I love how the music is so calm in this video, but when you go into one, it’s like a heavy metal concert 😂

Had my very first MRI on Sunday my Daughter came with me as lve had a phobia all my life , infact l cancelled the first one as it was a much more state of the ark and narrow . I’d even saved up to have a private open one very exspensive . For those people who are very anxious and clostaphobia please don’t worry l stayed calm closed my eyes lve faced my fear , won’t ever worry again as ld had months of dreading.

Over the last 3 weeks I've been to 3 different Large bore MRI offices and they all lied to me . sadly they are just a standard unit . I'm a big guy with broad shoulders and when you have to fold yourself in half and can't have you arms touch the walls of Machine or your body it makes is really tough if not impossible to do . in the past I've had open MRI and it was great but my surgeon was happy with the Images. and now I'm finding hard to find another office with a open MRI .

Can you please video the cold head since you’re in the MRI room?

I've had so many MRIs! I actually enjoy my MRIs. I love the sound! I'm chronically ventilator dependent, so I have to have an MRI compatible ventilator when I have my MRIs. Every MRi that I have, I have a procedure of testing the Emergency button right before I go into the MRI machine. I also have the Technologist state to me the MRI sequence that is being used. So every new sequence he or she states the name of the sequence. I've had these routines all my life!

Thanks, I'll test the emerg button next time. Also tissue heating is a thing. I learned that Wednesday but it didn't happen to me. Hope it happens never to anyone.

That's pretty much useless from my claustrophobic perspective. The whole problem is the feeling of being restricted/contained/immobilized...and then you're going to cover my eyes with a towel? Seriously? And you're going to restrict the movement of my head or shoulder with a device? Seriously? The bore could 20 feet in diameter and it's not going to help me one bit.

This one doesn't seem to be that much different in size from a regular MRI machine.

Open mri of shoulder is closed like two parts of a bun and very little open. This shoulder mri is better than the one I endured. Covering face is odd. I had open mri of brain thrice: one was completely open except I think I wore a helmet??? not sure but I was lying face up on a bed. The 2nd and 3rd open brain was at stand up mri and I sat in enclosure. The knee and foot open mri was wide open. Nothing restricting just lying down face up.

I cannot have one easily I am petrified of going in with something on my head. I have anxiety problems being in that machine. And many times I get up and walk out. I need help.

@@madelainemadelaine2934 I panicked bad in an open MRI. The head brace constricts your field of vision and the roof of the MRI, only inches from my face, was the only thing I could see, felt like I was in a box, despite most of my body being free.

I've failed one already but it was smaller and narrow. Im going to attempt the wide bore on Wednesday. Im freaking out again about it 😫 they are just suffocating

I've failed twice at the normal ones and have an open mri scheduled for tomorrow. Watching these videos and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do it. It's frustrating because I've never had an issue with stuff like this...had an mri years ago and did just fine. That mask is the worst part! How did you wind up doing with the wide bore one?

What happens if you fail? Do you still have to pay?

    • @colt5189

How did your MRI go? You really should look for a Toshiba/Canon MRI with a wide bore. They are quieter than a regular MRI and more comfortable if you get a wide bore version. Which I believe most are wide bore.

I am extremely claustrophobic. When I went in for MRI, I told Radiologist to PLEASE PUT ME IN WIDE BORE MACHINE. They originally had me scheduled for the smaller/narrow one that was closed on one end... They were able to accommodate and I did totally fine. Both ends of the machine were open. My head was right at the opening at the end. If I looked up I could see outside the machine. That helped tremendously.

Hi Daniel - We will install a new open MRI technology at the Rayus Radiology Mayfair location in Milwaukee, Wis. in mid-November to accommodate people who may have trouble with our current MRI technology. While we are not yet scheduling patients, please call us after Nov. 15, 2022 at 414-774-7226 to schedule on this system. Thank you for your inquiry.

I lost hearing in the first MRI I had. Tried again today--it was horrible and even with headphones I was not able to be confident that hearing loss might not happen so I left.
