Hey thanks! I actually remade this walk not to long ago but just haven't had a chance to post it up. I went in the afternoon when there was better lighting. Anyway...someday I'll get it posted. Thanks for watching!
Wanda Roderick why do you need to be so aggressive? I found the writing stayed up as long as needed. If you want to know more, you can always read a book.
I think that is great! Did your family happen to take any 8mm movies while you were there? I'm glad you enjoyed the video and were able to see some new areas!
What a great video. I love the facts coming up as you walk, explaining what we're seeing. Keep up the great work - your videos are definitely under-appreciated considering the number of people who are interested in ancient Rome.
Thanks Mike! I feel very lucky to live in the area and to be able to see all these wonderful places. Last weekend we went to Civita di Bagnoregio. I am going back soon to do a walk. It is a pretty cool place! Thanks for watching!

I visited Pompeii on Dec. 1979 at the time Pope John Paul II was one year in office and saw him at the Vatican giving his world address at the balcony during Christmas. We had a tour guide showing us around but it is best to go by yourself and absorb the ruins like this video. The weather that day when I was there was exactly the same as in this video, clear, mild winds and blue skies. Just a beautiful day to go through Pompeii and build up a appetite for a nice evening dinner in one of the many restaurants in Naples.
I'm here because I'm reading The last days of Pompeii and I was fascinated by the vivid depictions of Roman life. This is beyond my espectations. The city is so well preserved.
Hi Andrea, I posted up a new Pompeii 2020 walk to my channel. It is much longer and shows just about the entire city. There are timestamps in the description to help find your way around. It is 5 hours. :)
Just been to Pompeii today. It's incredible, the atmosphere is surreal, and amazing. Loved every minute of it, even though some stuff was closed due to COVID

Hey, you're welcome. Do you mind if I ask how many of the Pompeii walks did you watch? Just part 1 or more? Just curious. I was thinking about reposting the Pompeii walks as a single video. I have a couple more hours of video to add.
Pompeii is the place I want to visit before I die. I am so fascinated by their technology despite of the 2000 year history. The latrine with running water to flush is just amazing.
A really great video. So they had to clean out the 15 feet of debris and lava from the volcano what a wonderful job they did. I am really getting a great education from watching these videos. I have always heard of Pompeii but never thought very much about it.
Yeah, that is a ton of work. It would be hard not to rush to see what you can find. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I have a couple more hours of Pompeii video but it keeps getting put on the back burner. There is a lot more to see so I hope I can get them posted up for you soon. Thanks for watching.

I was there in 1971 for AIFS(American Institute for Foreign Study) impressed! Took my husband there in 1990, he was impressed as well. Would love to take grandchildren someday. Thank you for doing this.
Hi Margaret, were things much different there back in 1971. I hope you can go again. I do have an updated walk on my channel here: th-cam.com/video/sUYJ8LbF1Ys/w-d-xo.html
When I was there 2 years ago, I had no idea it was so HUGE! Great video, bringing back memories! Looks like you were there in the fall. I was there in June and the heat was dreadful!
Yeah, i think the size is always a surprise. It was to me for sure. Yeah, I try to avoid doing these walks during summer just because it is too hot and too crowded. I have another hour of Pompeii video to get posted up but it keeps getting put on the back burner. Thanks for watching!
I've been watching these videos to get some exercise in my work from home days during the coronavirus quarantine here in the US. Perfect pace for walking in place. The ~20 minute length is perfect for a short walk and the facts are very interesting. We may be at home, but I feel like I'm traveling the world with your videos (I'm going to watch the Sphinx at 8am video when I finish the Pompeii series then Portifino!)
Amazing Pompeii and Vesuvius Walking Tour ! Wonderful vídeos with all the details. A great and Historical and Archaeological job. A place to vist and to dream of. A great walker. From Rio, Brazil.
Great video. No annoying music or commentary. I've been there twice but the only part of the tour I've seen on this video was the forum. Everything else was new.
