  • Could Kabuto beat Kakashi in Naruto part 1? Kakashi and Kabuto were always said to be around the same level in Naruto part 1, this started during the Naruto Chunin Exams when Kakashi vs Kabuto happened in the hospital as Kabuto threatened Sasuke. Kabuto vs Kakashi was short, they had a brief Taijutsu exchange, and Kabuto used his substitution jutsu to flee.
But what if Kabuto and Kakashi fought for real in Naruto part 1? Kakashi with his Raikiri and Sharingan, and Kabuto with his chakra scalpels and medical ninjutsu. Who would actually win? Let's analyze who would win this Naruto VS Battle looking at their feats in Naruto part 1, using Kakashi vs Zabuza, Kabuto vs Tsunade, Kakashi vs Itachi, and other fights.

Depends on how you look at it, kakashi warps full 8 tails with some kyubi chakra. A lot earlier he warps deidara’s arm. He has the capability to warp high speed projectiles so, warping even a perfect sage isn’t out the question. Kakashi can win but if he fails once kabuto will most likely not allow him to try again.

Kakashi stagnated HARD after Rin and obito’s death

    • @flight_knight_
      @flight_knight_ ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Est_1.997 That's an overstatement. It's not a massive boost. The specific scene of Kakashi training in part 1 is only referring to the difference in power at the start of part 1 to the end of part 1 (which isnt big either) because he also trains during the timeskip and that's his main training/growth. His training during the timeskip with MS would explain the difference in Part 1 and 2 (Even then its not massive until the war arc). He doesn't move up in tiers of power and stays relatively the same. In part 1 Kakashi can be measured vs Itachi where he gets one shot, then comes back and combos to stalemate a 30% clone of itachi. Minor improvement at best, minor fail at worst. In In part 1 Orochimaru is 2v1 vs Sanin. Kakashi had no chance vs Orochimaru in Part 1 and wouldnt in early part 2 either. (Pt 2 weakened Oro vs 4 tails, Jiraiya also faced that Naruto, Kakashi needs Yamato to supress Naruto, he stopped 2 tails tho) The rock climbing scene just shows he is more focused, not that he's "stronger" or "amped" just like when he fought Zabuza or Itachi. He lost the first encounters but came back more focused and improved and prepared. In terms of stats/jutsu the training scene doesnt mean anything. That's why after the timeskip we know he is stronger because he says he has a new jutsu and more stamina to use it. Even after the time skip he isnt massively "stronger" stat wise tho until the war arc when he fights Madara and Obito who are leagues above anyone else he has faced (except maybe itachi but he was sick).

I think the battle would be a lot closer than what you're giving it credit for. The win condition for Kabuto isn't a direct fight and quick kill, but rather to burn Kakashi out of stamina/chakra. He's smart enough to figure that out quickly enough in the fight too. He's shown that he's really good at the midrange, keeping others at bay and keeping himself from taking blows that are too lethal. So the question here is really about how long can Kabuto keep Kakashi at bay before either Kakashi figures out the game plan and creates a blitz strategy to defeat it, or he loses too much chakra to defend against any more tricks. Kabuto doesn't have to be as powerful, he just needs to be powerful enough.

But that plot thread was dropped later on and he just became Orochimaru's loyal subject

When a character says that someone is about as strong or skilled as someone else they don't really talk about how good are off the battle field in some theoretical discipline or who's better cook.
They do mean in a fight. But just because they say it doesn't really mean it's true. They might over or underestimate one side of the equation or... well, writer just changes his mind, something that happens a lot in backloaded story.

    • @junior523

Exactly. If as a writer I say character A is in the same league as character B and I am clearly referring to the Rizz level, fans shouldn't come later and start saying I was actually referring to who is smarter or faster.
Kishimoto isn't stupid. If he meant Kabuto was in the same league as in prowess as a Shinobi he would have said that the same way he said it about other people, he specifically said Kabuto was about as strong as Kakashi so end of story.

A well-made video. And I agree with the verdict. Still, there are a couple of things that I think need to be addressed.
6:35 If you want to bring Tsunade's mental state, you should've also acknowledged the factors working against Kabuto. He was not fighting to kill, his objective was to immobilize Tsunade and force her to heal Orochimaru's hands. And the only reason Tsunade was even able to land the hit that scrambled Kabuto's nervous system was that he literally closed his eyes and started to gloat. Immediately after that he even admitted that he was taking her too lightly.
8:57 Orochimaru hit Kakashi with his fear hax only after tricking Kakashi into a false sense of security by pretending to retreat, we can see Kakashi relaxing to the point of deactivating Raikiri. We also have the statement from the official fanbook stating that "anyone going up against Kakashi risks death". "Anyone" includes Orochimaru.
14:06 Funnily enough, Kakashi still performed better against Itachi than Orochimaru has. Where Orochimaru got shafted by Itachi's base Sharingan genjutsu, Kakashi managed to push Itachi into using Tsukuyomi in order to end the fight quickly (all while carrying Asuma and Kurenai's fodder asses).
Their hospital confrontation is already pretty telling. Kabuto needed extensive prep time, and a hostage to give a rusty Kakashi (with a covered Sharingan) a successful slip. Yikes.

