+Black Panther Moses is not His kid, God is not like His creation, besides, God tells Moses that he is His messenger and that it is his duty from his Lord. God is forever most merciful and all-Wise.
As a Christian, I think the creators did an excellent job in portraying God's love, holiness, glory and also His anger, which is what God had to Moses, when he questioned Him and didn't obey His commands (Exodus 4:14). Yes, God is loving and gentle, but He can be provoked to wrath and indignation, if we're not careful and take sin lightly and the creators did a fine job in showing that. The music by Hans Zimmer really elevated this scene tenfold for me. It's the closest musical expression to what I can imagine being in God's presence feels like.

I really wish this movie was more popular. This scene is just PERFECT. The animation, the music, the light and fire from the burning bush, how can anyone not think that this scene is amazing?
Well you are technically watching an adaptation of the Bible, or scripture. That scripture or bible is the Word. The Word of God, specifically (to lazy to find the verses sorry lol). You are practically watching the word of God which will always be comforting, but not all scripture will comfort. Awesome part is that all the history mentioned is true.
I wish they would make more animated movies of this caliber. Religious movies have a stereotype of being campy or cringey, but this movie is just a great movie. It is tragic with two brothers that care for each other, but become enemies. Powerful in the message that no man should ever own another man. Truly a masterpiece of a film.
2:05 I love that when God says “I have seen the oppression of my people in Egypt and have heard *THEIR* cry.” And it’s Moses’s cry that God repeats for Moses to hear, underlining that Moses is one of his people.
@@dcfreak32 This isn't the Christian God. Gods are, inherently, ethnically based, every culture having their own 'pantheon' of gods, which helped them and often them alone, since they were 'their' people. "I have seen the oppression of MY people". The Abrahamic religions only differ from the 'norm' in that there's only a singular deity to worship, and it wasn't until after Christianity that God became so encompassing...which, of course, isn't recognized by Judaism. As this is the God of the Jews, then obviously he doesn't really give a shit about other peoples, since they are outside his domain. Religion is fun and ethno-centric like that.
"Who made man's mouth? Did not I? Who made the deaf, the mute, the seeing nor the blind? Did not I?" This makes me want to cry, it literally sends a chill down my spine to hear the manner God speaks with fear and trembling.

+Frosty videos Um actually you can hear the other cast members whispering Kilmer's lines. You see originally, God was going to be played by everyone in the cast, but it made it seem like many gods instead of one God. And then a woman and her daughter voiced God, but it made God seem to female. And so they settled with God being voiced by Kilmer while the rest of the cast whispered behind Kilmer.
+Frosty videos the point of having Kilmer voice God is that God made man in his image. I think the way it works is that God presents himself with the voice of the person whom he speaks to, but it has a supernatural sound to it. They sound similar, but God's voice has a whisper or echo to it whenever he speaks.
"I shall be with you Moses." Followed by Moses breathing, his expression, his smile with a tear running down his cheek then running as fast as he can to tell Zipporah; that right there is a man who has truly experienced & been touched by the divine. He doesn't understand but he is comforted, excited, terrified and enraptured