I would give a hand in exchange for the ability to time travel. Great video, great service, Thank you. I think some big company should make a video game (possibly an RPG) in an accurate reconstruction (as accurate as possible) of Pompeii with its life etc.
Excellent video! I love watching videos like these on my treadmill from Ireland 🇮🇪 the scenery is very similar here when comparing it with Ireland! Keep up the good work! From you fans in Ireland 🇮🇪
What a steady hand, for the first time saw your shadow. Wow must be hard work but so worthwhile for all us watching. I love to watch them during my lunch break and escape! Thank you so Much!
Hey, you're welcome! Thanks for watching. I am filming with a Gopro which is lightweight and easy to carry around for a long time. My shoulders get a little sore after a full day of carrying it around but for the most part the walks are very enjoyable on my end as well. :)
I hated History at school, partly because the teacher was a bore. However now I have a 7 year old and I'm re-educating myself through her as well as through videos like this. I never thought about Pompeii, heard about it but never knew much about it. Thank you for opening my eyes, fantastic video. I've subbed to see more and to learn more history. You make it fascinating with all your facts and information. I'm searching for more of your videos now. Love it xx
I just walked 28 miles in San Francisco two weeks and I was surprised. I was expecting to see needles and garbage everywhere but it was actually pretty clean...at least where I walked which was Chinatown, the Financial District, Fisherman's Wharf, and the GoldenGate Bridge....but still Pompeii is definitely cleaner. :)
Quiet, beautiful, pure, comfortable, natural eyes. Far away from the chaos of the people. Ancient people, they would live in peace. Would like to go back to the past again. Thank you for a good video...
I was watching the animated video On the distraction of Pompeii . The reinactment was so realistic, I imagined myself running for my life where there was no escape.
Thanks I just learned about 4k walks. Yours is the first I took. I've been to Pompeii so this is nice memories like you are really there. Thanks for the captions. Nicely done
Only now learning about 4K walks? :) Well I'm glad to take you along. I posted up a new Pompeii 2020 walk a while ago that has closed captions instead of captions embedded into the video. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for watching.
I just wanted to say thank you for these videos. In trying times it was hard for many not to go outside. And your content makes it possible to see this world we live in. Utterly brilliant content.
Great video!!!!! I really love Pompei, and with your videos I can visit it once more! Did you use a GoPro to make the movie? If yes would be great to remove some fisheye effect! Thanks for shooting!
Hey Paolo, Yeah I am using a Gopro for the walks. It is light weight and easy to walk with for a long time. The Gopro 5 has a Linear mode that takes out the fisheye effect but it crops a lot of the video. I could try taking out the fisheye effec in post processing though and see how it looks. Thanks for the feedback!
I read about Pompeii in children's magazine "Kumar" in Marathi language in Maharashtra state in India, in 1972. Since then I am fascinated by the event, city and remains of the city. I have not yet been able to visit Europe and Pompeii. But one day I will! The video is beautiful and the silence keeps my curiosity alive. The occasional titles are apt. It is one of the oldest known tragedy of human civilisation that has proof with remains. And it is created by nature and not by humans through wars or genocides. Many questions arise to know more about this unfortunate tragedy. The city is so beautiful. Even more beautiful than some modern cities. My prayers for those who lost lives in Pompeii.
Thank you for your video. I managed to sneak in a walking workout while enjoying the scenery and it ended so fast without me realising it. Thank you thank you!
Thanks for the tour. Gives a total different perspective to the area compared to still photos or documents I've seen. Incredible how well many structures have preserved.
Thanks...at some point..and I have no idea when at the moment, I'll post up the rest of my Pompeii walks. I have a couple more hours. Thanks for watching.
You can just picture all the people going about their daily lives and seeing Mt. Vesuvius in the background everyday not knowing that she is going to blow her top one day. I would love to go there and see it up close and Rome also :)
They didn't know Vesuvius was a volcano till the day before it erupted?! That must have sucked. Such an advanced city and it was destroyed on such a whim . . . Vesuvius had 8 major eruptions over 17,000 years and still more eruptions are forecasted. I live along the Gulf of Mexico and we are facing recurring disasters with hurricanes. We know for certain that more devastating storms are on the way.
what? are you really comparing that age with nowdays? There were no gps, satellites and all the technology we have now. They really couldn't imagine what was happening. Plus, Vesuvio was different than today. At that time it was more flat covered with plants.
