None of them are world famous actors, they fit their characters really well and every single one of them seems excited about the project. This is how you make a good show
as it shouldve always been. affordable but great new actors + strong IP + good writing. The world is so done with generic movies where most of the budget is for casting Dwayne Johnson or Gal Gadot
emily which playing nami had already 2 good movies on netflix, its the only one i could say is already known from other work and also Mackenyu i seen him in rorunin kenshin the final movie.

Mackenyu is an exception... He has some exposures... specially in taking roles of anime characters in live adaptation... You should check his fight scenes in Rurouni Kenshin... dude is a literal samurai ninja in that film...
All the casting choices are good but the fact that they've found the real life version of Usopp is really amazing. The man doesn't have to play him, he is already Usopp.

this cast has single handedly schooled every stuck up ass actor in hollywood, this is exactly how you promote a project, no attack on the fans no disrespect to the source material and creator, no trying to bring your "own version" of the property you are trying to adapt, they were respectful and understanding of the fanbase and most importantly respectful to oda and one piece, this cast turned me from being 100% against this project to being hopeful that it will succeed, you can see the love and dedication they have and in interviews it showed that they although working hard had a fun time doing the show, good on them they have set the bar high for all other actors out there to get off their high horse and show some humility much luck to them not only in one piece but also in their future projects.

The cast and writers of Disney's Little Mermaid blamed the audience for being racists that's why the movie flopped. And now the lead actress of Snow White (or should we say, Snow Brown) is lambasting and disrespecting the original Snow White cartoon, and by extension, disrespecting all the generations of men and women who grew up with the original Snow White and loved it.

Omg this so much! What I noticed here is nobody feels the need to emphasize that the cast is diverse and how important representation is because the source material already is all that, no need to point it out. They focus on talking about the plot and characters and the awesome anime Oda created.
Unlike the Rings of Power where they disrespected Tolkiens work and changed the races of characters to fit their woke narrative. Then later blamed the fans for not liking the cast and calling them racists.
The One Piece adaptation feels already so refreshing because they focus on what's important and that is the story and characters we all love. I have to say whoever helped promoting this show did a really good job.
the most humble, down to earth and motivated cast i've ever seen. the fact that they bond with each other outside shooting hours also warms my heart. i don't doubt for a second that this adaptation will exceed our expectations and be a huge success.
How can you NOT believe in this cast? They have been so wholesome and thankful to all of the fans that are tuning into this series tomorrow knowing how terrible live-action adaptations can be. It makes it seem double ironic that this is the same studio that essentially made that god-awful Netboy Bopflix trash fire. (Tomorrow Studios)
Seems like Netflix has finally learned it's lesson with live-action anime adaptations. This has been such a refreshing redemption arc for them and I am not only excited, but highly motivated to sit down and binge the entirety of this series. Thank you SO MUCH to the cast that portrays these wonderful characters we love so much. You guys are amazing!

1) We need to wait until we've seen all the episodes to really know, 2) This is maybe true for THIS adaptation, the nextr one may be as bad as the others ones. All of that is just PR don't forget.

@Qual_ Agreed, the only reason why this one just might pull it off is because the cast and crew were passionate about the source material and Oda kept them on a tight leash.
If the cast/crew and creator don't care as much for, say, the Yu Yu Hakusho project, Netflix WILL do what they always do and F it up.

Oda already said it met his expectations!! He was the Co-executive producer of the series, and he did not hesitate when he saw anything that he did not like in the script. This will be the first Live action anime tv series that will be good! If you all like one piece, then trust in Oda sensei and give your respect to the actors who made our favorite crew come to life! Can't wait to see it!!🤩

Perhaps you shouldn't be SO happy about that. Movies and series shot in South Africa tend to be low-energy, using actors just fresh out of acting school and tend to be usually on the low-budget production spectrum (the last one is isn't necessarily bad, but it tends to be always in the B-movie category).
One of the Death Race sequels was shot there, as was one of the Tremor sequels, and the recent Judge Dredd and several others you might have seen and not known it was. Pretty much ALL of them were quite forgettable.
I don't think that is going to be this production issue. So far the later trailers have looked good, and it's a traditional heroic journey story, which ACTUALLY takes more effort to mess up than do right. If anything, the only way this can actually not work, is if the CGI is bad, and that doesn't seem to look like that's the issue, because it seems they actually took TIME to refine the CGI in the trailers.
A big thank you to the cast, directors, writers, everyone in the crew, and Netflix for working very hard and for bringing the most loved anime/manga to live action! And of course, a huge thank you as well to Oda-sensei for his time, effort and everything in between, in creating this masterpiece several years ago! ❤

Everyone seems to have nailed it. The cast, the writers, the set designers, the composers, the post production staff, every one. All together you guys have produced a master piece.
I am filmmaker (but not anime/manga fan) and multiple times across season I asked myself "how can this be so good??". Literally everything you mentioned and more was top notch in every scene. Such a wonderful show that got elevated in personal list of shows to the top tier right there with Smallville or The Office. I am floored.
This cast is just something else man........fucking amazing!
They’ve made me a believer. Should this fail, highly unlikely, it won’t be off the backs of the crew and actors who seem to have given One Piece Netflix, the love it deserves. Can’t wait!!

