I played BGH using Zerg vs a Terran. Absolute nightmare. T mass Tank Goliath chokes up every entrance and Z can't do anything. Just Defiler delaying and waiting for death.
When Shine made those 15 mutas, he really had to use them to kill as many tanks as possible, possibly 20 of them. Instead he flew to an expansion and killed like 18 SCVs when Flash had 86 of them, and of course giving Flash time to make goliaths and he kept most of his tanks alive ... horrible decision making from Shine.
well it wasnt that bad the issue is he took too long and didn't scour the map to notice where all the tanks are hiding which meant he didnt want to waste time hunting for the groups around...he did eco damage since that is secure and was banking on the ultras more than the mutas to counter things in the long run. The bad decision was staying to fight the goliaths after he broke that base initially rather than focus on the tanks and hit and run as they were trying to reinforce it...

Shine helped Flash out by killing those SCVs with the mutas. Flash had too many SCVs, so killing them just freed up more supply so Flash could build a bigger army.

4:06 arti critiquing late Engineer +1 range upgrade, but actually Flash as soon as flash got his gas he started the upgrade. You can see gas tick to 104 and immediately Flash starts the upgrade. 20-30 seconds late could be a build order and resource management allocation timings.
Such a great game. Flash's mech build getting stronger and stronger, I like that. Terran factory units are so cool. Zerg should have planned a switch to Queens instead of those 15 un-upgraded Mutalisks. Also, someone asked why Muta-Ling doesn't work agains mech? This is why. Goliaths destroy them alone. Goliaths and Siege Tanks just demolish everything, including the Ultras. Hydras were needed badly in this one.
Starcraft is so crazy to me. *slight spoilers ahead At 12:25 Flash has as much supply in workers alone as Shine's whole supply, and has almost the same amount further as army. Yet somehow this is the 1/2 way point of the video. I haven't watched past this point yet, but I find it crazy that the match wasn't over in a couple minutes. And I know I've seen this is other games as well. Defenders advantage that strong?!
Zerg is just broken like that. Can be at half-ish the supply of T or P (not to mention way less workers) at certain points of games and sometimes be fine. Plenty of TvZs where you see the Zerg at 95 or 100 supply end up beating a Terran who's at 180 supply because el oh el dark swarm/lurkers/etc. Part of me hates this, but then part of me realizes Zerg would probably be too weak if Blizzard had ever gotten rid of dark swarm. Zerg is still my least favorite race in BW because of how gimmicky they feel, though. But maybe it's good to have a villain lol
Honestly, I felt that Shine kinda threw this on at least a few occasions / decisions: 1) After initially doing well with the mutas against the M&M combo, initially, he *suddenly STOPS doing the hit & run and just fights the Marines head-on ?!* Yeah, he still wins the fight, but it's not *as "clean"* as it could have been, and his losses / damage taken was too hight !! That happened like *TWICE too... O_o* 2) Not making enough upgrades and *IN TIME* ... Given his economy, he should have had no trouble with that, especially when he saw that MECH IS COMING. Just look at those ultras getting absolutely BLASTED there in the end thanks to not having enough upgrades... :O 3) The way *he misused these 15 mutas he made in the late-game* and went after SCVs... Nothing bad with that in itself, but *he should have been able to achieve SO MUCH MORE !! :O ...* *REALLY weird,* rather, for a player of Shine's calibre... .
FWIW I don't think it's fair to call them 'good' and 'bad' games; if a game is more orthodox and textbook, I still really appreciate the commentary that talks about how they're both hitting their timings, that standard counterplay occurred, et cetera. It's nice to know on a consistent basis how the matchups are going, even if it is say a grindy TvT as long as we're not only fed those matchups. Even with the tons of TvP the matchup is so volatile and being re-interpreted with Flash's innovations they're still all very exciting to watch.
isnt it better for terran to go +1 armor to counter mutas? it basicly counts as +3 for their bouncing attack, and also makes scvs and medics harder to kill, less energy spend on healing
04:10 -- no, Flash was *NOT "late"* , Arty... That E-Bay had literally *JUST finished* and Flash had literally *JUST acquired the needed gas to start the upgrade... -_-* Sheeshh... .
Flash can even make goliaths look like they aren't garbage against mutas! I'm impressed that his ping is so good in Korea when he lives on Mt. Olympus.
Shine lost one of his bases as he dropped so much supply into Flash's main, and only took out a supply depot. The switch back into mutas would have been much more effective with guardians than straight up harass on the terran's third base. It's a good muta map, but it's an even BETTER guardian map against terran! Those factories were so close to the high ground, killing three of them for what is essentially a low investment in units in comparison would've swung the game back into the zerg's favor enough to make ultras viable.
8:20 I think you brought up the point that for flash, that trade is worth it due to his insane macro. For me that would've been a bad trade, for him it's very good.
Actually, it's not if you think about it. Two High Templars are still useful even after they spend their energy, because they can turn into a very powerful combat unit. In contrast, in order to make a Dark Achon, you need to give up on 2 very useful combat, invisible units. Remember, they can be devastating if your opponent doesn't have detection. Even if he/she has, 2 DTs are still able to kill a lot of units, unless heavily outnumbered. Finally, one Dark Archon is honestly just a gimmick unit. It has no attack, and its spells are highly situational. The opportunity cost is too high.
On the bases where muta's have fog of war to help harass why does the terran not float a building over the turrets to get vision and prevent targeting of the turrets?
