I currently read one chapter a night, of "A Child's History of the World, to my son, before bed. I went in thinking he was a bit young for such a grand historical perspective. It has offered much enjoyment for both of us. The legend of Cadmus - for example - has stuck with him, and enriched his interest in the introductory stages of reading and writing.