They deserve all the success in the world, I can't even begin to imagine the people behind the Marvel movies or Disney Live Actions showing even 1% of the humility, respect, and love for the source material the the OPLA crew has!
I am so excited for Season 2, this is by far the my absolute favorite show on Netflix. Thank for making this a reality to the whole One piece team.

You say that as if one piece is a very unknown series lol it's obviously for the numbers too
it is actually amazing what you guys have done with such a HARD adaptation. I am really grateful for the effort of the whole team in doing this, as it is a love letter to a masterpiece, not knowing how it will play out in the end. in other words, it's a real romance, an adventure!
I do have my fears for an eventual continuation of the series, as the more you go on with this material, the harder it will get to not delve into the uncanny valley, where I just can't imagine Chopper, Franky or Jimbe not being cursed as heck xD
There are many challenges ahead of you, and even if some things may feel off, please, keep that energy and I am SURE good things will come from this teamwork. And I hope we can have the Castlevania treatment of bigger seasons down the line. I know One Piece is too huge to adapt entirely, but 8 episodes are just too rushed for the story, even if I can understand why it was like that.
I love this crew. It didn't take a while for me to love each of their characters as much as I love the OG strawhats. This project was daunting and they knew it. Thank you for the passion and hard work you've poured into this.

I feel like one of the best decisions they made was to cast actors who are not overly famous. These guys are so likeable because they still feel like real, authentic people lmao

I swear, I am usually not like that, but I love all of this and I can't wait for more. But I will. Everything fits. I used my weekend for this, and this 8 episodes contain the entire prologue without leaving you with the feeling that something missed. It doesn't do the weird, japano-like artificial acting to absolutely stay true to the original, nothing is forced, the artwork? Scenery? The picture in whole is very natural, and to avoid spoiler I just say what was decided about the flashbacks and Garp was absolutely amazing. We are at episode 1100 or so, and thats a shitload of story to recreate, but; Keep the quality. Take your time, keep the artistic freedom you took to dense the first season into 8 episodes and enjoy what you do, the spirit here is also fantastic. If this is Doctor Who all over again and takes 20 years to get to Big Mom, then I'm on board. Thank you for that Netflix 🍺

I watched the season this week and I really love it. Of course not everything could be implemented 1 to 1, but the way it was done instead is really ingenious. It's a real shame that, under favorable circumstances, we have to wait until 2025 until (hopefully) a second season comes. That would be so cool. The actors do a really good job. I'm really extremely excited. Really. Big praise to the actors.
Ich hab mir die Staffel diese Woche angeschaut und ich bin echt begeistert. Natürlich konnte nicht alles 1 zu 1 umgesetzt werden, aber wie es stattdessen gemacht wurde ist wirklich genial. Es ist wirklich schade, dass wir uns, unter günstigen Umständen, noch bis 2025 gedulden müssen, bis ( hoffentlich ) eine zweite Staffel kommt. Das wär so cool. Die Darsteller machen einen richtig guten Job. Bin echt extrem begeistert. Wirklich. Großes Lob an die Schauspieler.

I've watched a lot of fun cast members of my favourite shows but these guys...I think they're hands down the best cast of a series I've ever seen. I've never seen so much genuine love and passion for a project from actors before. And love for the creator, the cast and crew, towards the fans. They made me finally restart the One Piece anime after I dropped it after 10 episodes, and now I've already watched 65 episodes! Even though I thought I'd just watch up to the Arlong arc coz I heard the live action will only cover until that!
And I'm so happy to finally be able to understand what makes One Piece such a legendary story. Thank you to the live action team for bringing this story and these characters to real life!
I'm not the OP fan, just 90s kid who read manga being teenager. When I saw teaser, I think smth like "no, please!". Netflix's LA are my nightmare. But after many videos with cast, I'm so excited and I crying. So many love and smth that I can't explain. Its perfect LA Strawhats crew. Doesn't matter will be show good or not, I really love this crew. Incredible. Thanks for my emotions.

From the moment the cast was shown, I've been on board. That lil video with them made me smile all throughout. I've defended all of them since then, they are the perfect cast.
I'm in love with this cast. I genuinely think it has the most perfect casting out of any project I've ever seen. Not only are these actors really down to earth people, but they embody their characters so well.

They need to get paid way more. It cost over a 100 million in production and the main cast collectively got paid around a million. The highest grossing Netflix show around the globe their season 2 contract should be a 1 million minimum each.