Humans have good survival instincts as well as common sense. I can't help but wonder how many of the dead in Pompeii were looters gambling on a quick, though risky, booty.
Very likely a bunch of them were. I live on the gulf of Mexico and have gone through 2 major hurricanes and even though my area is very safe there were still looters in the days following while the power was still off and many were still evacuated.that being said there's always a few crazies that stay behind convinced they will be fine and some always die.
Thank you for such an amazing video. Last time I was there was in 2002 and there is so many things I do not remember and now I can see this beautiful video. I hope I go back soon.
I had the opportunity on June 2018 of walking almost the whole city and its surroundings. We walked for seven hours and it was great to see first hand the ruins and the hints of the luxurious and common aspects of the daily life of that city.
Yeah...I don't think people realize that they can easily spend seven hours there and still not see it all. I've never had a guide but it definitely helps to know what you're looking at.

Went there September 2017. One of THE best experiences of my life. Thank you for this video....
Amazing! You have a steady hand. I enjoyed the tour. Thank you so much!
Hey, you're welcome. Do you mind if I ask how many of the Pompeii walks did you watch? Just part 1 or more? Just curious. I was thinking about reposting the Pompeii walks as a single video. I have a couple more hours of video to add.
@@ProWalks i watched all
I'd absolutely love to visit here one day... fascinating history
Pompeii is the place I want to visit before I die. I am so fascinated by their technology despite of the 2000 year history. The latrine with running water to flush is just amazing.
Yeah it is a pretty amazing place. I hope you can make it there.
Very well done, thank you. I appreciate the sound people’s voices and of walking rather than music, it just makes it better. Thank you again.
Very nice. I would love to go there someday. Great video. The silence was respectful of what happened there.
Thanks so much for all your videos. They are simply wonderful.
+Carlos Arbetman Thank you! I'm enjoying making them. I will have more posted up soon.
The silence/natural sound and fun facts in the video is so good, keeps me engaged. Thank you 🙏🏽
This is very well done! Thank you for posting this.
Hi, you're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just re-walked this whole first part in better sunlight and will be posting a full four hour walking tour of Pompeii soon. The titles and captions are taking a while. :)
Fabulous virtual walk!!! Perfect. When I open it to full screen, I'm almost there in the Pompeii streets myself.
Perfect! Yeah, watching these on a big 4k TV is actually pretty cool.
You did a fantastic job!! Was amazing to see!! I would love to go!
Hey Cal Gary, Thanks! I've got about 3 more hours of Pompeii video to get posted up. I'm working on it now.
BLOATED GOAT
Sir, I wanted this video never to end. I can't recall ever enjoying Pompeii history and photography more than I just did. I just discovered you a few days ago and I subscribed and liked. You are a true artist. My thanks. BG
Have never been there so glad I watched this, also interesting is that some of the most iconic areas were only discovered in the 19th century.
13:42 Can anyone guess the camera?
Gopro hero 6
go pro sum idk
Thank you for this video. No annoying music or blather. If we ever make it back to Italy, I want to make a point of seeing Pompeii.
I absolutely loved this!
Amazing Pompeii and Vesuvius Walking Tour ! Wonderful vídeos with all the details. A great and Historical and Archaeological job. A place to vist and to dream of. A great walker. From Rio, Brazil.
Hey, thanks! I have many more walks to post up. Next will be Venice, Italy. Thanks for watching!
A blast from the past!
King Robert No pun intended, lol?
Great video. No annoying music or commentary. I've been there twice but the only part of the tour I've seen on this video was the forum. Everything else was new.
I would give a hand in exchange for the ability to time travel. Great video, great service, Thank you.
