    Just curious but would it be easier to attach the eye if you put the hook in the vise on the shank instead of how you have it here ?

    Could you please post the links to the materials used to tie this jig? Many folks have asked for this in the comments. Thank you!

    I did something similar, I took a 1/8 rooster tail and smashed off the weight with some pliers and wrapped olive thread around it instead and made it fly rod friendly.

    would i be able to use this fly on my 5wt 8ft fly rod?

    • @skeleton1765
      @skeleton1765 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It my be a little heavy for a fly rod. I would just use a spinning rod.

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. It was designed as a fly fishing fly. That’s a little heavy rod for some fish but don’t let that stop you. I would use a 5 or 6 weight with this

    Blakemore Roadrunner?

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is definitely a similarity other than the Roadrunner would be very difficult to cast on the fly rod and the materials will act a little different with the fly. But the way the blade hangs is very similar and I suspect they suspend in the water column much the same way.

    Terrific fly, but when i visit ur website, offthedeepedge.com , Norton warns me that it is a dangerous site. You need to fix that. No other details ard given.

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is why I don't use Norton anymore. I'm not sure what the problem is but my anti-"bad site" software lets me look at it just fine. I'm not sure what the solution is for you but Craig does have a nice site.

    Interesting spinning lure but is not a "fly" and would be not be allowed in fly fishing competition or on many rivers and lake in UK , Europe.

    • @FlyFishVideo
      @FlyFishVideo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Scouter Stu - warm water fly fishing as practiced in the Southern U.S. has always been different than traditional cold water fishing. The flies that developed were based on what the fish would take. Hence you got cork popping bugs, things with spinners, etc. This is still tying flies as tying techniques are used - the materials are just different. Fishing a spider soft hackle fly for bass would be just as inappropriate and ineffective as fishing for trout in Europe with this fly.

      Oy! You got a license for that fly?