@user-zg8ov2zh2f I get your point but for me personally, it would be impossible to be comfortable with a power that terrified me, even if is my own power.
I honestly envy my ancestors like Moses and David for they were able to speak and hear our first parent. I always tear up when God comforts Moses and tells him I shall be with you always watching and caring for him. I will love and cherish this movie forever.
You do know the old testament foreshadowed something better to come, we have full access to a relationship with jesus when the veil was torn. He still speaks to us today. I dont think a burning bush is a common occurrence but heed his voice, if you are one of his sheep, you can indeed hear his voice
Can we all agree that the scene where God motivates Moses is just one of the most upbeat scenes in cartoon history? This movie is so underrated in every way
This scene captures God's personality perfectly. Notice how whenever he speaks, the voices of heaven echo him as if echoing his glory and purpose in what he declares and proclaims. Whatever he says, it is. Whatever he says is done is done. For me, watching this scene, when God said "I am that I am" there was an instance of recognition, like he was familiar, and it's because he is, he created all of us. And he is, the Great I Am. Never changing, constant, self-sufficient and self-existent. He doesn't need to depend on anyone or anything. Amazing👏
@Reyes R Tellez Even when he kills innocent children? By the way, insulting a person just because he disagrees with you is very unchristian. I may be an unbeliever but I'm a good nonbeliever. You on the other hand are a very poor excuse of a Christian.
I love how they animated the fire to be honest, the way it moves, you get that it's fire, but it's also something more, something not of this world, I get chills from this scene every time, I can't imagine how Moses must've felt, speaking with God like that
If you look at the patterns the light casts on the walls, it doesn't even look like firelight. It looks like the patterns on the sea floor that the sunlight makes.
It's a nice story but in all actuality probably never happened, At least as it's portrayed in the Bible. There is zero documentary or archeological evidence to support anything in the book of Exodus.
I've had a moment like this. God never spoke to me but appeared in a dream as my favourite animal (a white tiger) and I was so terrified I curled up in a ball the same way Moses did. Then all of a sudden he cradled me like a parent does to comfort me and I felt instantly at peace. The crazy thing was I woke up straight after I was in the same position I was in my dream and I saw this white mist/fog float away from my body and slowly dissipate. I've given my life to Christ ever since.
Amen. I called out to God in my room and he revealed to me, I felt peace over me, it was like I went to heaven and all wickedness left me. I didnt know God was even real because I found the Gospel from a comic I was reading. I have since followed Jesus. I am ex Buddhist.
That's so cool! I think it might have been a white tiger because white, spiritually, could mean pureness or stainlessness of light, the entire color spectrum which emanates out from a singular source which created all light, all frequency which our universe manifests out of. Tigers, in dreams, are very powerful symbols as well - power untamed, ferocity, energy... and you saw God this way.
When I saw God in a dream he was coming down the steps of heaven. The light was so bright behind him and I tried to kiss his feet but was unable to because he was so big. He had socks on, a robe and I couldn’t see his face since they say seeing his face will kill you. He gave me a pillow that I dropped into a abyss and he picked it up like it was nothing. It had symbols on it and one of them looked like a pentacle. The ones ancient Christian’s used to wear.
@@psychedelicpayroll5412 I never had anything like that. I could feel I was on Earth but at the same time in heaven, the body on earth was weeping even tho I didnt want to cry, it just does. Then I begged God not to return me to earth and he did because he wants me to spread the Gospel and all negativity left me and I felt like I was a child again before I was physically abused nor fell away into sin, I dont hate anyone anymore. It was like the first time I saw snow. I ran around the house saying “God is real, God is real”. This happened even before I knew who God is nor anything about Jesus. I thought he wasn’t real but he showed me he was and my life is complete. I had to surrender what I had and that was my Life to God if he reveals and so he did. I didnt want to live anymore so that was all I had. Had God not intervene I wouldnt be alive today.
When I had another dream about heaven. I was going insane staring into it with the naked eye and not spiritual. I saw the wing shadow of a top tier angel and I kept screaming make it stop. And the fact you didn’t remember family or your life says a lot. My mother is lost and completely fixated on the dead family members watching over us thing. But not in a healthy understanding way. She only mentions them and not God or Jesus. She told me to pray to them one time which I refused and made me wear a deceased relatives jacket to a job interview for “good luck.” She always mentions prayers but I don’t think she does it. But after she mentioned praying to them I am now concerned with who she is truly praying too and hope she doesn’t do it at all while lost. She feels her mom communicates with her favorite numbers or something too. And last but not least. She doesn’t believe hell exists and that it’s already on Earth. She still of course believes in heaven though. She is so lost I don’t even know how to approach her with the truth. I tried baby steps like explaining things. I even tried to explain the elite but she didn’t care since she loves political propaganda. My current last straw was a biblical movie about Apostle Paul. She fell asleep on it even though it had good conflict and story telling. She saw 2 seconds and didn’t want to watch it. Then she said go ahead and slept through most of it. I understand she was tired but I’m pretty sure afterwards she was fully awake for her political propaganda.
@@mryan4452 God in the Old Testament wasn't so merciful. He really said that He was 'sorry' for creating the Humans when He saw us commiting sins, living and behaving like beasts. But he spared humanity because of Noah and he even allowed Noah to preach and warn because according to scripture Noah spent around 100 years building that thing, and they still rejected. God has feelings too, and He felt sad that his creation rejected Him, a being who is where good comes from with a deeper love for them then anyone could comprehend, to follow a being who hates and wants to see them destroyed.
From the beginning of God saved Moses from the Pharaoh army who was going house to house taking infants and throwing them into the Nile River, when Moses real mother put him into a basket. God redirected the basket to Pharaohs daughter. God saved Moses for his reasons and purpose. He even saved Moses from the guards who were sent by Pharaoh after he heard Moses killed one of the slave drivers, and saved him while Moses was walking across the desert. God intentionally led Moses to the Jethro Priest of Midian. My main point God was with Moses from the beginning since his birth. Protecting him, guiding him until God told him his purpose.