Yes I know what it says, I just remember in perhaps another translation and the context of it, Kakashi couldn’t actually produce that many Shadow clones; especially since he was fatigued and he thought to himself about it when he saw Naruto do it. But since he was only doing it to intimidate all the Mercenaries on the bridge, he just used the regular clone jutsu to save Chakara and because they wouldn’t know the difference.

The only reason Kabuto lived was due to Orochimaru having interest in Kabuto and the abilities he has, perhaps even more than that? One could even say Orochimaru held Kabuto in higher regard then he did his other servants, cause there were many times in Part 1 where Kabuto spoke to Orochimaru in ways that offended him and Orochimaru tho threatened him. Didn't kill Kabuto, Orochimaru straight up slaughtered one guy and all he did was ask if Orochimaru was okay. Yet Kabuto explained something to Orochimaru and Orochimaru was like "Kabuto!, do not talk to me as if you are explaining to a child!". Then by part 2 Orochimaru and Kabuto were thick as thieves. So Orochimaru definitely seen more in Kabuto then he did the others.

Kakashi was completely paralyzed with fear when he saw Orochimaru just walking towards him but even after Itachi released him from Tsukiyomi Kakashi was willing to throw hands with Itachi. (Now to be fair the Sannin were way bigger threats in part 1 then in Shippuden Kishimoto decided to make all 3 of them jokes). However irregardless you it ended up being an important plot point that Itachi was stronger than Orochimaru. Even though Orochimaru had waaaay more jutsu than Itachi.
Same goes for Kabuto vs Kakashi. It's not about the number of jutsu you have it's about how powerful the writer wants you to be. Kishimoto wrote more than once that Kakashi and Kabuto were in the same league. If he had made them fight he would have just given Kabuto more abilities or made his speed faster.

Even Kage's only use a single digit number of Shadow Clones because of how much they can't afford to waste Chakra in this manner. Kakashi who is very well established to have a low amounts of Chakra simply couldn't produce dozens of Shadow Clones when he is already exhausted from a fight (and by exhausted I mean he literally has to stay in the hospital bed because he is so tired from the amount of Chakra used in the fight)

Where as Kakashi is more of warrior oriented ninja from the get go. His jutsu and skills are better suited for open attacks and combat. Kakashi's knowledge of fighting and being veteran of one of the Shinobi World Wars allowed him to excel in stealth missions and assassination missions while in Anbu. He knew how to sneak around and which jutsu could provide fatal hits without raising suspicion. In a sense both Kakashi and Kabuto represent two different areas of the Ninja warrior structure Naruto setup. With Kabuto being more fit for the actual definition of a Ninja and Kakashi being more of the warrior type but able to fit into the same role as Kabuto if need be.

From early on Kabuto, with his calm and calculated collectedness, cemented himself to me as a credible villain and threat, someone who seemed to be capable of just about anything with his cunning, and always had at leats 10 backup plans. He was, in other words, everything I had hoped Code in Boruto would be. Sure, he never struck me as the "leader" type, even when he became a sage during the war and gained an immense power boost. He always struck me as an underling, but in the best and most sincere way I can possibly use that word. He was never "final boss" material, but he was a credible villain and someone I would never wanna get on the bad side of.

So Kakashi, that caught Kabuto by surprise and yet was fooled by Kabuto’s trick with the dead ANBU… Was too smart to be fooled by Naruto’s smart grab… Does it makes Naruto’s smarter than Kakashi too or…?

Kabuto is a Goat if you think about it. I don’t think war arc kakashi could deal with kabuto like itachi did.. the same itachi who put him under genjutsu and hospitalized him for days 😅

again I don't think kabuto would take down kakashi sadly, but what he has going for him is he threw hands with one of the legendary sannin quite competently. and no, Tsunade was *NOT* handicapped *DURING* their fight. She was handicapped *AT THE END OF THE FIGHT* where kabuto stabbed himself to show tsunade blood, winning the fight with underhanded tactics. But before that she wasn't handicapped at all and threw punshes with full force against the guy and he not only managed to survive, but also beat tsunade in the end.
I think he's been quite powerful from the very beginning.

I think it boils down to character design. His design is a typical henchman type, so we feel that way about him.

8:01 I agree but I would say it's effective psychological warfare/tactics. This is also the weakest Tsunade anyway just bc she hasn't been training for real. All of these factors and the one you mentioned make it pretty reasonable that Kabuto is still reasonably comparable to Kakashi.

Part 1 kakashi… wasn’t really anything special feat wise.
Neither is Kabuto. But I don’t know if Kabuto could compete against zabuza
NOTE. I don’t think Kabuto got stronger until after orochimaru dies. So you could probably use early shippuden feats.

