AFL Fantasy is BACK for 2025, and I thought I would reveal my first draft of a team! I'm sure plenty will change ahead of the season, but this is what I am currently sitting with.

What's your thoughts on Body Uhwland?
There are just not a whole lot of premium defender options I love in terms of value. Defence will be the hardest line to pick I think. Uwland at $631k I’m not too interested, particularly with Rioli and Noble back there now who will take the majority of distribution.
love the sicily was talking abt him last and i think he will b freed up this season only thing i am not too keen on is rozee but everything else looks great
Yeah I think Sicily will be freed up. Hopefully the forward whispers don’t eventuate and he plays full time in defence. Pre season watch. Rozee I think is underpriced, but there are a few good mids I like under $1.1m that are in the mix for my M1 spot.

Isn’t Sicily playing forward this year?
He should be playing as the third tall in defence and more as the intercepter and general in defence like he was, especially in 2023. With Dear and Lewis injuries and uncertainty to start the year, there is a chance he plays there at times to start the year. Pre season watch for role

Do you know if there's been any talks so far if Tom Stewart will be back in defence this season or continue his outrage in the mid? Either way a potential starter in Defence?
That will be an interesting watch during the preseason and Opening Round, particularly with Bailey Smith likely to play a midfield role. Regardless of role, Stewart is value, it is just unfortunate that he has an early bye.
What is your opinion on starting daicos and trading him to green on his bye? I listened to the traders and the guy who won the car did something similar and traded green on his bye to another premo
I personally don’t love starting a premium that I also then plan to trade out. It was different last year as Green had easy games to start, whereas Daicos actually has a tougher start. GWS opening round (Bedford tag), Port Round 1 (likely tag), Bulldogs, then his bye, Carlton Round 4 (likely tag), Sydney Round 5 (likely tag)

Thoughts on Shaun Mannagh? For his L5 average is he underpriced?
Potentially. He looked good to end the year and could be one to watch during the preseason, but he has the early bye and the Round 3 bye with 4 teams. Unless he went massive in opening round, I’d prefer to watch for a couple of weeks.

Yep that’s definitely a flag to watch for. Preseason watch to see how it all goes, but if Sicily is playing forward, and the early bye, it would be enough to fade him to start the season.
Thoughts on George Hewett as a midfield option. Thought he finished last season strong.
I don’t think Hewett will be an option for us in Classic. Can bump him up your draft board if you play draft, but at $852k, I’m not sure there is enough value so not for me, but who knows.
Thoughts on Nathan O'Driscoll from freo, playing on a wing which has been great in the past from freo wings
Yeah I briefly mentioned him in the video. Being a mid only makes it really tough with all the good rookies in the mids and some better underpriced premiums/mid pricers so it is tough to fit him in. If he was a DEF/MID I and a few others would be all over it. Keep him on the list though and watch during preseason.
With Houston leaving, What’s your thoughts on Burton from Port?
Yeah Burton and Farrell are a couple of names to watch at Port Adelaide during the preseason.
Doc as a straight mid doesn't sit right. I've never had Oliver and never will. Hate the way he goes about things, such as when he dove to try to get the Eagle's def suspended. There's already been talk of Sic Dawg playing fwd more with the recruits they got this trade period. A lot of interesting differentials mate. Will be a good season.
That’s fair. Doch is there at the moment more so as a placeholder, and a watch in preseason. I also like Will Day around that price too. Oliver I see bouncing back this season. He has something to prove, and even if he averages 95-100, he’s could be 20+ points underpriced, but gotta watch in preseason. Sicily is an interesting one. I have also heard the forward whispers. Another to watch in preseason, and he also has an early bye which doesn’t help.
Yeah they are all good points, who would you start out of bont green or walsh? Both walsh and bont have good fixtures to start. But green is underpriced by 5 or more points
Yeah all 3 are great options. Bont looking great in preseason so far. 10 points unders based on the previous year and could go 110+ again. Walsh first full preseason hopefully in a couple of years and could go 110+. Green is the most value and could also average 110+ but has an early bye. Will be interesting to discuss this type of question throughout the preseason. If I had to pick one right now, it would be Green purely because of value, but that early bye makes it interesting.
@aflfantasyfanatics Yeah, another interesting discussion in the pre season is if it's more valuable to have 0 rookies in defence and start sinclair, mckercher, mills, short, Coleman, and Perryman. And have a midfield full of mid priced/value players. Etc. Oliver, ashcroft, day, cummings and docherty.

Thoughts on Serong this year?
I was too scarred last year from Serong burning me after getting a 140 against Richmond the week I traded him in. I think he averaged mid 90’s from that point. I prefer Brayshaw as the Freo premium mid I would pick.
@ I think he will be better for fantasy this year because of Bolton hopefully playing more time up forward cause him to have a longer rotation in the midfield. Not convinced with Brayshaw I go for freo and I reckon he will cop a rotation on the wing a little more than Serong.

I haven’t looked into it too much yet to be honest. I’m sure we will discuss that at some point during the preseason 👍

Don’t mind TDK. He’s the pick of the underpriced rucks. Going to be a watch during preseason for me. I am slightly concerned with Pittonet always being a potential in week to week.

No
Someone I am keeping an eye on. He’s cheap, and if he was solo and Bailey Williams wasn’t in the team he would be a consideration. I see it being a two ruck setup at West Coast with Williams playing more as a forward

You can only pick two Lombard Langford laylor
Tough to say so far out from the season. Langford would be my no.1 of those three at the moment. Lalor it depends on who his preseason goes as he is being eased in after injury. Lombard I don’t know what his role will be just yet so he is a preseason watch, along with all the other rookies.
What about Finn OS?
Yep Finn O’Sullivan is one to watch at North Melbourne during the preseason. I’m unsure what role he will play, and that will likely dictate whether he is worth starting or not.

Yeah I think that could be the case. He is there as a placeholder while I think he could be underpriced. I like Will Day around his price, and Petracca who’s a little bit more expensive. Plenty of options to look at during the preseason.

I didn’t start Zorko last year and got on him a bit later than I would have liked unfortunately

I’ll do a video closer to the season of the must have rookies. Sam Lalor is being eased in coming back from injury so he’s a wait and see during the preseason. Finn O’Sullivan I’m just unsure on what role he will play, but another to watch during preseason.
