I learned today that the DHC-2 is in MSFS2020. My favorite aircraft of all time. I guess this gives me a reason to buy into MSFS now. Thank you for the video.
So pleased to have the Beaver back in msfs - was my favourite plane to fly in previous versions, this one does not disappoint, it sets new standards - well done to Blackbird/Milviz :)
We took a fly in fishing trip in Alaska. First time in the Beaver, it was great. My father-in-law got a chance to take controls from a very great pilot she ask if he had ever flown a DHC before he said no but he flew a B 26 in WW 2 so she gave him the Yoke and you could see the twinkle in his eyes as we did Alaska at 500 ft. I’ll always remember the Beaver and my father in lawq😢👍👍

Great video as always! I love your combination of enthusiasm, balance and dry humour. And we've finally got a Beaver! I didn't even realise that this was included in the update. After installing it I was scrolling through the planes and was like "OMG! No way!". And it's the Milviz one too!
I LOVED this aircraft in p3dv4, i didn't expect them to release it for free in MSFS, what a wonderful suprise!
Fell in love with this plane when seeing one do a water take off in Alaska. Started using it yesterday morning for a quick check out. 12 hours later and a sunday "wasted" the Beaver is my new primary aircraft. Like it's big brother the Otter a true go anywhere.
Same, its now my go to joy... I can't wait for an otter with more simulation from Milviz, ima just die if we get that :D
Once again top-notch review. And the plane you love/we love. It’s amazing that Millvis released this to everybody under the sun. One question -on the Xbox I did not get the ability to put the canoe on my floats Once again a second class citizen here! I looked and it doesn’t seem to be any way to add the canoe with the Xbox releases. The DC3 sounds incredible, I turn up the sound on the Bose system for the hell cat, the Waco, the Stearman, the Staggerwing, and now the DC3 and the beaver. The sounds in those aircraft are so totally immersive. I’m like a little kid at Christmas!!!!!

On the topic of the 40th, it was an emotional day for me upon release. My grandfather, who served in the Navy introduced me to Flight Sim.
The 40th Anniversary Update and Veteran's Day in the United States were on the same day.
I spent the whole day just thinking about how much he'd be blown away by what we have now versus what he showed me back then. He passed away on Mother's Day of 2012 at the age of 94.
Everytime I fly, I think of him.
I'm very sorry for your loss Tom, I'm certain he would have been as excited as us... aviation nuts are universal :)

As a kid growing up in Northern Ontario and even the N.W.T. I somehow only ever saw Beavers on floats/anphibs. To the point where when I finally saw one on wheels, I had to ask my dad what it was. 'That's a Beaver' he said, to which I responded 'but it's got no floats!' the idea that floats were removable never dawned on me before. Beavers on wheels and even skis still look weird to me to this day. Beavers without floats just always seemed wrong to me.
The beaver looks fantastic! I just wish Asobo would pay more attention to the water physics. It just doesn't come anywhere near flying a floatplane.

If you don't like the DHC-2, you don't like aeroplanes, and we can never be friends ;o) . Along with the A310, and DC-3 ( subject to community improvements) the Beaver is one of the stars of SU11.

I’m really liking the Beaver, iirc it was the first plane I flew in a simulator in Flight Unlimited 2. Loved taking it around the SF Bay Area, so it was super nostalgic doing that again.
I'm not usually that into taildraggers and radial engines, but this and the DC-3 have really impressed me! I love the Art Deco cockpit that looks like a refrigerator or jukebox from back in the day.
Taildragger physics are terrible in msfs2020, far from realistic.
Yes! I am with you on this one. The Beaver has surpassed my expectations. Straight to the top of my 'faves' (along with the Dakota). This baby will be perfect for stooging around the my local Danish islands! As always, thanks again for your wonderful insights xxx
I have the big radials Goose, you are right ,if you haven't got it then fair enough the ms one was free,however the sound and modelling on the br is so much better.

Have not tried the float version yet! Cannot believe how great this and the DC-3 are! Makes our purchase of the sim add up to extremely good value! Being able to anchor the float version will be fantastic! I'm sure there are a plethora of painters making new shiny (and some rusty) coats for this as we speak!

That float version is quite important as it is the most common variant still in use. And it sits upright. Very tall for a plane, and certainly not a tail dragger anymore. Also retractable gear and useful rudder. It comes alive on floats.

