It’s great that great Indonesia invests in infrastructure and it shows us that money really can buy time
Before 2014, Indonesians were still crowded onto the roofs of train carriages in Jakarta. In the same year, President Jokowi appointed the director of the national railway company (Ignasius Jonan) as minister of transportation, that's when the revolution in the transportation sector in Indonesia began. Massive development, thousands of kilometers of toll roads, ports, airports, bridges were built very quickly throughout Indonesia. Since that year, Indonesian railways have completely changed as a professional means of transportation that is highly trusted and liked by the people. So if today Indonesia has a High Speed train on the island of Java, then the transfer of technology that is expected from the construction of the fast train will make it easier for experts in Indonesia to develop trains in the country. Currently, Indonesia has a fairly good train manufacturing industry (PT.INKA)and has penetrated the export market.

Indonesia with its LARGE population ...... Seriously NEEDS more High Speed Train destinations. Indonesia needs a central Link from Jakarta towards EAST ( Bali island) and then a North/West route across Sumatra Island. Linking various regions allows for better Manufacturing Abilities and Trade.
That's impossible. The furthest we can build an infrastructure is banyuwangi (easternmost city in java). It has something to do with an ancient law that stated both java island and bali island cannot be connected in any way. If so, it is believed that bali will seen destruction on their island. There were a lot of plans to build some sort of bridge crossing over bali strait but it will always be denied by the balinese cultural authorities. So that's why, even today when we are fully capable building a bridge, there will be no bridge at thay location which essentially making the bali strait as the border/gateway to the eastern part of indonesia.

Coming from a city 400 km away from Jakarta. Last year I only went back to my hometown 4 times a year, even though I have the money to travel more frequently, because long time travel is not worth it. If high speed rail is available, I'm more than willing to use it.

Remember, this is not paid yet. With your government under contract with China which means that China will have leverage should you not be able to pay the loan with high interest rate. They may be able to have access to some of your resources. Just hope that this train will be able to earn enough to pay for the loan of this project. You will have to pay this with a high interest rate within a short period of time. I hope Indonesia will be able to pay for this project and not fall under the China debt trap.

too late bro. this train won't make profit for 40 years at least according to statistic and plus they need to maintain operation cost. there''s still local train goes 38 times per day which is enough not to use hsr unless you are in hurry. also, they borrowed money to build so technically it's owned by china.
