Hi Peter, I've just found this video of yours I've never seen it before, thank you for sharing this, graham was my grandad and I don't have many videos of him so lovely to see☺️ P.s I sure do miss his stories
Hi Emilie, Thank you, you had a wonderful Granddad and I miss his stories too. Thanks again and so glad you found my channel, all the best and stay safe.
Loved the "smoking tea story"! I am glad you captured this video of an awesome man! I'm sure Graham and Audrey's family appreciate this awesome tribute! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Came across this video by chance but what a great individual and he would be the cool, calm guy I would want around in a storm. Interested to see what other content you upload. 1x new subscriber, thanks for sharing.
Peter - thank you so much for recording and posting those guys and the many - then - manned light stations which were part of your life. I was a keeper for twenty years and went through the ugly process of Automation adopted by the Heads of Department here in New Zealand (1980's) which unfortunately left bad memories. Now at eighty I can relate to the somewhat similar experiences and life I so miss thanks to your foresight in recording this unique piece of history. Well done. Cheers. Charlie Wallace .
Hello Charlie and Hello New Zealand, Thank you for your memories, and yes I agree that some progress sucks. I wasn't too impressed with loosing the job that I loved either, and I must admit that editing these videos that I took has brought lots of those feelings, good and bad, flooding back again . Luckily though, most are good. It's good when I hear from other "Lighthouse Keepers" from around the world, perhaps somebody in your family should record your Lighthouse memories to share on You Tube? Take care and stay safe, Thanks again.
Hi Peter, I recently posted a comment to which you replied. I have a couple of items which may or may not be of interest to you if you think you might be interested drop me an e-mail. Charlie
Hi Peter, Nothing too exciting but I have a Tech. Manual you might be interested in adding to your collection and would like to post it to you but not too sure how the privacy thing works re- getting your address. Cheers.
Graham was a good friend, and a great raconteur, and his tales of life in the Lighthouse Service are legendary. I was honoured to be asked to speak at his funeral, and proud to be able to write the obituary that appeared in LAMP, the journal of the Association of Lighthouse Keepers www.alk.org.uk
Hi Patrick, Yes he was one in a million, I served with Graham at St. Catherines and it was more than a shock to hear that he had gone to that big Lighthouse in the sky, take care.
Fantastic videos and stories Peter, Many Thanks for sharing. Graham mentions Spurn Point lighthouse, cant post link, but if you look on youtube for "RNLI Spurn" there's a three hour video, go to 1hr 4mins; great clip of Spurn Lighthouse, worth watching!
@@PeterHalil Awesome! Loving the videos. Was always infatuated with Inchkeith lighthouse on the Forth, which the Stevensons used for experimenting with new equipment. Was gutted when the NLB converted it from engine and batteries to solar. They ripped it bare, even took out the toilet bowl! :(
@@perseveremarine1461 Thanks, I have a video still to work on that shows me cleaning the engine room and polishing the engines etc. Next you see the engine room with the engines all gone and the demolition men flattening the place! Some people have no souls.
I agree a very nice guy was Graham, Most of the Keepers I met were family men but I did meet a good amount of single men. Most were brilliant with great sense of humours and one or two you would think a Lighthouse is the best place to lock them away in!...LOL
@@PeterHalil if that is the case then I look forwards to more material on this subject , I am a 38 year service Railwayman but have always loved lighthouses since I looked down from beachy head and saw the lighthouse there as a 14 year old . thank you.
Another great video, Peter. Did you ever work on a Lightship? I used to pass Varne and South Goodwin every day when working on the ferries, back in the 70s / 80s
I’m guessing the kissing Anneka Rice early one morning didn’t make his personal highlights as a keeper, I’ve watched this one, well listened to it many times while working, an I have to say I still find it very amusing to hear the chain an padlock story, like many of the keepers interviews I just wish they was all that much longer, I’m sure I said it before, but you should go interview them again.
Mr. Fearn sure sounded like a great storyteller. That's the type of person I could sit and listen to for hours. But Peter, how about you turning the camera around and doing an interview on yourself. I'm sure you have some very entertaining and interesting stories yourself !!!

Lovely manner. Bet he was an easy one to get along with. A fitting tribute and yet another excellent film. Cheers!
Thank you and yes he was really easy going, more like a very humorous best friend than a boss.
What a calm, soothing man. Great inteview Mr. Halil, with a great man. May he rest in peace.
Thank you he was a great boss to be around.
...not hardly enough. Many thanks for giving us all a peek into this society of Lighthouse Keepers.
Thanks, more interviews coming.
Fascinating, I could listen for hours and hours more.
Thanks, that is my one major regret that I didn't record hours of Graham, he was a born story teller.
I guess Im kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online?
@Erik Toby i use Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Layton Dorian yup, have been using Flixzone for since april myself =)
@Layton Dorian Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!!
Thanks for this one too Peter. Sorry to see Graham had died. He reminds me of some of the older Signalmen in my own past. Jack.
Cheers, I'm sorry too but at least I got to serve with him so will always have those memories I hope.
Thanks for posting! Lovely to here these wonderful stories, told with such charm and charisma.
Thank you, Graham was a pleasure to be around, and always telling us stories.
pure gold, glad there is more to come.
Thank you, yes there is still a fair bit more to come.
Excellent! Thank you for sharing!
You are welcome, take care.
Enjoying your channel enormously, although saddened to have just discovered this profession. I feel like I was made for it!
Thank you very much for your comments, sorry that you missed out on being one of us few, take care.

Cheers for that, and yes I could listen to Graham all day, a true Gent, take care.

I heard longships was the most unpopular post , would be good to hear some of the stories from the old hands that worked there
A few in interviews mentioned they were on there, but can't remember much detail on what they said as I haven't edited those bits yet.
