Turns out the Octostriker was an Octarian of an insanely high rank, among the Octarians. That's why they made it speacially large, and gave it fearsome powerful equipment (and a saucer). In Splatoon 2, there's only one high rank Octobomber, which gets the dodge-pipes that other high rank Octarians get. In real life, most Octopus species use the red colour to express anger, and the colour black to threaten other specimens. By this code, Octarians of a lower rank show up in red. As the ranks get higher, they get darker, until becoming a realistically brownish dark, thus becoming the best of the best. Octolings are ranked the same way.

@@jjQlLlLq i didn’t take Big man into consideration because he launches them only in his third phase, one at a time and they are rare attcks, even in playtrough of splatubers going trough the boss fight, very few have Big man launch more than one of them, if any at all.

Since the day Splatoon 2 realized hero mode, I was kinda disappointed, because this track, along with octostrinker disappeared. Those levels were pretty damn fun. This soundtrack is my favorite from Splatoon 1’s hero mode. Wish it came back with octostrinkers as a few bonus levels
