. 🙏🤝
may she rest in peace. Been gone for almost 32 years now but her music will live on forever.

Great, I'm happy to see this video posted! Emily Remler is still one of my idols, too bad her life ended the way it did! RIP Emily!
This is a cover of D-natural blues by Wes Montgomery. Emily was very adept in sounding like Wes, something that I always envied about her. RIP
she sounded like Emily, she was influenced by Wes sure, but her sound was her own
Yes in B flat
Man, she was such a bad ass!
Indeed. I don't have this much cool in my pinky!
I wonder if my Nothing Else Matters intro would impress her
If it’s extremely well played, maybe ;)
She cut her teeth on Johnny Winter and Hendrix so maybe for a few seconds.....
Hahahaha
03:54 That "hAh" is all.

Some articles say that Emily and Susanna McCorkle are sadly forgotten..not really..not to those with taste in music.
The best video on YT? Thanks Em.
She is brilliant
Emily is my new dream girl
Loving that little bit around 2:13.
Wow this is incredibly tasteful. Rip gone too young
Fantastic.
The influence of wes montgomery is huge here. Great playing.
It's Wes' tune...D Natural Blues played in Bb.
... and she also plays with the finger picking technique and way of improvising of Joe Pass...
Fantastica ❤️
I love this so much
Just WOW!
Those wes chords were great Bravo.
