I bought a non runner and had same dilemma getting off trailer, ended up getting a 4x4 and put tow strap onto one of the rear D rings and just slowly pulled it off trailer while trailer was still connected to the other truck. That way you don’t damage your trailer or the integrity of your hangar 😬
hahah your Dads initial observation was spot on! haha Rode in em in the army in the 90s .. rides like hell and no room inside..just a 4 foot wide center console. Everyone has their favorites. Good luck to who bought it!
Your Humvee looks like it's in good shape. The area where you buy it from makes a difference. Army Humvees are well used, while an Air Force Humvee probably lived a good life.
Just got mine running, do the fluids / fuel pump / and injector pump if it needs it and she will run amazing. I’ve been very suprised at how reliable mine has been.
Thinking about getting one. Drove one in Iraq for 14 months most the time. Drove a little tracked troop carrier with sandbags stacked around my head on and off too. Nostalgia for me.
Drove them in 1987-1991 USMC from Philippines, Alaska Alution Islands , Saudi Arabia ,Kuwait,Iraq Gulf War they will go through almost anything. Had one up to the roof in the ocean in Alaska. Plus many other countries I had them in. Popped a flat in the desert but it got me back.
What’s the upkeep like on these? I feel like the initial repairs were hell if they have been sitting laid up and mothballed in a field for who knows how long
I've been looking on Gov Planet at Humvees for a while. I have a close friend who was a mechanic in the Army and he's told me a lot about what to look for and avoid. If you are really lucky and find one with the big diesel and hard top there's a chance you got one of the special ones. He said that it was common for a really nice one to be used as the personal ride for high up base officers. When I say has a "big diesel" is that the way they list them is with what engine/transmission it had because most have engines removed unless the life time on the Humvee comes up around the same time as the engine. Then they'll leave it in. Then it's just how nice of shape you want to pay for. Nice is more $s like anything else.
This was our buddy Casey, who bought this one and it only 76 miles on it because some asshat put regular gas in it. Casey paid for it and we helped him pic it up and fix it. Luckily it was pretty basic stuff that was ruined. From what I understand, it has the big diesel in it. He paid north of 12gs for it so🤷🏽♂️
@@hummerguy probably just power washed 😁 My speedometer was broken when I picked mine up from Red Rock Depot. Replaced it and now I have a low mileage HMMWV. 🤣
@@HHWheels there loops holes to get it registered to operate in CA. I’d have to start an LLC and register it in Montana than I can drive it here in CA lol
"It looks like an aircraft I mean look at all these gauges"....So just like any vehicle made before 1992 when the big vehicle tech companies wanted to force you to go to the dealer by removing your ability to look at a gauge and hear a sound and know exactly what was wrong or about to go wrong?
@@HHWheels I am sure, I remember when I was four the sound of my grandpa's tractor engine and the oil pressure gauge made me tell him "pop pop your tractor is sick. I think its onion ring is hurt" (piston ring, I think I was having trouble with piston at the time and he had said something about a pinion). But yeah it was a piston ring, 2 actually, the tractor was 50 years old by then. A 1940 Ford, model 8n is what I think it was based off pictures.
I clicked to see it getting loaded. I know inner fender width. The lot guy loads for a reason. He knows what will happen. Let customers crunch flimsy fenders at home. I wasn't expecting a pallet fork load. But please show us the at home fail? Thanks.
That humvee definitely has more than 73 miles on it, heater and cooler has probably been ratfucked from it. Engine problems, leaking oil, coolant. Or maybe you have SGMs baby.
I like humvee from my childhood. I know what the saying of arnold from i read the story of humvee. But to buy a humvee for me, its so difficult. No money and iam the wrong place

Legendary always!! One of my friends and car club members has a Humvee and a few other military vehicles! Great video Caroline, James and Chris!! 🤘🙌❤😊
That’s awesome! The military vehicles are quite a lot of work to get & get into. But damn they are cool!

How much did you pay for that $500.00 truck?
I like the flags on yours 🇺🇸
no 499.00
Do they really go that cheap?

Any info on the parts yard y’all stopped at and got the diffs
I will try and find out where we were exactly and dm you with that info.
Great Video! Can you share the location/name of guy you got the differentials from?
This is how you start down the path of becoming a grumpy old MVPA member with a sherman tank or two. 😂
Comment of the video 🤘🤘🤘😂😂😂
I was so excited for the first few seconds, thinking the Cutest Wrencher just got a HMMWV, only to have my heart crushed.
Only to have it reignited moment later when she said “i want one”.
Best string of comments 😂❤️❤️❤️
I do definitely want one!!

Hey there, great video....do you have contact information for that military vehicle wrecking yard? Thanks.
Never trust the mileage on a MV. The speedometer has low miles, not the truck.
Good to know!! Thank you’
Yep, but the inside of this truck does look fairly new tho
Also, speaking of which, my speedo doesn't even works lol

They can get them registered and insured ? CA restricts them as OHV . Which sucks