I think some big company should make a video game (possibly an RPG) in an accurate reconstruction (as accurate as possible) of Pompeii with its life etc.
Same! Was just thinking about this exact thing. Surprised no one has done it yet!
Excellent video! I love watching videos like these on my treadmill from Ireland 🇮🇪 the scenery is very similar here when comparing it with Ireland! Keep up the good work! From you fans in Ireland 🇮🇪
The park is amazing. Hope someday I can go there
What a steady hand, for the first time saw your shadow.
Way to pick beautiful places! Nice@@ProWalks

"" Greetings from Greece ""
I hated History at school, partly because the teacher was a bore. However now I have a 7 year old and I'm re-educating myself through her as well as through videos like this. I never thought about Pompeii, heard about it but never knew much about it. Thank you for opening my eyes, fantastic video. I've subbed to see more and to learn more history.
You make it fascinating with all your facts and information. I'm searching for more of your videos now. Love it xx
I'd probably go there; it looks safer and cleaner than San Francisco
I just walked 28 miles in San Francisco two weeks and I was surprised. I was expecting to see needles and garbage everywhere but it was actually pretty clean...at least where I walked which was Chinatown, the Financial District, Fisherman's Wharf, and the GoldenGate Bridge....but still Pompeii is definitely cleaner. :)
The city dump is cleaner and safer than SF.
Most places are
San Francisco is nice. I've been there many times and it was clean, I would not say the same about Tijuana or parts of Beijing.
@@taotuhao5969 It isn't clean anymore. Drug addicts, homeless, garbage in the street.
Quiet, beautiful, pure, comfortable, natural eyes. Far away from the chaos of the people. Ancient people, they would live in peace. Would like to go back to the past again. Thank you for a good video...
I was watching the animated video
On the distraction of Pompeii .
The reinactment was so realistic,
I imagined myself running for my
life where there was no escape.
What do you mean distraction of pompeii?
Thanks I just learned about 4k walks. Yours is the first I took. I've been to Pompeii so this is nice memories like you are really there. Thanks for the captions. Nicely done
Only now learning about 4K walks? :) Well I'm glad to take you along. I posted up a new Pompeii 2020 walk a while ago that has closed captions instead of captions embedded into the video. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. Thanks for watching.
excelente parabéns e muito obrigado
Would love to try myself, but i'd need the original file, GoPro out of the box, so I can use the remove fisheye effect using GoPro Studio! ;)
Thank you so much for sharing this! The history and captains were perfect!
What month and year was this? I just toured a small portion of Pompeii and I would have liked to have seen much more. Thank you for your video.
thank you I will never be able to see this in person. Thank you so much, really enjoyed and looking forward to more of your videos. Well done
Very nice thaks you
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your video. I managed to sneak in a walking workout while enjoying the scenery and it ended so fast without me realising it. Thank you thank you!
That's the idea! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!
So beautiful serene and quiet . Great tour. The only unpleasant moment on 14:21 when all those from CHINA pass by
Thanks for the tour. Gives a total different perspective to the area compared to still photos or documents I've seen. Incredible how well many structures have preserved.
Why the hell should someone bomb Pompeii in ww2...
Unbelievable
Maybe to win WWII?
@@winthropallegaert3793 Yes, because the army of the dead of Pompeii could be a danger to everyone, uh?
@Linda Pettigrew lol shut up Linda.
Spongeofdoom yes No need to be a rude fuck.
@@angelit161 Yes because saying fuck after your sentence really makes it meaningful fuck.
Excellent video, and no annoying music. Thanks for doing such a great job.
Superb. Absolutely Superb. Not only the Video but the great planning and study that has been done by you to make this video.
Hey, thanks for watching! I have more Pompeii videos to post up. I'm a little behind. :)
Imagine what is left to find!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to record and upload
I can't stress enough how much I need to watch videos of Italy before 2020 right now. Thank you.
I was there , the mam ofI have see it, with my lovely Yvonne, and i now. There is notting , That is the nature, I am Still .
