What if you need to reuse the brake drumb. What is tge purpose of the feather on the hole cutter?
The feather is most likely used to cool the drill when it spins.
This is only to replace the drum. If u don't need to replace it just take out the nut and leave it on the hub.

how about removing the wheel bearing nut and pulling the whole thing off

Crazy idea!! Find someone with oxi aceleteline (however it is spelt) and apply heat Simple, and you reuse the drum.First you must attach a feather to the flame which is the hard part!!!
U can just pop off the dust cap and wheel bearing nut take it off together. No need for torches.
