Spotting in the rain is something I haven't done for years to be honest, more of a fine weather enthusiast, at least it brightened up later. Was there a colas loco on the depot at the north end ?

Those high speed Azuma's racing through Doncaster running non stop between York and London Kings Cross. To high areas of Scotland such as: Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.
