LIGHTS: I totally forgot to mention my worklight. It's a cheap LED tape light from Amazon. The important thing is that you get one with a colour temperature of 5000k. I also bought some corner connectors to do all the turns.

STORING BIG MATERIALS: I actually try to avoid keeping a lot of big materials. I will never really have more than one sheet of XPS foam at a time (well on 1/2" and one 1 1/2"). I break them down into smaller pieces and just stack them against the wall beside my desk along with sheets of foamcore and anything else of similar size.

This was surprisingly satisfying to watch, but listening to your voice is always a pleasure as I've said before.
Thank you so much for this. I will be building my own space soon and this really helped me with some new ideas that I was having trouble with figuring out exactly how to build.

You have helped me out of a serious funk while recovering from some medical issues. You have also tuned me back into D&D which I did years ago and have always loved. Please keep the videos coming. Glad to hear you haven't joined those who have gone missing! Nice workplace, nice vid, thanks! I paint the tops of my paint bottles to make it easier to see what color is inside. White tops painted show the actual colors better than just looking at the bottle.
That's what I do also, inspired by seeing the pain in the recess of the caps of Jeremy's dropper bottle paints.
Just want to warn you, stacking your molds on top of each other can warp them. (something I learnt in my spfx / prosthetics job), your best bet is to have them sit on a flat surface, if you do layer them, using something like mdf or coreflute that wont warp is a good way to go about it. The last thing you want is an expensive mold to warp. Fantastic video btw! I seriously need to sort out my room and this have given me some great ideas!

Don't forget your towel. LoL! Oh, and Don't Panic. I'm actually in the process of building my own desk out of the nicer plywood to save money and watching you go through yours is giving me more ideas. Thank you very much. Very cool desk set up. And I agree, a clean work space is best. I almost forgot. Sprues are great for making long lengths of skinny what ever. In the modeling world they make great antenna wire or electric/telephone pole wires. In my smaller diecast world they do the same thing and more like wire rigging of sorts and very small hoses or wires. Very versatile. Simply heat it and stretch it to the thickness you need. But you probably already knew that.
99% isopropyl alcohol the drugstore or supermarket will clean most of those acrylic paint stains right off the cutting mat. It worked on mine. If the paint has been dried on for a while you might need to leave it soaking under a few paper towels saturated with a mix of the alcohol and water (or just pick up some 70% isopropyl while you are at it for that use).

Thanks outstanding and well done. One suggestion i leraned from the singer rod stewart who is builds models on the road. He uses either poster board or foam core for a mat you might want to have a piece you wipe out and threw away after use. Also baby wipes or clorax wipes for cleaning your hands and surface or a bottle of cleaner since you have paper towels. And two bottles one of super clean or la clean and ethonal to clean miniatures of paint that is done in error. The super clean will remove most paint and the ethonal will remove the rest or a jar of brake fluid also good for removing paint. As far as music i need it lots if noise around. I think of you liking heavy metal or 70s rock.. Good luck and thanks
Greetings! Thanx for this video. Before I became homeless a couple months ago I had a pretty decent desktop/workspace going on for my hobby stuff. But yours is so much better organized than mine was, w/ TONS of storage space. I'm hoping to land a new apartment soon and when I do ill be referencing this and a couple other of your workspace vids to make a set-up specially tailored for me, inspired by you. So yeah. Love your videos. The wife and I just watched this one and Episode 222: The ONLY things you NEED to START making TERRAIN! While watching these you say that you hope they are interesting and helpful (or something like that). I got to say, very much to both. While watching 222, we found that we actually have most of what you were talking about. I didn't realize that. While watching this one, it opened the conversation about how to set up and get started. Honestly, I feel that videos such as these are even more informational and helpful than your actual builds at times. I know this is an older video, but it still checks out. I also hope that you see this so you know how inspirational you have been. I just want to thank you for helping to pull me out of a dark space and give me some inspiration to do...something. Currently I'm waiting on the Judge's decision on my long running Disability claim (live in the States). If things go well, I may be able to get into this hobby. Either way, just watching your videos has helped pull me out of a deep depression. I still have a ways to go, but doing something productive has shined that light at the end of the tunnel. Again, thank you.
This is truly next level. Too cool but also within means with a little saving and dedication. I love that you ended with clutter and mess management. That was going to be my question, how do you manage the mess. Clean as you go and keep the shop vac and paper towels at the ready. Those will be my next purchases. The 10 gallon is too bulking and isn't working out too well. And last count I had three rolls of paper towels floating around the work shop. Time to streamline!

