Exploring Anza Borrego Desert State Park in a 2022 Mercedes Sprinter Van 12.31.22

- On my first day I ventured through Coyote Canyon up into Sheep Canyon. I spent both nights boondocking in Coyote Canyon. Here are the coordinates. Latitude: 33.3589488, Longitude: -116.4023041
On my second day I drove up Fonts Point Wash and into Short Wash and ending the the day venturing into Hills of the Moon.

Camped in Tapiado Wash, near the Mud caves on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Perfect weather!
Can’t wait to get out there again soon. Once this rain subsides, I think we’re going to be treated to an incredible wildflower bloom.
Hearing those washboard roads brings back memories immediately.

Always camped in Lyceum Wash and in all those times only saw one group, however, the kit fox were every night visitors. Enjoyed your video and miss the desert dearly but not San Diego.

@@terrain4x4adventures Understand, each year or more often that wash like the others change and sometimes dramatically. One year a two wheel vehicle can make it another time four wheel vehicles must go slow. Go to the back get out do a hike through a squeeze through the rocks. Mud hills are off limits. In all the years camping never saw a snake.

Thank you! Happy New Year to you too. It’s so cute when we are packing and getting ready to head out. Bella seems know what’s in store and starts pacing around the house. Once outside and i open the van door her tail begins to wag steadily telling me she’s excited to go on another adventure.

Yeah it’s kind of a bummer because that challenging climb kept the crowds down in Sheep Canyon. We’ll have to see how things change.

The Pumpkin 🎃 Patch in Anza Borrego is my Fav place # 2 is the Calcite m8nes. Check those out. I've been out there 20 or so times an I have only seen a tiny little fraction

Wow does that van have 4WD? How did it make it across boulder alley and third crossing?? **just noticed how nice and smooth Boulder alley is in your video. They did an amazing job grading it!! Haven't been out there in a few months. Wonder what made them finally grade that section...very nice!
Yes. It’s a Jayco Terrain. Piece of cake going through all three water crossings. Is boulder alley the rocky climb on the way to sheep canyon,? If so, sadly it is no more. They’ve come in and graded it over with dirt. You can see that section at the 3:40 point in the video.😮
@@terrain4x4adventures wow nice! yes Boulder alley is very rocky but they recently graded it you needed really high clearance but now that they've graded it probably should be much easier to get back there without high clearance..crossing coyote creek could be a challenge when it's flowing. It gets pretty deep....neat area though....have fun out there on your adventures. This time of year is so gorgeous in the deserts.
Quick reminder that dogs are allowed on park roads but not on trails or wilderness areas in ABDSP.

Stock suspension? Sprinter 4x4 needed? Looks like a lot of fun!
Our van is a 2022 Jayco Terrain that came with upgraded Koni suspension that performed surprisingly well. Yes I was in 4WD most all of the time due to deep sand in many areas. We had a great time and am counting the days until our next adventure.

heya, nice, so question, the way up to sheep canyon campground wasn't bad when you went? (after "3rd river crossing") I was up there around thanksgiving this year and it was a boulder field. wondering if that was maybe the beginning to road improvements. Hills of the moon is on my next trip list for sure. Have fun and nice video. thanks.
Thank you! The rocky road up into Sheep Canyon is no more. It’s been completely smoothed out but let’s keep that a secret. 😉. If the word gets out I’m afraid this tranquil place will get many more visitors. Thanks again for the compliment.

I’m from that area. Did you know they stopped construction for a bullet train due to an endangered mole or hamster ?

@@PACbelltech1 I certainly know that fundraising was an ongoing issue but I don’t doubt there were also a host of environmental concerns brought up as well.
I can’t remember if I read it somewhere or it was on the news. But that was my understanding

We decided not to go off road in the park so we dont spend all day rescuing sprinters:)