@@chloeknight3558 In the commentary of the Ten Commandments, Charlton Heston came up with the idea of God being voiced by himself in the burning bush scene as its already stated that God speaks in the voice of the one who hears Him. Its only when he received the Ten Commandments from Mt. Sinai when God showed more of his glory that He gave the booming voice of, well, God.
I understand you. I had a very rough time in my life and when I was called back to God and Jesus, this scene ended up on my recommended videos. Of all the words spoken in this beautiful scene, not strike me more than that simple phrase, "I Am that I Am." Five simple words that speak the truth of the Lord better than a thousand others. It is pure, perfect, undeniable reality. He is all that is, all that was, all that shall be. He is the Lord of all, God of Heaven and Earth. I do like that they had Moses and God’s voice the same, to me it was like a symbol that who’s voice should God have other than “your own” the only voice that you can never truly hear in person but only through a recording.
if you try to think harder... you will see that there are ''two persons'' in your mind, the first one is of course you, the second one is God. He is the voice which is more silent than yours.
God still reveals to His children today! In New York in the spring of 1820, a 14-year-old poor farmboy named Joseph Smith wanted to know which Christian church to attend. He went out into the woods to pray, and was immediately attacked by an unseen demonic force. It held him bound and filled his mind with darkness. Joseph cried out for help, and the darkness was banished by God and His Son, Jesus Christ appearing to Joseph. Such care and dedication for such an underrated masterpiece.
Ye, while the bible made him to be more of a dick, killing newborns and causing other destruction upon ordinary Egyptians going about their business, all coz their king wouldn't agree with him.
The part that gets me, is how he comforts Moses like a true father after having to get a little stern with his child, assuring him that he's safe because he'll be right by his side, through this difficult task. Amazing scene.
the makers of this movie said that they have done so purposefully to give the idea that the God they wanted to portray in this movie was more than the almighty, voiced by Morgan Freeman type, but an intimate and personal kind. the God that they wanted to portray was the one that was with and within Moses.
Yes, Val Kilmer voiced both Moses AND God. But I u listen carefully, you can hear whispers speaking in unison with God. Those voices are the the major cast members whispering under Val Kilmer.
The one detail I’ve always loved is the fact Moses never wore his sandals after that, it’s to show that not only the place he interacted with God is holy ground but everywhere he goes is, as God said that he will be with him when he goes to Egypt.
If you listen closely, whenever God speaks in His normal or strong tone, you can always hear the constant whispering (echos) in the background. I think that in itself is just beautiful writting in voice acting. It's showing God's two sides at once. His soft and hard sides. Even as He's scolding Moses, he is still whispering. It's like as He doesn't want to shout because its not in Him to shout. And then He speaks softly to comfort him after knowing He scared him; even though He tried to whisper it at the same time. This scene is by far one of the best animated scenes Dreamworks has ever done. The movie is a masterpiece.

How is there no proof of an almighty being that will one day insure that only the people who believe in him are brought to a land of pure joy and holyness while the rest of his creation is burned and a moon of blood dots the sky, a beast rises from the oceans and kills all who don’t believe. To only send them into eternal torment that smells of burning sulfur. Give me the proof. Have a burning bush talk to me. Send those ten foul plagues down and harm and kill millions of innocents that have nothing to do with him. Prove it to me that he too is not guilty of death. Hell he killed a man trying to make sure his covenant didn’t fall. He forced a man to nearly kill his own son. He flooded his creation for people who didn’t believe. We live in a world very similar if not identical to that world of Noah and has a man told us in great detail how we will die? No. All that was said is that he is coming soon. But gives no proof, only a book written by man.

