As always great information mate I started collecting a year ago and I’ve done pretty much what’s been outlined in the video. Plus ripped a few BB with my son just for the fun factor and bonding experience which in my opinion has more value then all the investments combined.
Can’t go wrong with Sword & Shield, especially the later half of SW&SH. I’d even throw in 🇯🇵151 booster boxes and reverse holo masterballs into the mix, I think they’ve got great potential to do well. Great video Michael 🤙
Definitely chilling reign - silver tempest for booster boxes & the UPC's. Paldea is still a massively underrated set & it's ridiculous how cheap it is. I agree 100% on all points mate & I'm following a very similar path. The only thing I'm doing different is investing in the 'waifu' singles and if I can get them cheap, the graded 10's. They have a different appeal than the pokemon themselves.
The narrative is so different, which makes investing in sealed pokemon better. In MtG sure the prices go up, but as theres more players and less collectors, moving even under the market rate is much slower.
I just bought the legendary Trio Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres all Holos in PSA 9 graded from the Fossil Set. Spent about 260 Dollars. I am pretty sure that in the future if you have all three of them all with the same grad this can be worth so much more.
All good stuff again. What do you think of the sleeved booster packs. Low value to get going - are they worth it. I’ve got a few Evolving Skies packs - I believe they are preferred as more difficult to weigh or tamper with. I’m still not sure if weighing is a thing with SWSH or not.
I think it has to be from an absolute stand out set to make it worth it. Good entry point but yeah, I'd only do it with sets like evo skies or team up etc. The best sets from an era!
im going to go very heavy into 151 and I thnk im a bit late. But i dont think im too late. IMO nostalgia hits hard and we havent fully seen it yet. I have alot of friends with huge amounts of capital that are looking for places to park it. Real world asset collectibles and digital collectibles are the future. already collected OBF. that collection was pretty brutal. had to buy alot of singles bc its just not feasible for me to keep pulling packs.

Some good options, I'll add that the Charizard and Reshiram box featured is poorly made and always rips. Finding one that is perfect is difficult, if you order one online, expect it to be damaged in the post. Also you should look at Japanese sets and investability in the future. Dream League, Tag Team All Stars, Blue Sky Stream are all now going for 10x what they were selling for 3/4 years ago.
Im going hard on fusion strike and lost origin. Years from now no one will give a damn about the pull rates and see the amazing alt arts from fusion and TGs from lost origin +giratina and decide to pull the trigger on this set
Chilling Reign has been receiving a large amount of attention as of late and deservingly so. At approximately $300AUD+ per booster box, I believe they'll be about $400+ come end of 2024. Astral Radiance is a sleeper. I don't believe this set was heavily printed, as you mentioned in your video, like Lost Origin and Silver Tempest were, and it has a nice trainer gallery containing pokemon from the Chilling Reign set and underrated and gorgeous artworks as well. Keep your eyes peeled on Astral peoples. It's just a gut feeling that I have for this set. Just saiyan. Awesome video man.👍
Good advice. I think if i were starting in 2024 with 1k in Oz, i would get a chilling reign and brilliant stars booster. Thats around 630 aud gone. 1 fusion at 170 then a lost origin booster at 200. 1k invested. When do you see the gap in American and Australia prices get closer. Fusion up 40 percent in US and down 40 here lol?
I'm actually considering getting rid of all my PC exclusive ETB's except 151 and Evolving skies and dump that money into Booster boxes. I have 4 151 booster boxes, 2 chilling reign, 1 Obsidian Flames. Looking to get 2 Evolving Skies, 1 or 2 Team up, 2 Unified minds then going into fusion, LO, Paldea Evolved and Paradox Rift.
I got me 1 case of team up, 1 case of evolving skies, 2 and a half cases of cosmic eclipse, and 1 case of burning shadows, and 3 cases of 151 right now, I prob should get me a case of lost origin and/or silver tempest
@@pokeoz91 Thanks! I always enjoyed opening cosmic back in the day So while everyone was hyped on hidden fates I stocked up on cosmic, still such a fun set to open, I'll be keeping them for awhile
question i have in my head from time to time is take for example and easy one like ES BB's - they are selling for $700 according to collectr - the people who are paying $700 what percentage are buying to open vs buying to hold vs buying to hold but then crumble and open. Also another one that those buyers at $700 where are they planning on selling? $1500? $2000? Then the question is asked again, who is buying a ES at 2k and are they opening / investing / collecting?
