    U don't appreciate the impact of design table
    We have our entire manufacturing foolproof automated using this : 1. Engineer puts intended design dimensions into excel sheet, 2. Excel is linked to Company's inventory & is programmed using if else statement to choose closest part from inventory & 3. update inventory too. 4. That excel file is automatically read by design table and model is updated. 5. Engineer just presses drawings and updated manufacturing drgs incorporating design change go to production.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I know that it exist other parameters that are not listed in solidworks help documents and I m looking for exclude a part from the bom. Do you have any ideas on what would be the parameter for this?
    Thanks again!

    11:19 "if that's not how you prefer to use the environment ..." part is here
    Context: Excel within Solidworks
    11:39 "The spreadsheet still exists inside solidworks model, it's just being opened up in a separate excel instance"

    17:54 Configuration friendly model Requires "robust design intent" ,
    that is, plan for how it should behave when something changes

    Can I create a table for different diameters, but using some Excel formula to automate the choice of length, or do I have to put an infinite number of length lines for each diameter?
    Ex.:
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN200, L= [250,500,700...]
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN250, L= [250,500,700...]
    or
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN200, L=250
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN200, L=500
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN200, L=700
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN250, L=250
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN250, L=500
    -Cast Iron Flanged DN250, L=700

    Please , how to increase numbers for example every numbers on cell +2
    for example menu dishes restaurant prices , automatically increase the price 2 dollars
    some one know??

    Hii, I have a question. Can you use design tables across multiple models? Maybe creating a design table for each part and pasting them in the same excel document. Does anyone know if that is possible?

    • @jordankleinschmidt2984
      @jordankleinschmidt2984 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if it's across multiple models, you can use Insert>Excel Design Table and choose "Source: From file", and can browse to the other design tables you've used in other models. Is that what you mean? Yes, you'd also be able to Copy/Paste the data, but I think the former method is easier.

      @@jordankleinschmidt2984 Yes I'll try that out, thank you!

    Why did they change design table to excel? It was easyer and more userfriendly before.

    • @yash1152
      @yash1152 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, i can agree with that

    • @jordankleinschmidt2984
      @jordankleinschmidt2984 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not changed, merely an alternate option. Excel formulas allow much more versatility. If you want a simple table, right-click any feature on the feature tree and click "Configure Feature".

      @@jordankleinschmidt2984 what are you talking aaboout???
      Earlier, the table opened in excel as well, but in a separate window. Now it opens in this messy forcefully embedded like excel.