Two brothers did not become enemies. Aaron tried his best but the people made a golden calf to worship.
Okay, but Christian movies aren’t made to be stereotypical or for entertainment, they’re meant to be made of a message about God and the Gospel.

@@dcfreak32 yep rip trans atlantic slavery never happened god just let it all go by.

@@dcfreak32 This isn't the Christian God. Gods are, inherently, ethnically based, every culture having their own 'pantheon' of gods, which helped them and often them alone, since they were 'their' people.

A still, small voice.
The only thing I didn't like about God's voice is that it was Val kilmers voice who was also Moses so if I were blind watching this film id be confused as hell. The delivery was great but just to similar to moses's
The Matulaak Yeah I think that unbelief ticked God off. when he started questioning God.
It's mind-boggling what Moses must have felt. I can't even conceive what encountering God like this was like for him.
You love easy
I mean it's a great story, but if you actually think this happened...
I just felt peace over me, It felt like I went to heaven and I couldnt remember anybody including my family members, its like they never existed.

The way God says "you" is so gentle...which shows how much he values Moses.

Somehow watching this scene makes me feel like I’m praying more authentically than I am capable of in my own spirit.
10yrs later and Nothing but goosebumps and tears! We serve an amazing God! 🥹🙌🏾

Seeing scenes like this gives me goosebumps
Like my body is vibrating
3:20 " Oh, Moses." That's the Father right there.
He is somewhat apologizing for yelling at his creation. Even the father can humble himself in front of those he created
Does Han Zimmer get to anyone else? SO GODLY HIS MUSIC
Even God laughed when he read this comment. 😃
Just recently he made the soundtrack for Empire A.D. Which is based on the book of acts of the bible.
Hans Zimmer and John Williams have no other parallel
The music in this scene truly makes you feel like you’re standing in the presence of God.
Moses: "How do we know your plan will work?"
God: "I'm literally God bruh just go do what I say"
😂
Nice one. BTW, judging by your profile pic (and the video you've watched) I see you are a man of culture as well (That IS a Spy Kids reference in your profile pic, right?).
my profile pic is indeed a reference to Spy Kids, depicting the thumb henchmen from the film. I find their absurd appearance amusing yet comforting at the same time. Only 2 people have ever commented on my profile pic, and I'm pleased to meet yet another man of culture on this platform. good stuff @@CrystalKingdomGeneral4942
I really love how God really is like a father he will yell but then comfort you because he love you and only wants what best for you
Notice also that there are two voices. The dominant voice is male (Father) but the undertone is a female whisper too (Holy Spirit.) "I am that I am." The Hebrew word for God literally translates as "that which is" and the thought of it brings me to my knees. The GREAT Spirit.
Please uppercase the G in God ❤
It was beautiful how he had a tear drop after his meeting with the Creator.
This is such a beautiful, beautiful movie. I had the privilege of seeing it three times in the theater, the first time on Christmas Eve (1998). I'd never been so spiritually moved by a film in my life.
What would I give to be allowed to experience God only once in such a way in my life..........
Me too. I'm glad he sent the Holy Spirit but, I would love to see something like this.
Seek Him out. Have faith and patience, and He will reveal Himself and His purpose to you in a way you will surely understand. I know, because He did so for me.
Seek, and you shall find... This aren't just words my friend. Open your eyes.
Give your life to Jesus and be baptize y’all he loves you don’t forget that
To be honest, if the father speaks to me personally like what moses and jacob experienced? I’d probably black out.
Every time I see this clip I always feel the Holy spirit. This was such a wonderful movie. I would watch this almost every Friday night as a child. And even when I was in my 20s I would still watch it.
my goodness i just noticed that tear going doing Moses's face at the end that....imma cry with him now
People often associate the voice of God as both booming and authoritarian. But when this voice came... I felt such power. For it is written that such power can also come from the most gentle of whispers. I LOVE this movie and I love even more on how they depicted God. Such care and dedication for such an underrated masterpiece.
Ye, while the bible made him to be more of a dick, killing newborns and causing other destruction upon ordinary Egyptians going about their business, all coz their king wouldn't agree with him.
The background music in this scene brings pure chills. It’s filled with so much emotion and majesty
The part that gets me, is how he comforts Moses like a true father after having to get a little stern with his child, assuring him that he's safe because he'll be right by his side, through this difficult task. Amazing scene.
This is very uplifting to look at this scene from a grown-up point of view. You realize just how vital this scene really is.
