I think all the 40xx cards are great so long as you go for anything 4070 Ti and above. Not great value but great performance and efficiency and if you are looking to upgrade I would go 40xx series every time now

Upgrading to a GPU on the same tier but just with a singular generational increase is a bad idea. Example, if you had a 1080 in 2018, a 2080 would have been underwhelming. Waiting until the 3080 was what most people did.

I'll probably just use my 2070 till either my PC dies or games become so advanced I can't run 1080p 60fps because I mostly play indie games that usually don't require too much power. I'll probably buy a $1500 something PC with the most recent generation specs when that time comes tho

No. If you're gonna upgrade, upgrade your GPU with something a bit faster, it simply isn't worth it. Edit: There's no best value GPU, if you want that GPU because it has a superior feature set, then great. If you want that GPU cause it gives the best bang for the buck, go for it. Agreed; 4070 super would be great GPU, especially you want Ray Tracing enabled. I have a 3070 with Ray Tracing and it's about 60 FPS on 1440p.
