“You’re listening to Woody FM - All the hits from the 1890’s to the 1990’s, all the time!” I love it man! 😊 Might as well face it, you’re addicted to the hits!
Such a sweet sounds. Hydra - to me - was the winner of this year. Nothing in the price range was even close. It only needed a right reviewers. And it comes as no surprise that the man was Woody!
Woody is indeed an inspirational player, and based on sound alone, Hydra Deluxe takes some beating in terms of value. But, in my view the more premium sounding Super Gemini takes the bi-timbral crown. Just so much more immediate; able to cover a massive spectrum of sounds from lush warm pads to bright sounding FM-like stuff. Same with Super 6 for the mono-timbal version. To say nothing was even close just screams of confirmation bias.
@@WoodyPianoShack you just.. dunno, plays. And it's feels more natural than watching all them reviews where people are picture perfect technical and precise or on the other hand just twist the knobs and talk about LFOs and Oscillators.
you bring the best out of this synth, really really good playing i bought the explorer based on hearing hydrasynth on your videos as im limited on space, i cant stop checking the tracking to see when it will arrive haha
Loved the video Woody! I am even more convinced that Hydravision synths are going to become much sought after classic synths. I have been extremely good all year (haven't had much choice) Santa. Hint! Hint!
You made me feel much better about jumping into the world of hydrasynth! Ordered explorer last night on a bit of a wth moment. Everyone seems out of wavestate. This was not a synth I really wanted, but for the price, hard to pass up. I could see the explorer and the wavestate being best friends down the road for sure! 😂
Very nice playing Woody. About a year ago I was just about to order the original version of this and an advert popped up showing the Behringer UBX A and I changed my mind and ordered the UBX. I think I made a mistake.
hi, record the synth via usb audio interface into DAW running on PC, record video with phone or camera, sync up the audio with video in the video editor.
Somewhat off-topic crazy idea, but someone please tell me if I'm nuts. If I were to create a song in my daw and use my Hydra for all the parts, I'd have to grab the analog out from the Hydra for each track, introducing noise with each pass. Wouldn't a live datalink output (like S/PDIF) make sense for avoiding that noise in a multi-track setup? Or if the Hydra could record and save each track internally and then send a track.wav file through USB afterward, that would also avoid the D/A and then A/D noise. The wav file was my original idea when writing this comment, then I remembered datalink connections. Then again, if any parts of the Hydra's signal path are analog (filters?) then this wouldn't work. So why no datalink connections on digital synths yet?
@@WoodyPianoShack I guess I mean like my C001 isn't Illuminati RA, but StrangerPings (unless you're re-titling them after you tweak?). Anyway, thanks for your response and love your tunes!
It is a pleasure to listen, thank you very much for sharing. Sorry for lowering the level of the comments :-) but what is the name of the opening piece?
I don't know exactly what the architecture of synthesis is here, but to me it seems sounding similar to Prophet VS. Probably I couldn't distinguish them in a blind test.
The Deluxe is so posh with 73 keys and multi sounds and 16 voice polyphony... I'm really going to consider springing for it someday...but for now I'm still debating the Explorer or the original for the full size keys and aftertouch
I’d love to see you with the Roland System-8 and the Jupiter-X vs this. I still say the System-8 blows it away. If only it had a bigger key bed & poly aftertouch for its own engine.
I have both. The System 8 is an excellent synth, and the native System 8 engine is a favorite of mine. It's very good at producing Roland type sounds. But in terms of versatility, flexibility, playability, range of sounds, the Hydrasynth blows it out of the water. The System 8 doesn't even have a mod matrix. Not a fair fight.
Loving the Hydrasynth content! I've totally found my forever synth in the deluxe model. Another idea for video is what you thing of the analog mod for detuning all voices that came in the 2.0 update. Does it feel right, and how is this thing able to do oberheim and prophet sounds?
I'm getting mine (hopefully) delivered next week. I can't get more excited! I have been though so much gear the past 2 years specifically and hoping this beauty will stay for good.
great idea thank you, we think on similar lines, i had this crazy idea of recreating the prophet 5 factory presets, in which case that setting will come in useful.
i heard some Midnight in there...cheers mate
Finally the review from the one who makes music, not noise ❤

I totally dug that Mad World ambient experience. Really nice indeed. Thanks for sharing your ASM HS sessions.
Absolutely love Howard Jones! Nice reference Woody!
Love my Hydra, it can be pretty much anything you want it to be. Great demo!
hey there, thanks and enjoy yours!