no matter how many times i watch this, this will always makes me cry.
I never noticed till now but the person who voiced Moses, also voiced God in this film :3
Oh yeah yournright
jo williams Yeah, yo. XD
All in all, this was a beautiful scene, and a beautiful score.
the makers of this movie said that they have done so purposefully to give the idea that the God they wanted to portray in this movie was more than the almighty, voiced by Morgan Freeman type, but an intimate and personal kind. the God that they wanted to portray was the one that was with and within Moses.
Am I the only one who noticed that god's voice sounds a bit like slade from teen titans?
Not in him to shout? Isn't this the same god who killed every first newborn in Egypt🤦🤦 religious people...
That's not his fault
@@mryan4452 Imma be honest, I'm not knowledgeable enough to debate this subject with you, the only thing that comes to mind is the fact that while God gave them a chance (the whole blood on the door thing), the Pharaoh didn't. The Pharaoh's actions were more on the line of senseless killing. Anyways, that's as much as I can say about it.
@@mryan4452 the Pharaoh’s sin and stubbornness is what led to it. The 10 plagues escalated the more Pharaoh continued in his hard-heartedness and oppression of God’s chosen people. If he let them go and repented earlier, God in His mercy would have relented. It’s the death of the firstborn that finally led Pharaoh to letting God’s people go
@@JakeRuzi I was pointing to the irony of the OP claiming that it 'isn't in god to shout'. If it's in him to murder babies, shouting certainly wouldn't be outside his character.
This scene is such a work of art. The burning bush looks soft yet unworldly. The voice of God is gentle but commanding. Then the music goes from unknowing to triumph and then back to soft.
I love this
In the Bible and in the other texts, Moses and God are constantly having these emotional back and forth arguments.
Sometimes God gets pissed and just wants to kill everybody, but Moses intervenes on their behalf
And I absolutely love how they gave God the same voice as Moses, because.... spoiler alert.... that's how God talks to you
So you're saying Moses made god a nicer being. I'll say God was testing Moses's love for his ppl more instead of Moses Tryna make god nicer
@@billross9132 Testing implies uncertainty of the outcome. I always found it funny that the Bible uses that word so much while talking about God. Does he not know everything that was, is or will be?
@@RedKnight17133th god does but ppl certainly don't. We don't know our fate as being tested ourselves allows for self reflection and the chance to show who we r in times of hardships
@@billross9132 And he doesn't need to do it if he knows everything. He doesn't need to see who we are if he is "The Alpha and The Omega, The Beginning and The End; The Almighty, does he?
And we do, don't we? If he says we're being tested, then he's already told us.
See, that makes no sense. God doesn't need to "test" anything if he already knows all things.
He knows what we'll do before we do it, he knows if we're good or evil before we become so and he knows if we'll end up in his kingdom. The names of "His Chosen" are already there. You can't say one thing and then expect for it to mean another.
@@RedKnight17133th but we can't comprehend the future without experiencing the lead up to it. So if we say get rewarded for our deeds without doing it, we won't be thanking ourselves or realising the significance of it if we aren't aware of what we've done to deserve it. Imagine is like Moses was chosen if he didn't first act in ways to show his love for the Jews
This is my favorite part of the film. Has me praying and crying every time I watch and listen. This is very powerful. :) Thanks for having this uploaded. 😢❤
I know it's only Val Kilmer, but every time he speaks as God, I get goosebumps!
Wait... Iceman from Top Gun was playing Moses and God in this movie? I wish I paid more attention to the credits.
Hands down one of my favorite movies ever. I had forgotten all about it until I started reading exodus and remembered this scene from when I was a kid. Watching it again brought up that same wonder I had when I watched it back then. What a phenomenal scene to think an animated flick can make something seem so real. The way he reacts “you’ve chosen the wrong person” just brilliant.
3:00 through 4:05 This is always the scene that aws me. It shows God's power, his might his glory. He could force Moses to do as he wishes, because he is so powerful! And yet, he instead shows his love and mercy by consoling Moses and promising to be there for him. Goosebumps, but the cool kind. :)
What a beautiful scene along with the animation... Only God knows what He commands of us, and despite us not knowing what the future holds we must remember to trust in Him 💙
I am helpless at this point hope he will show me the way. I want to become capable.
This scene in the story is so beautiful.
Val Kilmer’s voice is just perfect for this. One of the best scenes ever.
When I Heard God Get Angry At Moses, I Burried My Face In My Hands And I Started Crying. But, I Have Nothing To Fear.

