Interesting video. My BX-300 has developed 1 or 2dB channel imbalance when recording recently. It looks like you had a similar issue at the 17 minute mark. I was thinking it was a tape path/transport issue but it looks like there are some pots you are adjusting for this?

I have the same “won’t fully engage” issue on one of my BX-300s and I have disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and reassembled that cam system and motor many times with no change. The system is simple. There is a breaks lever and a pin to pull the head's carriage up. When the command gear rotates it should pull both up. However, in some cases, it won't. I tried to change the point when the switch will engage - it did not help, so, I bent it back. I put all my attention on the assembly routine. Checked that all parts sit tight in their places. Lubricated the pin to let it move freely. And it did the job. I believe the problem was that the frame supporting this command gear was not sitting in place.
