Yes you were right, this was the show opener for the 'Legend 1997' concert for Su-Metal's 16th birthday. You have already seen some of the other songs they did that night (the Gimme Chocolate official video was taken from this, the rock version of Headbanger and your last reaction to BABYMETAL DEATH where Su was crucified was the show's finale). This was their biggest show up to that date and (along with Legend 1999 celebrating Yui and Moa's 14th birthdays earlier in the year) was significant not only because it was Su's 16th but also because she had graduated from the parent Idol group Sakura Gakuin and with her Babymetal had also separated to become a band in it's own right. This was the show when the Kami Band, who had played the encores at a small handful of shows up to this, took over once more for the encores - the 5 last songs of the show, and became the full time backing band for all future live performances while the Babybones were 'retired'.
The Kami band had played quite a bit with the girls at this point. In May of 2013 Babymetal had the Death Match May Revolution Tour, which only had the Kami band (with 5 Kamis, with Mori "Miz" Mizuho on violin). They also played the summer festival circuit, including Summer Sonic where they met Metallica with just the Kami. So the Kami did more than a handful of encores; this was actually a throwback concert in a way, most of the shows in 2013 were Kami based
Nobody ever talks about the guitars coming in 3:16 or so. Very good ! Such a high energy opening of the concert. They have some of their own songs with some electronica in it. But Night of 15 remix is definitely taking it up a notch. :-)
FYI: The source tape is Maria Callas singing with only piano accompaniment. All the other layers are created by the Skelton Band; Strings, Bass, Guitars, Drums.

Of course they have a much bigger catalog of songs to choose from now. I'm glad they did a more straight forward version on 'Headbanger!!!' for Su's 20th. An awful lot of people got all bent out of shape in the comments of the original and other videos because they don't know German from Latin, nor a legend from blasphemy. And of course the phrase "Ave Maria" is latin even if the rest of the song isn't. And there is the later adaptation of the latin prayer to the same score which adds to the confusion. What Koba has done here reminds me a little of what Spielberg did at the beginning of "Indiana Jones - Temple of Doom". Every hardcore action/adventure enthusiast had gathered in the darkness of the theater and what did Steven give them? - Dancing girls in pink glitter singing the Broadway show tune "Anything Goes". Here. the Japanese audience has gathered to see a heavy metal concert and what did Koba give them? - The beautifully ethereal classical prayer "Ave Marie" - sung in Latin and German - written by an Austrian from a text by a Scotsman of a Highland maiden's prayer to a Hebrew girl sung by an American (Barbara Bonney (I believe)). The whole 16th birthday concert was beautifully themed from beginning to end with imagery of Su passing from the innocence of childhood ("virgin" / idolhood) to and through the passage of death to be revived (resurrected) at the beginning of the next concert as our Metal Warrior Queen. Koba could have picked a setting of Ave Maria from Catholic liturgy, but he didn't, which I agree with John is an important distinction. To me, in gleaning symbolism from the world's cultures (as Metal often does) the symbol of "virginhood" (in it's broader sense) from this particular text of the prayer by Ellen to the Virgin Mary is of honored reverence and not blasphemy. It is interesting that in that same canto (section) of Lady of the Lakes" the imagery of "burning crosses" also appears which was a call to arms. Though not directly flaming crosses (which the KKK picked up on) our one "K" (Koba) had a lot of flames and crosses going on at the end of Su's delightful party.

Over the years I have listened to various remixes of BabyMetal songs that crop up on TH-cam from time to time but they are not official BabyMetal remixes. This Night Of 15 Mix is by far the best remix of a BabyMetal song I have heard, in my view. You can see how quickly they had amassed a fanatical fan base as for they were still using the Skeleton musicians (Mr Bones/Baby Bones) for the start of this show. Just recently, BabyMetal played in Australia at a Festival where they were on the bill amongst other headline acts. The consensuses of opinion is that BabyMetal put on the best show. They had a new girl Saya Hirai so it was back to a trio in front of the Kami Band. Saya, did not sing so there is speculation if she is to be a permanent replacement for Yui.
I was watching your facial expressions and it was funny. A typical Babymetal cirst time reacter not knowing what to expect. I usually dont like this type music but this is cool. And yes Su was lip syncing to this but this is fine. Hard to believe in one show this is the opening and you end up with the crucifixion of Su. Extreme.

To be honest, although I would consider myself a hardcore fan, I have only seen that video once when I watched the whole show. It's not my taste of music, and while interesting to some degree, it's too little BABYMETAL for my taste. But I'm glad you liked it. As you said, the energy was awesome as always.
