Making an old 4wd extremely capable with some Harrop E Lockers! Installing these onto our old GQ Patrol with a TD42 motor to make this thing a bloody weapon off road. It is definitely one of my most recommended mods to anybody looking to get into 4wding as it just transforms the whole car and takes it to a new level!

just by watching I'm learning more and more about these classic 4x4s and keen as to see the finished product
Great vid, I think I’ll attempt this myself! Pray for me
If you’re talking value for capability… a front locker and the largest lsd shin in the rear was the ACTUAL answer. But both is good🤷♂️😂
Hahaha 1000 percent! I also like that doing that retains the LSD 🤌
The LSD shim is crock! You cant fit 8mm of shims into a 7mm space! - unless the disc are completely flogged out. Not all carriers will take the shim. The TJM pro-locker is far stronger than the small e-locker.
Nice work.
Bonnet struts.. One of the simplest mods and pays for itself every time you open the bonnet
I love the shed content mate! And I love when you walk us through on how to do things! Legend keep up these episodes
Thanks heaps mate!! 👏
Gday, that all went In easy mate, top job, cheers
Thanks legend, was a bit of a mission but such a good mod to have ticked off 🎉
Great vid man! I’m thinking for video ideas a flexy well put together suspension setup that doesn’t instantly drain the bank account would be good for this build.
Okay I can do that!
I love shed stuff to but my shed is always trashed haha joys of owning 4 completely different cars and working on other peoples cars I have 3 sheds and never enough room for parts or tools haha
Hey Mate, I assume you watch footy. You look exactly like Herbie Farnworth from Broncos
Been waiting 2 weeks for this still think it should be an 80 lol
Please finish off more videos with diesel. Makes our days so much better
Can do!! cheers for the input!
Are you going to paint the gq?
where can i buy one of them centre consles ive been looking for one exactly like that for so long.
One stop shop 4x4 made it along time ago!
Lift kit next mod?
are centre diff locks any good
As far as I know they only make the front and rear drive 50/50, but yes they are good!!
Yewww
Internet correcting the internet
That’s correct!
cool ! blown the budget now for sure ! 📹🛻🤙😎
my first mod would be lift, wheels and tyres
Same as everyone else mate but you’ll find out real quick you’ll get no where someone with lockers will go
@@tylervangrondelle9502 I’m gonna be doing mostly sand driving and a little bit of rock so lockers arnt one the list as of now
14:45, deez nutz
Just swap the switch stickers around 😂😅
😆😆 the stickers are right, I jsut wanted the front locker at the front of the switch panel! 😆 being picky 😅😅
@@RoamLyfe ah yeah. Those lockers went in easy👍🏻
@TG-zd9de they are pretty straight forward 👌
I’ve always wanted to do this kind of build but I could never justify spending all that money on a car that wouldn’t make the best daily driver ie no air bags abs
Just don’t crash
I daily drive my ln106, it’s alright gotta remember people drove around in cars without that shit for ages anyways
First thing is make the car roadworrhy & reliable. First mods if I was going offroad is 1. Tyres 2. Suspension 3. Winch 4. Lockers
Dude! Just because the grease looked good, does not mean the parts covered by the grease are good. I would have cleaned inspected & regreased. Plus I would have changed the diff ratio to recalibrate, to suit the larger tyres
Yeah I get that haha, I don’t have much money at the moment so I decided not to rebuild the hubs, I can tell they have been done not long ago and the previous owner told me they got done! I wasn’t concerned, I see a lot of similar parts at work and I can tell when new seals and parts are fitted 🙌
is the next vid going to be a turbo install
Just waiting on the turbo to arrive!
How much bearing preload did you put into it? noticed you skip over that part and go straight to backlash - any reason for that? is it a bitch to do?
Haha wellll, I don’t exactly know how to do it the right way so I skipped it in the video, I can’t find much info on it!
What I did do (not saying it’s right)
I had the backlash set to the most I could, so basically have the crown wheel all the way to the side with heaaaps of backlash
Then I just done up the pre load untill I felt the crown wheel sorta go square and rigid, then I just adjusted till I felt a little bit of drag on the bearings and left it at that!
I’ve done this a few times and works fine but unsure if it’s correct way and don’t wanna bum steer anyone!
@@RoamLyfe Hey mate appreciate the reply regardless - we're all just trying to learn hey. Here's what i've heard...
Local diff shop bloke told me to first get the backlash to spec - then turn in the side adjusters one notch at a time on both sides until the outer bearing rings spin with the bearing adjusters. Not sure if it's right but that's what I'm going with when I install my elocker next week! (unless someone recommends otherwise?)
@@aussieo684 I’ve done that before on a locker and it worked! You can see the bearing race start to move and then stop.
I think as long as it’s not too tight you’ll be fine!!
I did also check that the crown wheel wasn’t wobbling back and forth with the dial indicator!
please keep it manual
Yeah she’s definitely staying manual 🤘
Gotta love the old manual
