    Thanks for watching! There are so many uses for this "leather"! In this video I showed how to make a faux leather junk journal: th-cam.com/video/PJL-VZfazrU/w-d-xo.html. You can add decorative corners to your book covers by following my other tutorial: th-cam.com/video/enc90zZeAQQ/w-d-xo.html. You can also embellish wooden boxes or cardboard boxes, add textured accents to you mixed media art and collages, or even upcycle an ordinary shoebox! Enjoy! :)

    Thanks! Great tutorial! You may want to mention you are contaminating the ink pads with other colors so use dedicated ink pads or use a sponge to apply the ink.

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching! Personally, I didn’t have any problems with colors being altered and was able to continue to use my ink pads in a normal way after this project. However, you definitely have a point regarding the color contamination- it may be more visible with other color combinations. In that case, dedicated ink pads would be a good solution. But I would not use ink blenders or sponges. They would not provide the ink saturation needed for this project and would also apply the ink more evenly to the entire surface, while I mostly want the ink on the “peaks” of my creases to emphasize them. Happy crafting!

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Paint is thicker, so it would result in a different texture. If you absolutely have to use the paint, I would water it down a lot, and then build up the color to a desired hue. I would paint a coat, wait for it to (almost) dry, then paint the next coat, until you like the color. Good luck and happy crafting!

    Do you think you could use Vaseline instead of hair conditioner? Or does it have to be hair conditioner?

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching! I wouldn’t use Vaseline, because it is greasy and could prevent the paper from absorbing the inks, and I’m not sure how it would interact with Mod Podge. You don’t have to use a hair conditioner, but it has to be some sort of humectant. Some viewers commented that they have successfully replaced hair conditioner with hand lotion and even sunscreen, but I never tried it out myself. I hope this helps! Happy crafting!

      Thank you for watching! If you don't have any brown paper bags, you can use thick brown packing paper or Kraft paper. If you don't have Mod Podge in Brazil, you can make your own decoupage paste (there are many handmade recipes online) or simply dilute PVA glue with water until you reach the right consistency. Instead of a manila folder, you can use a cereal box or a similar food box. Hope this helps! Happy crafting!

  • @MrsAllum1
    @MrsAllum1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did mine but it still feels like a paper bag, just a bit softer. Going to add more conditioner.
    I don't have stamps/ink so I dry brushed with acrylic paint. Could that prevent the paper from softening?
    I put the paint on before the conditioner.

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the acrylic paint is the issue here. Like you said, it is likely preventing the paper from absorbing the humectant in the conditioner. I would try again without the paint. You may want to spray your paper with concentrated dark coffee instead of water. It will add a bit of color to your paper. I’d spray before and after crumpling up the paper. It should help to bring out the wrinkles and help with dimension and texture. Good luck!🍀

      @chasingpaper2022 I gave it a try and what was a real game changer was using some re-inker mixed with water, that allowed me to get a nice dark brown colour.
      Thanks again

    What do I use if the colors of the inks are not available to me?

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  ปีที่แล้ว

      I only tried using distress inks and oxides, but you could try using a very strong (very dark) coffee. Brew it, cool it and pour it into your squirt bottle instead of water. The results will not be nearly as dark as using the inks, but in will give your leather a nice brown hue. I’ve also heard that some crafters use shoe polish. I can also tell what NOT to use. I do not recommend acrylic paints, as it will mess with the texture of your “leather”. Good luck!

    How do you think, can I use PVA glue instead of mod podge?

    • @chasingpaper2022
      @chasingpaper2022  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I believe PVA glue would work, but I would thin it out with water. Maybe test it out on a small area to see if you like the results? Good luck!

    How to make this washable? Like the ones they use on washable paper bags

    • @chasingpaper2022

      It’s still paper, so you can’t wash it. If you put enough coats of Mod Podge/sealant on the leather side, you should be able to wipe it clean
