Speechless, just totally speechless. The scale of this gigantic building can’t be appreciated until you see it in person. What a gorgeous testament to the creative geniuses and masters who constructed this utterly massive basilica in the name of St. Peter and in the name of our Lord.
Without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit this can't be done. Imagine even the painting like are mosaic? The Lord really want only the grand for His One and True Church. The Jewish failed the Lord, so He need to establish a Church in honor of His Only Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. I had the privilege of going here and it was astonishing. An acquaintance of mine told me he would be visiting Italy soon. I told him the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica were a must. "Ehhh, I dunno," he responded. "I'm not really the religious type." Some people just don't get it. You don't have to be religious (I'm not) to appreciate the architecture, artistry, history, and scope of such an amazing place. Every single piece of work inside has its own amazing history. I hope I can return one day -- but there's so much more to see in the world! And to all those people saying that you can see everything in Rome in one day -- no can't! Give yourself a full day for just the Vatican and SPB. Then you still have the coliseum, the pantheon, the trevi fountain, the roman forum, the spanish steps, the Victor Emmanuel II National Monument, and so much more. Great food in the Trastevere area and cacio e pepe is a must-have.
People who say that must be blind, Rome and Italy are abundant in art, architecture and history. But I guess if you don't like any of that it's not much to see. I visited St Peters basilica when I was in Rome and to be quite frank you would need several days just to get an overall look at most of the stuff in there. First time your brain can't even comprehend 30 % of it! It's unbelievable.

I agree. I'm not religious myself but I am a history nut! And the scale of the place is astonishing but so are so many churches in that place. The churches there do triple duty: a place of worship, art museum and history museum. Rome is great! It's smelly though once you get out of the touristy areas though. ; )

Im going back in April for 4th time..I love Rome so much and each time I go..I find something new to experience. Like going up the dome..for the first time this year!

Im 22 from northen Italy went for the first time in my life in Rome before covid, what to say... i cant even explain it, my jaw literally dropped a lot of times and when I entered the basilica i was tearing up(im not catholic)i cant explain why but it was such a beautiful and powerful emotion... its such an epic architecture..all the history and culture of this place, wow amazing i will for sure go back and visit more of it 🇮🇹

I don’t believe the words exist for the grandeur of this magnificent creation. The beauty and the monumental effort this must have taken to achieve is beyond my comprehension but not beyond my appreciation.
During the year when I was studying in Rome I would often take a walk to St. Peter's. As incredible as it may seem, sometimes there were less than 10 people in the entire basilica. A profoundly different experience from the one shown here. More reverent contemplation of the church's aesthetic grandeur without the thousand+ tourists. Still, I must give credit to you for making such a thorough and well executed documentation. You have captured the comprehensive scale, color and details of this space, its sculptural elements and surfaces. Thank you.
Watching this video is making me miss walking at St. Peter's Basilica. Although it was enormous and very crowded, I felt peace while I was there. Being in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament moved me to tears. And I was able to touch the tomb of Pope John Paul I from which my name was taken.
Just spectacular. It's impossible to conceptualize the enormity of human love dedicated to the funding and construction of such a splendid work of art. Truly a monument to the glory of the most high.

Things have changed. I was born in Rome but have lived in UK since 1970 but I visit as often as I can but, now there are long queues as there weren’t in the 60’s till mid 70’s. One could walk in and out as often as you liked. I remember there wasn’t any protective glass by the Pietà till in 1972 a mad man climbed over and started to hit the statue. To this day, I’m still amazed by the huge amount of art works within the Basilica as well as outside. It’s simply beautiful and majestic. A must for anyone, even if you’re not religious you will appreciate the splendour of it all.
The depth and the overpowering splendor of St Peter's basilica will not be matched by any other edifice on earth, and will remain so till the end of time!

Make every effort than you can. Sell your house, partner and children, to experience the most awe inspiring sight that you will ever see if you live to be 200. When I went many years ago, you could climb above the facade to the roof just under the dome, on which the large statues are placed. They are 20 foot or more, high. Yes, go, go, go.
First: There are no 'holy' places in Christianity. Faith is holy, not places or artefacts. No 'holy' people either, Jesus was the last. Second: It's all just silly superstition created by bonze age desert tribes. It isn't real. Third: It's a wonderful piece of art, you should visit sometime.

Im 22 from northen Italy went for the first time in my life in Rome before covid, what to say... i cant even explain it, my jaw literally dropped a lot of times and when I entered the basilica i was tearing up(im not catholic)i cant explain why but it was such a beautiful and powerful emotion... its such an epic architecture..all the history and culture of this place, wow amazing i will for sure go back and visit more of it 🇮🇹

It's absolutely spectacular, i am in awe, those words dont even get close to describing the stunning visual before you, when i walked in my jaw literally dropped to the floor, I was in the queue outside ,a long queue, wondering was it going to be worth it as I was very tired I hadn't done any research or checked it out on TH-cam, I thought it was just a normal church, ,when I walked in my jaw literally dropped to the floor, I have never experienced anything like this before, it's so vast and amazing and beautiful, its overwhelmingly beautiful, immense ,intoxicating , there is so much going on in that one building its hard to absorb it all, if man has the ability to create such stunning , overwhelmingly beautiful intricate and complicated architecture on earth, what must they be creating in heaven, I hate to leave in case I loose the wonderment and awe I feel being here, I feel so small and insignificant compared to the geniuses that created this magnificent building , if you want to experience a piece of heaven go visit this palace, you will never forget it,I know I wont for a long time 🥰🥰🥰🥰

When i went inside i was very emotional and did cry. I also attended the Holy mass in St Joseph Chapel. It was once in a lifetime experience.

During the year when I was studying in Rome I would often take a walk to St. Peter's. As incredible as it may seem, sometimes there were less than 10 people in the entire basilica. A profoundly different experience from the one shown here. More reverent contemplation of the church's aesthetic grandeur without the thousand+ tourists. Still, I must give credit to you for making such a thorough and well executed documentation. You have captured the comprehensive scale, color and details of this space, its sculptural elements and surfaces. Thank you.

Watching this video is making me miss walking at St. Peter's Basilica. Although it was enormous and very crowded, I felt peace while I was there. Being in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament moved me to tears. And I was able to touch the tomb of Pope John Paul I from which my name was taken.
What did you expect, some tiny church.
Just spectacular. It's impossible to conceptualize the enormity of human love dedicated to the funding and construction of such a splendid work of art. Truly a monument to the glory of the most high.
I had the Wonderful opportunity to see it in 2000 during a trip there. Photos Don't do it justice. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!

Things have changed. I was born in Rome but have lived in UK since 1970 but I visit as often as I can but, now there are long queues as there weren’t in the 60’s till mid 70’s. One could walk in and out as often as you liked. I remember there wasn’t any protective glass by the Pietà till in 1972 a mad man climbed over and started to hit the statue.
To this day, I’m still amazed by the huge amount of art works within the Basilica as well as outside.
It’s simply beautiful and majestic.
A must for anyone, even if you’re not religious you will appreciate the splendour of it all.
they called the man a mad man but i believe he was a muslim starting to destroy beautiful things that muslim usually do .

Make every effort than you can. Sell your house, partner and children, to experience the most awe inspiring sight that you will ever see if you live to be 200. When I went many years ago, you could climb above the facade to the roof just under the dome, on which the large statues are placed. They are 20 foot or more, high. Yes, go, go, go.

@@ProWalks I am not very good on my crutches even after donkeys years and I do not like crowds especially in Churches. I prefer a small (in my case a tiny) one but then we do not get as many coming to worship as His Holiness so I suppose it is appropriate for him haha