@@X22GJPi should say "nothing in a price range". UDO is obviously better one but demand much deeper pockets. Corrected.

I also really enjoy your reactions as you find new and interesting things that the patches can do.
Glad you like it, and thx for the message!
Love how much you actually enjoy playing the sounds - it's infectuious!
1st Howard Jones track was called 'Natural'
yeah, that was it, well recognised!
you bring the best out of this synth, really really good playing

Always love your videos :)
thank you so much and big congrats!
Hi Woody. I have my deluxe since it came out. Its fantastic . I love this machine since I assembled It in my studio. So much fun this machine ;)
congrats on yours!

that would indeed be a super compact rig! congrats.
Whatever knob you twiddled at 8:43 widened up the stereo beautifully

Nice classic patch, too. Sounds like something lifted from a “Chvrches” album or one of the neo-retro songs on the “Nightride FM” TH-cam channel.
This sounds lovely! I'm so getting one once saved up... 🙂
Да, Hydrasynth - это не игругшка, очень серьёзный аппарат ! ❤
Waoo fantastic sounds i love it thank you for the video🙏👍😏
You make these patches sound so good...
thank you, means a lot
I need to learn Claire de Lune now! Love your work Woody

two completely different types of synths i would say. so just save up and get both ;)
8:45 love what you morphed the Motion Strings AR into. And you seem to be a true Howard Jones fan 13:45 15:10
too right i am! many of our viewers too :)
I just closed my eyes for the entire video.
good strategy!
Great playing, great sounds, what more could you ask for!
couldn't say it better, thanks!
Thanks for the video woody!
What is the the song you play in the intro? I know it, but can't get myself to recall it's name!
I refuse to rewatch my vids... :) but someone said it was eric satie, which seems possible.
Hello! May i ask how you record the synth digital and record video at the same time? I would really appreciate any help
hi, record the synth via usb audio interface into DAW running on PC, record video with phone or camera, sync up the audio with video in the video editor.
Can’t beat a bit of Synth Satie 😊
if he had only had hydrasynth available to him, wow what he could have composed!
@@WoodyPianoShack same for Mozart I reckon, or Mozza as he would almost certainly be known up around these parts (Manchester) 😊
Hey Woody, thanks for the inspiring video!!! I like the Hydrasynth. Would you recommend it for a live-player? Cheers, Ralf
well all depends on what kind of live act, and whatever other gear you have!
2:03 I this from Harry Dwyer's "around the UK in a speedboat" TH-cam series, or just a coincidence? 😀
no coincidence! it's my remix of his tune that you hear on his vids! love harry's channel. i have a video on my channel about harry and the song.

many synths offer digital audio over usb to your PC/Daw, don't actually know if HS supports it tho.
Wondering why my 49-key Hydrasynth doesn't have the same settings. Is there a place where you update the pre-settings?
it does have all these single program sounds, but i tend to tweak them quite a bit

Satie Gymnopedie 1
I think I spelled that right? You'll find it...
strange that i went to that piece, but i may have done (don't want to watch myself again...)
I don't know exactly what the architecture of synthesis is here, but to me it seems sounding similar to Prophet VS. Probably I couldn't distinguish them in a blind test.
it can do them both, i guess.
Was that "YouTubular Bells"? ;)
it probably was, bit of a regular on the chann

i still have a desire for the hydrasynth 49, would be a good combo with the genos... the deluxe makes 2 large boards...
Again👍🏻🇧🇷
Somebody been drawing on your low F, Woody? 10:11 looks like somebody had scribbled with a pastel pencil.
oh really, i'm not gonna click, can't bear to watch my vids again after upload...
