Your videos are always informative. I am currently thinking of moving to Finland. I am taking my time and not rush.
And you’re wearing my country’s football jersey. ❤️

Very nicely put again, Mr. Diesel! No matter the language, there's always a shock factor in moving to another country. "Gawd dang, dis' ain't like we had back'ome?" I'm not one of those Do or Die-people, but if you're serious about emigrating to a new Country, it's definitely Adapt or Be Miserable. Still think You should do PR for Finland with that voice, man.

As a finnish man of 40 years old now, I must say about the finding work in Finland thing:
It'd be best if people were courageous and studied what they actually wanted to study, and first found out what is it that gives them that... spirit, drive, that "yeah I'll do this, even if I have to pay you, my customer". That kinda line of work, not some "yeah I work at McDonalds or phone salesman because I just wanna make money" thing.
Why? Why find work you actually want to do? Because when you find it, you have the kind of motivation that makes you way more able to go through everything the job takes, without much trouble. You will find it easier to take time to study and then work in the field, and go through learning all the things that make you better at that line of career.
That's how I'm doing it at least. Starts with finding out what you actually wanna do. And boy... even if I was crippled to a wheelchair and blind, I'd still keep doing it, even if they'd pay me nothing. As long as I live. Because, that's a calling, a thing you came to do in life.
So I just think we in Finland should really make sure people have proper basic ground to start and run their own private companies, one-man cmopanies if so. Reduce all the paper work and tax paper work and such of the corporate world on those small companies, and make sure big companies won't just bully them economically out of business. That how I say you'd get more people to work here. Not just by hiring folks, but by enabling them to found a good corporation they could run without extra trouble from paperwork.
    Peace.
    Mikko Murmeli

Love everything about what you said and I will be using your comment to expand on this conversation. I understand completely as a business owner here in Finland that was my first conscious choose. Choosing a path I know I would follow with passion and I’d say running your own business abroad is it gives you a sense of security in self early on and can be very powerful to a great future

Terre soome cousin! I'm American in Estonia, so we're neighbours I guess. I'm out 15 years now and I share a lot of what you said. You really have to kind of make your own joy, work, everything. Sometimes people underestimate how different everything is, and I still can have that frustrating day where you just don't know how to get something done. There are so many upsides that I really never have any desire to be anyplace else. Come visit Tallinn one day.

Sincerely: a very good reflection. It takes guts to move to another country and try to get under the skin of it. The whole burden is on the newcomer. The natives usually don't understand anything about it and don't care to learn. You have to get used to their "silly" comments (silly being the kindest description). If you are not just to be part a little ex-pat-group (and when "ex-pat" shows the attitude IMHO), a group that comes together to moan about all that isn't the right way, the old way, of your country of origin. If it needs be, you can choose that route, too.
One always has a phase of being so tired of all the new impressions, new language and ways, that even the opening hours of the pharmacy is a huge irritation moment. But it is not permanent, just a sign of needing rest. My latest move was to Sweden, and I'm fine and have been for years, a bit Finland-nostalgic admittedl.
There are some varying prejudices against Finns in Sweden, but with my Swedish spouse, we've found a village where the nature/landscape looks Finnish to a high degree, where people mostly think of Finns as hard-working and reliable people, and where it is calm and orderly and easy to fit in.
I used to say: there is a Finland for every taste, you just have to choose, and go look it up. It is the same in Sweden. You can't get metropolitan vibes in a country village, and viceversa. You'll be able to find lovers of your sports, music, craft, or even philosophy, if you look them up and go live near them, as they will not come to you. You can even have American football in Finland, if that is your priority. But I guess only in the Helsinki-region. Perhaps one has to prioritize more consciously, than when one just goes with the flow, where your parents planted you? Probably you'll find things that were out of your reach earlier. For instance: I was welcomed into a choir, I learned to sail, I made use of my language skills!
Maybe it is just part of becoming an adult, to get one's priorities in order. This process is getting into sharp relief, when moving to a new country, especially when you are doing it alone, and not simultaneously with your peers in your generation? It high-lights your individualistic character! And that's OK. More than OK. Celebrate it!

Good points. I am an American Germany. I do spend quite a bit of time alone, but I am happier that way. That negative vs negative analogy was spot on. As a kid, German came easy, as an Adult I have to work twice as hard. 🫡🚚