It don't matter how many times i watch or gow old i get. This brings tears to me evey rime i watch it. The Lord is wonderous and Worthy ro be praised forever and ever. Praise be to the King, the creator of the universe and all things in it. GLORY TO THE LORD WHO CAME TO US AS A MAN AND GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US THAT WE MAY HAVE SALVATION! Have mercy on us Lord!
My favourite movie by far, watched this my whole life and I cry every time at this scene, truly emotionally uplifting
This has to be the most perfect depiction of The Most High that man has come up with so far(in my opinion). But I love this movie though.
I just notice a flame lifting and caressing Moses' face to get him to look up!!!
Beautiful!
Inspiring
I saw this at the movie theater years ago
I was deeply moved by it
This part, in particular, brought me to tears.

“I will never leave you.”
Nor will He forsake us

I love how God is portrayed as firm, yet infinitely loving and compassionate. That is who He is.
All to the glory of God. He is on the throne. The time to repent is now.
sure ill do that
once god repents for killing innocent children that is
fucking asshole
God didn't kill the children, the murderers killed the children. So quick to blame god for all the bad, but not once for the good. Shame.
atheist how moronic are you people? God doesn't kill innocents he only punishes the Wicked! those children died because The Egyptians refused to listen it's their own fault not God's
@@ponypond3875 God does not kill innocent people. If you are refering to the first born that were killed by the 10th plague, you can blame Pharoah for that. God has authority and power to execute judgement when we disobey Him.
ofcourse22 yet those children had nothing to do with pharaoh. It’s stated in the Bible that god loves all his creation. Did he no create the Egyptians? Did he not give humans free will to choose how and whom we believe in. If god truly existed and loved all his creation then the death of thousands of children and an eternity of torment for not bowing down to a vengeful and angry god would not exist. If he truly sent the man Jesus down to save us how is it that the Bible, his word, has been rewritten over thousands of years.
The entire scene of God and Moses shows the power and strength of God, but also His love and mercy. I love you, Father. 😊🙌
Mercy? Are we talking about the same god?
@@dcfreak32 yes
@asura2877 So all the times God killed by the thousands was he showing his mercy?
Sometimes when I feel like my life is hopeless and I’m beyond redemption I watch this clip and it just reminds me that God truly can use you for the better and thinks so highly of you and loves you so much. And that to me is something so remarkable.
I will love and cherish God forever ❤

I wish he would show us his spirit nowadays, just like here... Everytime I see this, I cry, cause it's like he's here with me. With us...it's like he's speaking to me in here...
There's a sermon about listening for the Holy Spirit talking to you during prayer, called The Believer's War Room by Dr Charles Stanley. Maybe that will help you? :) Prayed for you too
“The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God's eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing"

I miss when animated movies were this good! Everything about this film, from the animation to the music, is just so wonderful. I'm certain that today's animated films have plenty of good attributes themselves, and there are many who enjoy them and who have worked hard to create them and I'd hate to discredit that, but in my mind the era of animation that comprises movies like The Prince of Egypt, Tarzan, The Hunchback of NotreDame, etc, will always be my favorite.
can I just say that this is the most powerful scene of all time in this movie. it is in my opinion this best realistic parale of the story of the ten Commandments. and the amaimtion is so life like it's unreal. for all of u 90's babies out there this was the movie to watch during Christmas and Easter time. now I know that this isn't a bible versus bit this is one of the favorite quotes.
