I'm very glad you found the video useful. We all struggle with balance specially when turning, hence a strong core is vital. Once you get familiar with an engaged core, it will become natural to always maintain this position. You will get to a point when you won't even need to think about it. I will be doing further videos on arm position and specifically for castanets too. However this body position is the basic body posture for all your dance practice. Keep working on it and you'll see amazing results!!! Maria x
Hi Maria, Thank you for this video it is very informative. Should my core be engaged for every flamenco step that I do moving forward ?. As in from now on whenever i do flamenco my core should always be enagaged? Im trying to replicate your instructions for the core but as a male dancer i keep on referring to enaging core like tensing like body builders at the beach showing off their six pack. Am I confusing that with your direction or is the same concept? Many Thanks
Thanks for watching, definitly I recommend to engage your core at all times but no tensing. The core should be engaged to support the back but never create tension or stiffness when dancing. Check out some videos about core engagement in Pilates rather than bodybuilding. Hope this helps.xx
I would love to do that but with a guest teacher. Although I practice yoga and pilates frequently, I don't have the qualifications to give professional advice. Definitely on my to do list!!
Thanks Maria..... So helpful video

In future will there be a Pilates /yoga ish video specific for flamenco?

I like to think I was showing off a necklace to improve my posture if I caught myself hunching