Great video. The Beaver and DC3 are fantastic planes and for free is unreal. They are my 2 favorite it. I get what you mean about the trim on the DC3, found that out after 2 very very short flights.😂😂
I knew you would like this one as this is the plane you are looking for , i love the excitement in your voice to ......well it is nearly Christamas . Shame about the taco bell Server , high , Intensity , Trouble . I hope that sorts it's self out as that would be nice . I already love the Beaver. Finally something for the north american backcountry to haul some moose into town or some stuff out of town. This, the DC-3 and the A310 are the absolute winners of this update! At least yet as I didn't check the gliders and helos yet :D

Like Av, a big and pleasant surprise on the quality of the Beaver and DC3. More so for us Xbox fliers. And great video watching and hearing AvAngel doing her stuff
Yeah, XBOX had no MilViz designed planes before the Beaver.
Hopefully a few more will come over to the darkside
The Beaver was the first of the anniversary aircrafts that I testet and I was like: "Oh boy this is perfect! I wonder what the others will be like?" Then I got in the Goose and was like "Meh! :[ " and got after a few minutes back to the Beaver. Absolutely awesome!

If blackbird/milviz did a addon to convert this to a similar thing to there 310 with wear and tear damage etc I would rip there arm off for that. Great plane, love the float plane with the canoe strapped to it.
They won't and can't... not with how Asobo has the deal for the free included aircraft set up... but honestly that barely detracts.

The only downside is that there’s no PMS GTN integration, but I’m sure someone is already working on a mod 😊

A great ! great ! plane I discovered it today and I love it
just an FYI, on a real beaver when you start it, you hit the ignition, the prop will get about one or two full turns, then you flip the magnetos. You never go mags first then ignition. Just a real life procedure.

So good! l love this update and the complete dedication to quality...I mean a few bugs aside, they really didn't try to cut any corners. It's funny you mentioned the DC3 though, I've been having a terrible time with it...doing backflips on take-off. Anyway, loved this vid and the joy you had with the DHC-3!
Yes, I'm not overly impressed with the DC-3. I flew both the freeware and the Vskylabs in XP11 and they behaved fairly similar to each other. With the MSFS one, it's really hard to get the tail up on take-off roll, so it just launches itself into the sky going too slowly and stalls.
She does like to lift in that tail down position sometimes depending on payload
@@jasonwebb71 It's flight model does feel kind of wierd, and the cockpit interactions are all kinds of messed up, but I hope they'll update it soon. As a big DC-3 fan, I really wish for better. And as of flying it, when loaded, give it a LOT of nose down trim, and on takeoff and landing, remember Dan Gryder's words: "Fly that tail!".

DHC-2 is beautiful. Surprising considering MS's track record. Love me a nice beaver, but it needs a STOL mod (bush tires).
Definitely a new favourite for me, I've flown this thing a lot in not much time since the update dropped. Getting it into Macmell Fisheries is fun... although the wingspan makes it a little.... ah...... dicey
Lovely video! I had not even seen that the GNS530 from WT is already available for download. The Beaver is definitely my highlight in the 40th Anniversary Edition, together with the lovely Cabri G2 helicopter. Not too sure about the Bell 407 yet, probably need some more hours in that one before deciding if I like it or not.
Are you going to do one on the DC-3? I tried it last night for the first time and had a rough go of it. The first 3 or 4 times I took off, within seconds of leaving the ground it stalled, rolled, and crashed. When I finally did get it in the air I could never get it trimmed, it didn't seem to be talking to the wheel on the Bravo throttle.

Nice review! Did you locate the Anchor? Personally I'd like to see more water spray and dust effects when on Bush strip's? Oh and some exhaust smoke and flame from the Wasp junior!
The Got Friends action pack from flightsim.to adds spray adn dust and exhaust smoke :) and FAR far more! I recommend you check it out! (anchor is not visible it seems but 'practical' (stops you on water)
I'm really happy about the free aircraft and the Milviz beaver is THE plane I was waiting for in MSFS, but at the same time I'm a bit disappointed it didn't get the same treatment as the 310R, with state saving and everything else. I would have prefered to pay for it and have everything :-/

