    I've had a 5s for a while and it's amazing. No problems and amazing battery life and performance.

    I have had my iphone 5S for a week and really love it. It charges very fast and battery life for me is pretty good. 51/2 hours to 6 hours of use time and all day standby time. It's also very fast and the Touch ID works perfect.
    I also considered the LG G2 and I think it would have been great too. Everyone in my house has idevices so I just decided to stay with Apple.

      TrentSki80 everyone in my household has an iDevice too, but I decided to buck the trend and go with Android...went from iPhone 4s to a Galaxy Note 2 to a Moto X...changing to Android was the best decision I made imho.

    • @cnkilts

      I have no problem with android. I really wanted to get the G2, but just couldn't pull the trigger. Hope you love your phone.

      And I have absolutely no problem with iPhones or iOS, ir the people that use them. The iPhones are great for a lot of people, just not me. It all depends on your usage scenario. E.g my mother would be just lost on Android, so iPhones work better for her. People shouldn't hate on each other because of the phone/OS they use, right? Hope you enjoy your iPhone as much as I enjoy my Moto X, and good day to you sir.

    It was a great video. Still love my iPhone 5 which is flawless & works superb even on heavy usage of over a year. IOS 7.1 has turned my phone more faster & smoother than before. I am always a big fan of iPhone & I will wait to upgrade to iPhone 6...

    I have an iPhone 5S and I think the battery life is awesome.
    I got like 40-50% left at the end of the day, even tho I use it quite often, playing games/TH-cam or things like instagram, snapchat etc.

  • @Gravage
    @Gravage 10 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I don't agree that touch ID is the only reason to get the 5s, but then, I also don't use Touch ID. For me, it's about the camera. Camera quality may only be slightly better, but the insane burst mode, background processing and compression, near instant HDR photos, slow motion video, and other software enhancements are only possible because of the 64 bit processor (and 64 bit optimized camera app). For me, the camera was the main reason I got the 5s.
    However, either way, I do agree that it's not a significant upgrade over the 5. But that seems to be the modus operandi of all manufacturers these days, as evidenced at CES.

    • @ShiehShieh01
      @ShiehShieh01 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think slow motion requires 64bit, but maybe it makes the processing faster or allows even higher frame rates

    • @Aghinari
      @Aghinari 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Asus has all that on the past one infinity with a 32 bit processor and the 5s has to low ram to properly take advantage of a 64 bit processor.

    • @Gravage
      @Gravage 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Brian Shieh given that no other smartphone can do 720p at 120 fps, even the Snapdragon 800s (the 801 in the Z2 can), I tend to think that the 64 bit chip is very much responsible, but only because the camera app is also 64 bit. Aghinari you have no idea what you're talking about. 64 bit processors ALLOW the use of more than 4 gb of RAM, but it is not required to make them useful. Also, the Asus Infinity does not do 720p video at 120 fps, nor can it process and compress videos in the background nearly as fast. I'm not saying the iPhone 5s is the best, most powerful phone, but it is the only one that takes full-sized burst shots at the speed that it does, handles 120fps video, and processes HDR photos nearly instantly.

    • @ShiehShieh01
      @ShiehShieh01 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I'm wondering about 1080p @ 120 fps. Maybe a iOS update/new model/Android phone will feature it. I think the iPhone is as fast as it is since apps are perfectly optimized (camera as well)

    • @faethe000
      @faethe000 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** The Galaxy s4 did 720p at 120fps a year ago, well before Apple.

  • @scorchy84

    Best after the buzz video yet. I loved that you guys did 6 months instead of 3 for this one phone. I do own a 5s, in fact I bought it at launch day and it is my first ever iphone I purchased . My gf just bought a 5s the other day and loves it just as much as I did back in Sept. It's a fantastic purchase. I doubt anyone that enjoys technology will have any buyers remorse, even with the rumors of the 6 launching in Jume. Timeless design and iOS 7.1 fixes most of the problems that I experienced in the past (the random reboots were a big problem).

  • @stef5864
    @stef5864 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I own an iPhone 5s and it still feels like the first time I used it. It's extremely fast and smooth and (nearly) all the bugs were removed with iOS 7.1...
    I only have complains, just like you Jaime, with battery life. Here I think that Apple could have done a better job.
    But all in all the iPhone is just AWESOME!!

    I don't hate the iphone at all I actually like it, I just hate iphone users who are completely blinded by their ignorance. The phone is a great phone but don't you dare say its a top notch flag ship device that is the best. Maybe that would be the case 2 years ago but not anymore, not even close. The only flag ship thing on the iphone is the camera software and the touch id, other than that it has specs from 2012. I'm not trying to bash the phone because I wouldn't mind having one but I would rather have the HTC one or Note 3 or Nexus 5. I think we could all agree the phone isn't the problem, the iphone users are the problem.

    • @bboyloco3
      @bboyloco3 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angel Rodriguez well not really to me the iPhone is a social phone for teens to communicate with there friends. It's more of the hippster type of phone. The note 3 is a mans phone, business or something of that matter. The HTC one is to me a hybrid of a business and social phone. Same with the nexus 5.

