  • Saikyo Line Cab View Part 2, from Akabane Station to Omiya Station. Part 1 is here ↓
    • 埼京線前面展望Part1 恵比寿→赤羽 <C...
Although this section is called the Saikyo Line, it is very different in character from Part 1. Part 1 was originally called the Akabane Line and opened in 1885. Part 2 opened in 1985. There is a 100-year gap.
The section in Part 1 was built primarily for freight transport. The section in Part 2 was built parallel to the new Tohoku Shinkansen line, which was to be constructed. It serves the commuter transport needs of the region and as a guarantee to the local community for the construction of the Shinkansen line. Of course, there is a high demand for commuter transport, and this route continues to have one of the highest congestion rates in the Tokyo suburbs.
The line is a typical modern elevated railway, with no railroad crossings along the entire line. Many apartment buildings have been built on both sides of the tracks.

    アクセスありがとうございます。埼京線の前面展望パート2です。今回は赤羽駅から大宮駅まで。新幹線の運転本数が多いですね(大宮以南なのだから当然か)。追い抜かれていて、結構快感🙂でした。

It sounds like this train is having trouble with doors not closing correctly.

Parts 1 and 2: It's extremely interesting to see how rail traffic works in a metropolitan area around Tokyo: lots of trains either coming towards you on the same line or coming into the picture on other lines to the left and right...
The density of trains on the Shinkansen line is enormous: trains can be seen here about every 2 or 3 minutes, although the level of the two parallel lines is not always the same: sometimes the Shinkansen line runs higher or lower than the local line running alongside it...
Lots of travelers on the platforms and if I, as a country resident, imagine that I was a guest in your country and had to change trains several times in the confusion of the different lines, for example: I WOULD BE LOST, I WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY LOST!!! 😅😅😅

What surprised me about my trip to Germany was that the system for guiding passengers was also very systematic. Just by looking at the information board on the platform, I could understand from which position I should board the train, and even at local stations, if I just said "How can I get to...", the answer would be printed out. Thanks to this system, I was able to escape from the "walled city of Rothenburg". For lunch, of course, I had a fish mac, which is easy to order in English.
Japanese trains are not designed in such a systematic way. I think you need a generous heart or the guts to enjoy being forced to make strange mistakes. After all, Japan is an island country far from other countries. Fish mac is available.

👌 okay… fish mac in Japan 😂… but when I‘m in a foreign land I should try something local and country-specific food such as sushi, sashimi, ramen, miso soup, gyoza, yakitori, tempura and okonomiyaki...
You can now find sushi relatively often in Germany, the other dishes are mostly unknown... 🤔

Which kind of signaling system is used in this line? There isnt any in sight.

The train is equipped with an ATC system. Signals are displayed in the cab, and the train's operating speed is also suggested. If the train exceeds that speed, the brakes are applied automatically. On the day I rode the train, the driver was relying on the system and did not seem to be desperately gripping the steering wheel.
