The history of the Kashan rose ceremony
Iranians were the first people who came up with the idea of inventing a device for distilling liquids and extracting their essence. This is shown by the historical documents about the rose water industry. The sages of ancient Greece did not know about liquid distillation and used only the extract of red leaves and its oil. Distillation is the basis of many chemical sciences that we have today, and because of this, Iranians have played a big role in the development of this science. Jabarban al-Hyan Sufi can be considered the father of chemistry in this field. The distilled water of the rose, which is called gulab, has been used in the past and now to strengthen the stomach and treat stomach and intestinal pains.
In spring, Kashan becomes a pleasant destination for Iranian and foreign tourists with its Gulab Giri festival. This festival, which is held from May 15 to 25, is a beautiful and fragrant display of the processing of colorful flowers.
In the past, Kashan's rose-making ceremony was carried out by observing certain customs and the flowers of the garden were transported to the rose-making workshop with donkeys and instruments. Of course, still in some parts of Kashan, these rituals are observed and Niaser flowers are collected by camels and rose water is produced according to a 140-year-old tradition.
