There are bands you find from skate videos/movies/video games/whatever and there are bands you find on your own. There's nothing better than hearing a song from a band you already really like in something you can enjoy just as much.
Everybody wants to hate on Rob for making it, you can argue any pro at any given time is better than someone else but the bottom line is Dyrdek made it good for him!!!
wow, a young, scrawny rob dyrdek in extremely 90s getups complete with the dorky clunky skate shoes and the white crew socks to match...doing crazy tricks on an old school board, the way only a talented kid thats still too young to have his tricks refined could, skating to a Dinosaur Jr song. what an era.
Listen.....Rob Dyrdek was WWWWWAAAAAYYYY ahead of his time in the prime and progressive peak of making street skating what it is. Stayed loyal from G&S through Alien, saved Alien financially, did a TV Show....the dues and pioneering this dude payed are way off the chart. Aliens MO was allways low radar aside from parts so it may seem like that if you didn't see his whole career but sell out is not the term to use for ROB. G&S O G and he did it his way? Respect Due.
I love how there is people on here say Rob is a "sell out". I ask why? Because he is successful and used the sport he is good at to help launch his career as a business man? Then used his knowledge as a business man to create and star in successful TV shows? People love to hate on those who achieve success.
Ikr, lol. Dude became a a millionaire and people would rather he be a broke bum working fast food and making little to no money off of skateboarding for the sake of the sport or some sh**. Becoming a sellout isn't a bad thing, it literally just means you became successful. Something nearly everyone strives for.
such fantastic angles catching robs big airs and dinosaur junior just brings it in. learnt of this song from this video over decade ago and to this day one of my favourite songs and Guitar solos ever, and one of my fav skate vids
love this guy.. he helped move the skateboarding scene into the pop scene creating a lot of beautiful multi million dollar skateparks and also some nice sweet skate spots :p
This part is still respectable! That first massive Ollie into the street? I saw this dude shoot a ad for Alien in Houston in the early nineties on this sketch wooden PVC thing.....One of his first ads and he was amazing! Alien man! Once more, MUCH RESPECT DUE!
Colonel White, hills and dales, P&G banks, Front St warehouse. It doesn't get more DAYTON (except P&G)! Visitors center was my skatepark after school in 92-93! R.I.P. Marc Erikson
Yep. I know ALL those spots very well! Video never conveys how tight and kinda gnarly those Col. White benches are. And a rare Blender session at Visitor Center was the best thing in the world!!
his current attitude seems almost opposite to the style of mindfield. I mean, dinosaur jr is playing in the background. he must have gone through a big change during his life.
He has donated over 1 million dollars to the skate scene, I don't know any sellout that would support skating that much, not to mention how far he has moved skating everything he does is for skating because of his love for the sport.
I got a skateboard like last month a rob dydrick alien workshop geometry deck and it is super rare you can’t find them online the story about the guy that had it was 17 years ago he bought this skateboard and customized it for his cousin and then his cousin never got it because he was grounded and his cousins family said no he couldn’t have it because he was in trouble and then he had it in his garage for 17 years until I just now bought it from him on Facebook market place and I put my ricta cloud wheels on it and my green venture trucks and my barrings on it it all ready has grip tape.
with out rob dyrdek, skateboarding probably wouldnt be half as popular as it is.... also if u were pro and been in skating 20+ years and had a chance to make millions of dollars im damn shure u would take that oppertunity...
@rblackrabbit916 rob dyrdek didn't make skateboarding popular , that's a very naive thing to say ,to be honest , rob dyrdek didn't do that much amazing shit as a pro skater , he wasn't innovative , he didn't progress the sport all that much besides the street league thing . Your giving rob dyrdek to much credit for very little.
Jeremy Frate Frate I'm sure Ken Block has made millions from DC Shoes, but Rob was just sponsored by them. So you think a lot of people want to buy shoes because the name Dyrdek is on them? How many shoes does he need to sell to make 50 million dollars?
Hell yeah skateboarding and Dinosaur Jr.
There are bands you find from skate videos/movies/video games/whatever and there are bands you find on your own. There's nothing better than hearing a song from a band you already really like in something you can enjoy just as much.
this and marc johnsons part in best of 411 #4
Haven’t seen this video In 18 years... such a golden era to grow up with! Still so good!!!
Everybody wants to hate on Rob for making it, you can argue any pro at any given time is better than someone else but the bottom line is Dyrdek made it good for him!!!

Nothing wrong with furthering your career but hes still a bitch
Answered your own question
PURE JEALOUSY.... every skate wishes they could be as big .... they just ain't got it...
He also made skateboarding main stream and set up a league. And with out him skateboarding would not be an Olympic sport

Holy fuck I was at that skate demo! (0:35)...long ass time ago. Oh well still glad I kept in touch with him.
the editing is so on point, how the hell they managed to edit to the beat in 91, I will never know
I miss those old colonel white high school sessions. The local pros always filmed there in the early 90's.
This shit was ahead of its time
Colonel White, hills and dales, P&G banks, Front St warehouse. It doesn't get more DAYTON (except P&G)! Visitors center was my skatepark after school in 92-93! R.I.P. Marc Erikson

his current attitude seems almost opposite to the style of mindfield. I mean, dinosaur jr is playing in the background. he must have gone through a big change during his life.

He has donated over 1 million dollars to the skate scene, I don't know any sellout that would support skating that much, not to mention how far he has moved skating everything he does is for skating because of his love for the sport.

I think that was an Ollie Nose Manual 360 Shove-It out.
Damn, they should have posted the part at the end where he ollies that huge curb to curb gap.
Rob Dyrdek it a total sell but his alien worships epic at the time.
Derman Derman - only naive kids call successful people sell outs

Likes are at 330 lol zip code in ohio
Rob's a great skater, but he's not worth tens of millions of dollars.
Well he made his shoe company and his own brand so yeah invest and you'll also be rich
You're not providing context for that. He wouldn't be where he is without that stupid show on MTV.
Go look up his shoes bro he been had money. His own brand that he made millions. 😂😂😂
He worked with DC Shoes from 1995 until 2016. So yeah he was making bank before MTV.
Jeremy Frate Frate I'm sure Ken Block has made millions from DC Shoes, but Rob was just sponsored by them. So you think a lot of people want to buy shoes because the name Dyrdek is on them? How many shoes does he need to sell to make 50 million dollars?
How Is he even pro , I know ams who skate better and are nof as annoying
