I have been playing Andrew York's masterpieces for nine years. From a guitarist's stand point, I believe Andrew York will be in the classical guitar history right by Fransisco Tarrega, Fernando Sor, Augustine Barrios Mangore, to name a few. Oh I can't for get Andres Segovia and Narsiso Yepes. The classical guitar music in the past is amazing and beautiful and I totally enjoyed the technical aspect of the guitar. However, it didn't clicked me. Continue on next comment...
I love Maestro York's music. I am struggling to learn some of his "easier" pieces. I am not doing too well at playing them I must admit. But I love listening to his music and this piece is beautifully played by Rovshan Mamedkuliev.
To be able to respect a musician, you need to understand the instrument well enought to actually give him a respect. I struggle playing his music and I don't even have the skill to put emotions on most of his music because it is difficult. And plus he composed it? That's something I cannot do. I will never be able to compose like him, but I will play his music and get inspired to create my own. That's how music evlolvs. Learn from the past for the future. He is important for many people.
This is some great work! However, while I understand the idea behind you're saying, I'm not sure I'd agree. I would, with relatively passionate desperation, rather listen to Sunburst or Along the Edge, rather than some uninspired trash by for instance, Lady Gaga who is most unfortunately an actual pop "artist". I'd say it's more like, York has done a lot to make classical guitar more accessible to a wider audience, as has the LAGQ, which I daresay is a good thing. No?
One of the greatest living composer
Great, Bravo Rovshan!
Fantastico ,thank you Rovshan and thank you Andrew York.
美しい音色!

Same. Amazing guitarist, if I can develop half the skill he has, I'd be an dope guitarist, just not really feeling the compositions.

Finally some great work by York. I had enough of his pop music.
I was wondering when the funky would start.
Man, I hear funk I'm thinking Gap Band, Earth, Wind, and Fire and shit. lol This is cool, but I really not hearing the funk.
This version has more interesting colours.
I totally agree. Except, I think this is still quite pop. Good pop, though.
around 4:45 there is some funky...