    • @mikeg3644
      @mikeg3644 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Doe Its all about personal preference man. how many times do we have to say it? Everyone has their preferred phone whether its an iPhone or Android. that's it.

    • @bboyloco3
      @bboyloco3 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      MickJay Glaze I'm not saying anything that denies that at all, I'm saying the fact is the iphone isn't a top notch best of the best phone anymore, That is a fact. You can go on and say that it is the best but just because you have an opinion doesn't mean its true. Currently right now the best phone is the Note 3 and that is a fact and the specs proves it. So what if your personal preference something else? doesn't make it true. Facts are facts.

    • @mikeg3644
      @mikeg3644 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Doe Well to be honest, there is no best phone. Like i said, People use what suits them the best. Just because "You" think the Note 3 is the best, doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same. People have what they have because its what they want. Specs don't mean shit either.

  • @Frankamentise
    @Frankamentise 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What makes the iPhone 5s the best? Build quality. Optimization. Security. Fluidity. Accessories. Updates. App quality and selection. It does the most important things perfectly. I've owned all Samsung flagship's, most hTC flagship's and the Nexus 1, 4 and 5. Many are great, but always have this, that or the other wrong with it. Just because you can swipe through photo's without touching the screen doesn't make a phone better. THOSE are gimmicks! Real world usage goes to the iPhone any day. I would know. I've owned them all. I even owned the latest Windows Phones(Nokia Lumia 925, hTC 8x, hTC HD7) and 1 Blackberry phone(Z10). iPhone beats them all. As they say, it just works.

    I own both Android - Xperia Z1 and recently an iPhone 5s both these phones are my daily drivers.. Battery life is definitely a concern with the iPhone.. But when it comes to the OS Android could do better.. The reason I brought the iPhone is because of the buggy KitKat 4.4 update for Xperia Z1.. Having used both these devices extensive on a day to day basis.. I would side the iPhone even though the battery is poor when compared to Z1.. The iPhone does heat up a lot with minimal activity, guess if Apple can just fix this one thing the phone is the best that's available..

    Watching this video on an iPhone 5s is fantastic. I've been an android person since I first got a smart phone. But getting the iPhone 4S temporarily changed my mind at that time and it's safe to say that the iPhone 5S is definitely a good iPhone to have. Especially fixing the weird aspect ratio that came with the 5. I recommend it to people who want a great high quality metal phone.

    Love my iPhone 5s jailbroken running 7.0.6. No plans on upgrading to 7.1 until jailbreak comes out for it. Having the phone jailbroken truly makes this phone amazing with all the tweaks I have on it, I can't stand an unjailbroken iPhone with its limited use. Looking forward to the 6!

    I've had an iPhone 4s since launch day and even though I've always kept the softwear up to date Ive never experienced any problems with it. The UI is still great and the battery will easily last me a full day. Eg I can heavily use my phone all day and by the time that I go to bed at 11-12 in the evening it will still have about 20-30% left in the taps

    I don't think the battery issue relates to the 64 bit processor as my 5C has random battery issues too - even if I don't use it, sometimes it'll sit on my desk for a couple of days without needing a charge, sometimes it'll go flat in less than 24 hours - totally random.
    If I actually use it, the battery life is always average to poor - which is funny as though I haven't owned an iPhone for a few years, I don't remember having any problems like this with my 3GS battery life - so I think Apple have just dropped the ball on this one & I'm glad I don't have to rely on the 5c for anything important.
    The only consolation is that it does charge really, really fast.
    Totally agree about the stability issues too - though all 4 iPhones I've had have all been really unstable, so I've never understood why anyone thinks they are so wonderful in this area.

    iPhone 4 user here. I've been waiting for the right time to upgrade for about 9 months now. Even if iPhone 6 comes at June I've lost interest in iOS. Haven't upgraded mine to 7 because it would run very slow. (Based on observations of friend's phones) I jailbroke it the day I bought it and it has served me well. But I am tired of having to use jailbreak tweaks for many basic functions. My new phone will most likely be the new HTC One as I am mostly a media consumer. Small displays and slightly above average speakers are things I really can't put up with anymore. But it was definitely the best phone I've used thus far.

      They do it so that Apple sheep (not all users are sheep - please don't interpret my comment this way) can reiterate these things and convince themselves that there is no reason to consider anything but the iPhone.
      As someone who wasn't tied down to any ecosystem, I went with the LG G2 for the amazing battery life as I often have to go 2-3 days with one charge, or only 2 hours to recharge before starting my day. The iPhone is a very nice phone, but the battery life just doesn't suit it for me.

      Apple hates Google (even going as far as to use Bing for Siri).
      It's a strange relationship. Google likes Apple (or at least comes as close as you can to liking a competitor) and absolutely hates Microsoft, even as far as stopping Microsoft from making an official TH-cam app for their devices. Microsoft in turn retaliated against Google (the whole misguided "Scroogle" campaign) and is starting to take arms against Apple, too (comparing the Surface to the iPad and MacBook Air). Apple has their guns pointed at Google (I think after having cooperated with them on iOS apps, they feel threatened by Android) and kinda doesn't care about Microsoft.