Have to agree with you, that was exactly my thought last night when cruising around in it. Of all the new aircraft in the 40th anniversary, this is my no.1 favorite. (Sadly the Aeroplane Heaven DC3 is my least favorite - poor sound, poor flight model and poor cockpit modelling, some instruments and controls look way out of proportion in VR. I deleted it promptly)
Its ok flightwise but needs improvement... (some things are user error, trim is default nose up, need to set it to 0 for takeoff) modelwise its a bit weak.
Don't tell me you can delete a default aircraft. Never knew that was possible. Please confirm and lemme know how.
@@peterbassey9668 I meant "uninstalled it". Same thing, it is not in my hangar anymore. Haven't played MSFS in a while, but if I recall it's as simple as ticking a box. You can do the same with any of the later scenery updates such as Japan or Scandinavia
My only complaint is a small one. Kenmore Air's Beavers are not amphibious. Would be nice to change the floats to ones with no wheels. Still, very small gripe. Awesome plane.

Looks like the bug with the many fuel stations might be on your install, or at least it's not universally present. I haven't had that problem on my DHC-2, it shows three fuel stations only. So far the Beaver is the only new plane I have tried and it is just awesome. Already flown some four or five hours in it.
hmm odd, not sure how I can get a bug and not anyone else :D
I've got the same issue where there are multiple extra fuel stations. I did a new install with 11.
@@AvAngel This is strange indeed. I'll check to confirm that it isn't my memory that's at fault here. Also thought it might have to be connected to the livery so I'll try a few of those. I'll report back :)
@@AvAngel Ok so now I checked again to make sure. None of my Beavers shows incorrect fuel stations. Each one shows precisely three and they are correctly labeled. I checked the default livery for the wheeled version and the liveries you used in the video for both wheeled and amphibious. I suspect there might be some collision with some other addon you have installed.
Where do you download this one at? I’m not seeing it in MSFS
40th anniversary update
Just a wonderful aircraft! Great review. I’m glad someone else feels the same way I do about the Jenny 😂. I also don’t feel the Goose is bad but definitely doesn’t hold up to the Big Radials Goose in several categories - no panel or flood lighting, really?
I don’t think the DC-3 or 407 are on the same level as the Beaver but well above the “default” aircraft standards that came before them.
Given that the Goose made a single daytime flight, maybe the real aircraft was never fitted out for night flight.

DC-3 is Potatoe but The Beaver is Absolute Fab perhaps as good as The Aerosoft version was way back when and a fab video as well .
The DC3 is a heavy beast, which is realistic, the Beaver is bang on their p3d payware one, and both kinda beat the aerosoft one of old... but i have fond memories of that too!

Planes will… big surface area and wind will blow you, you can deploy the anchor though

Sometimes for short landings you have to be firm… that and it’s my first couple of landings in her in this sim
You can key bind drone camera speed decrease and increase so that you can get slower camera movements. Just hold the key until it's slow enough for your liking. 🙂

I only wish it had come with Bush wheels. Really aggravating that it didn't.
Considering I was expecting only the amphib floats, wheels at all is a gift honestly.

My Beavers have a rattling noise in them that makes them almost unflyable.

There’s a new update just released that lets u walk or run about in 1st person view when u run the avatar pants & gasp’s for breath…
Just letting u know u will enjoy the camping out now.. plus ur inspections of each plane is far better when walking about u just assign a key for getting out & in of ur aircraft, & one for a flashlight..
U are always best not to show avatar because he or she are like Frankenstein walking like a plank of wood… just a stiff avatar but remember it’s still early stages… I hope u enjoy… :)

I think the aircraft in the FS 40 year edition feels....or some of them feels....c h e a p and absolutely too light. That big goose-thing. Whats that? Hardly any working buttons etc. This is one of the better ones (in this video).
Some of the classics like the Wright Flyer and the Jenny are totally 2004 portups, some way better. The goose is a bit meh... BR's is a billion times better. The Spruce Goose? not touched it yet.

The data is off due to wacko performance this weekend since update , hopefully fixed soon. Hence staying in the valley where I had cached scenery

Lovely, it;s going to be competing with the DC3 for some attention ! You do realise when you're talking about the sounds that you've got the sim almost muted so you're not competing with it and we can't really hear any of the things that you're talking about ?

What a great disappointment on the sounds. If You ever heard the Thranda Beaver in XP11, this will make You sad. Anyways, at least we have some sort of decent representation of the greatest bushplane in mfs. Hopefully somebody will make a sound mod on it. This weak noise just kills the fun for me.

That's not so true, it's not far off, water physics... yeah, but on wheels and skiis she's pretty good. At least as close as we've seen with others.