That’s a great question. The follow up question to that is it more likely you complete that sale and double your money going from $700 to $1400. Or is it more likely to double your money buying a different Pokemon product at $100 +/- and completing a sale at $200. My theory is there are a lot more buyers willing to spend $200, then there are $1400
@@andyhale3467 it gets perplexing as in order to get $100 a box yours buying a S&V set and your window for getting a $100 SW&SH set is closing quite rapidly. same money buys you an XY Evo's or S&M Unified minds etc or any box around that $700 US. Could also argue that older sets have gone past their infancy and have made it out of the sub $300 glass ceiling where same vintage sets can get stuck ( Crimson invasion / s&m base etc) so you would have more confidence in your $700 buy than you would a case of Temporal forces or Astral. in summery, i would lean toward your single larger value box reaching the 2x cost price prior to new set. i'm not sure you would sell 6x boosters at increased market albeit at a lower value than 1x even more vintage in the future. Not trying to argue or antagonize - just 4 beers in and fk it send it!
Hey mate! What do u think about the 18 pack booster boxes from Fusion Strike? Are they also a good Investment or should i save up for the 36 pack booster boxes? Cheers
Great video. When you buy singles for investing/personal collection, what are your thoughts on graded vs. ungraded? Is buying raw with hope to grade mint/gem mint and get a bump in value a fools errand?
Buying raw will definitely feel like a fool’s errand unless you can find a good source for clean raw cards. Buying raw on eBay or any other online source is no good. If you have a local lgs or live where there are Pokemon trade nights or weekend card shows, anywhere where you can get your hands and eyes on the cards and do a proper pregrade. Then it might work out. Don’t be afraid to buy graded, be patient and work an auction , you can find deals there too
Great advice!! I have a semi-local LGS where I was able to buy an Umbreon V alt art for TGS market price that looked gem condition. Eventually graded it and it was! eBay raw has been so unreliable for me for the few times I’ve tried it. Seller pictures are often poor (and good luck seeing surface issues), and I even had a 100% positive feedback seller who pulled a switcheroo where they sent me a card with bad centering compared to the pictures.
Yeah, it can be a bit of a minefield. Buy graded if condition is important to you. If you just want a piece of the action with a card for the binder (which is what I do) then I wouldn't stress about it.
Please keep up the content PokeOz! Viewing from the states here and I really appreciate your channel and information as I get into a bit of investing myself! I think your perspectives are entertaining and I have been following a lot of your advice. Keep it up man
For a future video idea are you able to do a video on protecting your investment. I've just started to invest after being a collector and was thinking what is the best way to protect your investment from damage so it can keep its value.
Should start planning the Backflip as well. In the previous video titled, "How Much Will Pokemon Sword and Shield Booster Boxes be WORTH in 5 Years?", You made a comment to "backflip into water perhaps". Hopefully there can be a sealed product under you when the backflip occurs, so when you hit 1 million subscribers, we can say remember that time Oz backflipped over pokemon sealed product?
Hey dude. I really enjoy your content a lot. Love the straight forward type of talking about all those topics. One thing that really bothers me is the sound quality. I think it might be because of the room you are recording in. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand you clearly, as I am not a native speaker. All in all the mic seems to be alright, but somehow there is a lot of audio noise and sort of hall effect going on. Keep up the nice content! ❤
I watch most vids with captions on, and I'm a native speaker myself. I don't think it's his audio, but unless you've got a setup with sound proofing and a mic that costs like $300, it's never going to be really good IMHO.
Yeah I've tried a couple of wireless mics and they all provide similar audio quality. My collection room / filming room is just a spare room in the house and the door is always shut upon filming. I think inept is right, I'd have to get a proper $300+ Mic for the audio quality to improve. Thanks for doing your best tuning in legend. Could also be the Aussie accent haha
Thank you for youre Infos, love this Chanel ❤ One question: if i want to invest 2000€ to achieve double the profit in 1,5 years what would be the best Strategy?