Nah. I think Kishi just has a problem a "don't bother showing, just tell" problem. Many times we get strange power comparisons that don't make actual sense when actual fights are taken into account.

I believe you mentioned before in passing how there's a lot of contradictions in The Naruto timeline.
I was wondering, do you have a rough timeline for the pre Naruto events, in your rewrite of Naruto? I'm working on my own revisions to the Naruto storyline for my own purposes, and I've hit a significant roadblock trying to rewrite the past events. So i was hoping for some pointers/starting blocks.
I personally think that sometime in Shippuden the hidden leaf village should hit its 100 year anniversary. But then I have to squeeze nearly 50 additional years into the timeline of past events. Which is extremely difficult to do while keeping most of the historical events similar.

Kakashi has to hit him as quickly as possible because his biggest weakness is his low stamina and kabuto can easily take advantage of that.

According to the dialogue, they are ABOUT the same level, which doesn't necessarily mean it's definitive. Whenever they were compared, the assessments were guesses, made by those that didn't have direct knowledge of both characters' abilities. However, with that in mind, if we accept that they might be equal in power and basic ability, Kakashi has far more experience. We eventually learn that Kakashi was a bit like an Uchiha, in that he made training a part of his everyday lifestyle - even from the youngest of age. Kabuto didn't really start training until Danzo took him in. Now, we can add the Sharingan into the mix.
Kakashi received the Sharingan, and taught himself over a thousand jutsus. It should be pointed out, that he seems to know Zabuza's myst jutsu. He could use that and his sense of smell, or even his hounds again. If Kabuto can be restrained by Naruto holding on to his arm, then certainly a pack of ninja hounds can hold him. He knows Earth style techniques, and water style techniques, that can shake the ground and greatly inconvenience Kabuto. However, we can't forget that Kakashi is VERY fast, once he uses his lightning blade.
I think that Kakashi has a bit of a mental nerf as well. I think this could explain how he ended up getting so powerful, in Shippuden. He has PTSD, and isn't as eager to fight as he used to be. That might also be why he kept failing the teams that he was assigned to train. When he is in battle &/or is protecting those he cares about, he does what is necessary. I think some of his early stamina issues were partially mental and partially because he stopped training as hard. As for War Arc Kakashi & Kabuto, that's not as interesting. That version of Kabuto was designed as a final boss, with an Itachi shaped weakness.

Okay one thing. IMO Kabuto's genjutsu in part 1 is not a fair representation of his genjutsu strength, since it seemed to be a AOE genjutsu that was supposed to incapacitate the a lot of people and was not focused on one person.

back in Part one of Naruto.
Ninja's weren't supposed to be speed blitzing goods of DBZ levels.
with Sanin and Kage's being the exception.
    showing super strength like Tsunade.
Orochimaru was insanely powerful with his arm working.
    also in Kabuto's defense.
He had an arm disabled, Naruto was rocking that monster chakra and hit with one the strongest Jutsu-Taijustu combo attacks.
Shadowclones are literally a Jonin skill.
Kabuto also just simply looked down upon Naruto.
cos' he was superior in any other way.
Also remember with Tsunade versus Kabuto.
They are not trying to kill her truly but put her in a state where she gives up and heals Orochimaru.

Kabuko was very strong around this time, kakashi was coming off of basically being a retired ninja and full time teacher. We know atrophy effects Naruto character if we look at how self admittedly weak hokage shikamaru after doing admin work for so long. Kabuto in part one was a threat, he was in top shape running S ranked sound missions. Anbu kakashi would have been able to handle him no problem, post teacher kakashi struggles.

Kabuto was clearly a massive threat when he had a powerful sage mode. More importantly he had unbelievable mastery of Reanimation jutsu and an incredibly overpowered army of reanimation options a freaking army of powerful options.
Saying Kabuto was not a threat at that point is incredibly stupid it is actually hilarious 🤣😂.
Even the version that lost to kid Naruto was already very competent. Although that version would lose to part one Kakashi that is true for sure.

I think the trope of Kabuto since the beggining was that hes really High iq and skill
And thats how hes outsmart kakashi in first place
It would be aweoesome to see him betray Orochimaru in the first part and become more of a true villain for himself and not just end like just a pawn
With all the killing Sasuke part felt like "ok im going to kill Sasuke and betray orochimaru....but now that i think maybe i could just become a even more loyal pawn for him"... like wtf?

It could have been a retcon if Kishimoto has done it but I’ve just had a thought that Kabuto was planning on taking Orochimaru’s body (implanting his cells into his own body) from the beginning. Like look at the events: Kabuto’s trying murdering Sasuke, Kabuto’s spying on Oro for Akatsuki (Ik in the manga it was supposed to be unwillingly but anyways, it’s just a what if), and later on, Kabuto reveals that he actually did steal Oro’s cells and was using it for power up