    I own an iPhone 5 and I love it. I want a 5S but in the same breath I'm willing to wait and see what apple has coming next. I really don't mind the 4 inch display at all. The phone fits comfortably in one hand. I think battery life is always going to be an issue with all smart phones regardless of what device you have. I would like it if apple gave you 3 choices in the next iPhone a 4 inch, 4.7 inch, or a 5 inch screen. I used to own a droid years ago but after countless issues which led me to buy an iPhone I've never looked back. I'm sure everyone picks their own poison, mine just happens to be Apple.

    well, I used iPhone for the last 7 years and now I am using Galaxy note 3 and totally an amazing experience, I do miss the jailbreak and ways to customize iPhone through Cydia and even rooting the note 3 still Cydia is by far the best way to go when it comes to mod your device. other than that Galaxy note 3 it is an amazing phone which it was worth the change from iPhone 5s to note 3...

    Ive only owned the IPhone 5s for a little over a month and I have to say I love the way it feels in the hand and the one handed use. Aside from that I couldn't in good conscience use IOS stock I jailbroke it the first day I got it. It was too simplistic and boring for me. Now that I've jailbroken it, I love it I can customize anything I want and still have the buildt quality which makes a beautiful device. But the battery life is abysmal and had to buy a extended battery case(granted though I haven't upgraded to 7.1). Which is funny because the 7.1 update has significantly changed the iPhone 4 in performance and battery life. My final thoughts are if you don't mind buying a battery pack for it then otherwise its an awesome device:)

Bought the 5 sept last year and out the box comes with automatic shut down, overheating and battery issue specially when the phone is inside my jean pocket. so went back to the dealer and have it replace . the next one comes with overheating and battery issue less the automatic shut down. Then got fed up and trade for nexus 4.

    I owned the iP 5 before getting the 5S when it was released and I agree there is virtually little difference in performance except that I would have to say the 5S is faster at loading pages in the web browser and of course touch ID. After jailbreaking the 5S I would much rather have the 5S over any android smartphone but primarily because I have Apples's ecosystem which is the NO. 1 reason for choosing an iPhone over android, it just works for me. There are several Android smartphones that I would not mind using at all like HTC One or even Galaxy S4 (which I did use for a month or so) but I really like having all my gadgets connected the Apple's platform works. Good video Jemie.

    Very pleasant experience till date. It heats up like crazy at times, was very buggy till the 7.1update. But lte drains the battery, and the phone gets overheated on lte. Really wish apple could bring in USB OTG-on the go, to the next iOS release, would be very helpful for file transfer, at least wifi direct for cross platform file transfer.

    I've been using iPhone 5s since last 7 months. After iOS 8 update, apps crashes quite often, esp Viber and Safari. I'm seeing frame drops here and there during gameplay of even casual games like HillClimb Racing. It heats up badly browsing internet. And I'm tired of protecting it. Never matters how much I protect it, new scrathes arise each week. Compulsion to sync over iTunes, bad battery life, limited storage made me off. Apps are great, really awesome since i came from Lumia 925, I'm satisfied regarding Apps, ONLY. and that's it. It have disappointed me alot. I paid double the price of NL925 to buy it, and it's not letting me do half of things I did on Lumia. Low light photography is bad, but daylight is awesome! Never ever going to buy iPhone again, and my suggestion will always be NEVER BUY AN IPHONE.

    I have had absolutely no problems with my 5s either hardware or software. The battery life is the best I've ever experienced. I can get an average of about 16 hours out of a charge. I would describe myself as an average user. I run the Move app and it has no effect on battery life. I ran the same app on my nexus 5 and it kills the battery life?? Who knows. Anyway as Jaime said if you into Apple products this is a great phone. The 6 is on the way but I don't see Apple going away from making this size phone altogether

    I love my iPhone 5, which I got just over a year ago(64gb AT&T) to replace my iPhone 3GS 16GB( yes I had that phone that long cause I was waiting for the iPhone 5 over the 4 and 4S). I've had no problems with the phone at all and no problems with iOS7 since it is optimized for the 5 and 5S, love the retina display (light years better than my 3GS of course) and most people (Samsung owners) see it and complain about the small screen but the display is crystal clear som much so that you don't notice when you're looking at it. I will get the new bigger (hopefully ..) iPhone 6 but not until maybe next year even if it comes out this year( only you tech journalist can afford to have the latest versions of everything no matter what the $$$$$, lol) besides, I want to give my iPad 2 to my wife and get the iPad Air....

    An overall negative review, yet they will still use the 5S as a benchmark against all the new phones. Why use the 5S if it has so many caveats for you?
    -Use the Galaxy S5, which he'll complain about TouchWiz lag and plasticky build.
    -Use the new HTC, which he'll complain about battery life and the build not being up to Apples standard.
    -Use Nokia, which he'll complain about the lack of apps on WP.
    The overall consensus I get from all the tech reviewers is that NO phone is perfect, so lets continue to complain about every device until we get what we want..Too bad capitalism doesn't work like that.