Awesome, buddy...my craft areas are in 3 different places...an area set up for mini painting off my game room...terrain and model assembly area in a separate area with a lifetime of collections that have no space to display them :( and a new air brush station in my work shop, which a new step for me...just keep spreading out...no matter how much room I have...will try to post a vid when I have uncovered enough surfaces :D...thanks for the vid...always enjoy what you share...JIm

I am a few weeks away from setting up my new hobby space, and my biggest takeaways here are i need a small shopvac at the ready and a paper towel holder... honestly, between the little pits of junk and paper towel floating around it creates 90% of the mess
Shop vac is an often missed but super important bit of kit. Being able to quickly clean up is great for restarting creativity and motivation to keep working.

loved the shallow drawer for tools. Mine would be be on the Right. I discovers as a teacher I lay everything scissors, rulers, laser pointer, remotes, erasers etc... on my right . My desk had a drawer I was able to put a floating insert tray in on the right and used it all the time.

It was a great time watching this video! Really nice... I'm actually using IKEA stuff for my studio at the moment... A couple of desks combined and a lot of "Billy" shelves... But the problem was always about the desk top... My next upgrade will be a kitchen set for sure! Thanks for sharing J!

best advise of whole video (That was great) was the small Shop vac, Love that, even though I have vacuumed I never thought about keeping a small shop vac right there, any many times stuff sits till I start vacuuming ! Been planning to make a work table out of this sturdy old spare door I've had lying around, just need to get a couple of matching cabinets to place it onto now. Will definitely look into that LED light strip for above it though. Lots of great little quality of life pieces in this build that I'll try and include in mine.

This is awesome! We moved house recently, and umm now lucky enough to have my own hobby room which is currently about 70% finished. Iv still got to make some shelves for just above my workspace, and I'm seriously considering building some of your "J" shelves for that 😃
I am amazed by your workspace. I have a dedicated space, a 20x20 outbuilding with AC, and more power than I will ever use. The guy I bought my house from was the carpentry instructor at the local school of the arts, so he had the building upgraded with its own 100amp panel with outlets for full size wood working equipment. There are plenty of windows and even a large double door that I can open up in nice weather. Lots of light, too, with four 48 inch fluorescent fixtures. The crappy part is the last time someone put shingles on the roof, they ripped off the old ones and slapped new ones down without underlayment. Water got in and ruined two of my light fixtures. (led fixtures will replace them.) Organized? Hehe... maybe in a very loose archaeological sense, but I do have separate "stations" for construction/assembly, painting, and flocking. Plus a separate table for my Hirst Arts molds. EDIT: I think my workspace is like the "upsidedown" version of yours. It has a lot of the same things... but somehow it is fundamentally... wrong... lol
those uper cabinets are genius! I was thinking shelves but this would pass the wife test👍 my desk is in the corner of my living room so having doors to hide my junk behind would be ideal. thanks for sharing 🤤

I have one of those rolling Walmart three-drawer carts for tools, twine, bits and bobs. And two under-bed totes for flat sticks, bags of naturals, sands and stones, rolls of foil and parchment paper, and other miscellany. And a small plastic three-drawer thing for my Tamiya paints and citadel washes. I keep my craft paints in a herd on my desk, the caps painted with the paint in each bottle for color identification, and a shelf attached to a window sill for glues. Spray paints are stored outside. My closet has a couple of cubic meters of EPS, XPS, carboard, foamboard, and other bulk materials that friends have given me from various places. - I am a LOT less organized than Jeremy, but it works for me. I am just at a loss as to where to put a Proxxon foam cutter table in my space...

I really enjoy your videos. If you want to clean your cutting mats try "The Masters" Brush Cleaner & Preserver". It cleans oil paints, acrylics, watercolors, stains, etc. Works great on dried paints. It's also the best brush cleaner and preserver around. Use it to clean your brushes, rinse well, wipe most of the water off then add a bit more some of the cleaner and shape the brush (flat, point, round) and let dry. Wet the shaped brush before paining.
Hi Dude ! I've seen a lot of model rooms recently, preparing my own project. Yours is almost the same i had in mind, and it is perfect and gives me the reality view that was missing to me. My workbench will have a U shape, but will be very similar to yours. Thank you for sharing ! And I have to say… the black color is really "top-class" All the best from France. ;-)

I have a very special kabinet next to my desk, my dad used it for years and now i use it. Its an old kabinet a cleaning company used to use not sure if you can get it anywhere. But its nice and unqiue, besides being able to hold a ton of stuff its also highly cutosmizable
If you want an idea for size i could fit all your paint, airbursh comperosor and everything on the selves in about 2 drawers of that kabinet with allot of space left
