I never can resist the unnecessarily (goodness that's hard to spell)... long reviews.. they are my favorites..!!! Will never miss them.. I have watched your really long "all of my watercolor palettes" video several times.. some of us prefer this over anything that mainstream media is trying to fill our minds with.. lol
I love an unnecessarily long review myself. For the price, I think you can’t even complain too much about the lightfastness of some of these colours. They would make great sketchbook paints, and then you still have a good number of lightfast colours. From what I’ve seen, I like these better than the Mijello pure pigment set because there’s a bit of granulation here. Thanks for the review and I’m glad you’re thrilled with them!
I still have my old college set of PWC Shin Hans. I used them for my watercolor course and I understand why my professor really pushed for us to use them since they're professional quality and really taught us how to use the medium. I take them out every once and a while, and I've made really good watercolor galaxy paintings. The ones I've hung in my bedroom haven't faded yet (since they're not in direct sunlight), but I can attest to how nice and rich the colors are even two years later! I'm glad you enjoyed them Lindsay!
Such a great review! I LOVE these longer review videos! Side note: as far as I know, in regards to the years of pigment research Ive fawned over-PO13, PG8, PR83, PB66, PY1 and PO16 should be avoided in professional paintings to be sold. My opinion is (not that anyone asked lol) I think this set is fun and I really love their version of PG8- I just think one should probably do lightfast testing on all the colors before selling artworks made with this set-since there is several discrepancies in their pigment and lightfast info. Anyway such a great video Lindsay, you make the best review videos- I absolutely love watching you swatch out all the colors and listen to you talk about each pigment! Thank you so much for sharing and much love ❤️
As a beginner, I really enjoy these videos. I love watching you swatch them out. I love hearing you talk about the paints, you are so knowledgeable. Your videos really relax me and I enjoy your enthusiasm. No worries about the length.
I loved every minute of this. It's such an inspiring example of how to think about concretely about paint and abstractly about color. Thank you for investing so much time here, Lindsay.
I love these long reviews. They're my absolute favorite well its between your longer watercolor tutorials. Thank you for these as I'm sure it takes ton of time between the video itself and editing etc. Hope you have a great day
Dear sweet Mrs. Lindsay, I love to watch you swatch new paints, because you know sooo much about pigments!! Also you get just as happy to see all the pretty colors as alot of us do too!!!😝Also would love to see your little tiny tin pallets too! Thank you for your review.
Yay; an exciting vid with swatching and pretty colors! I’m at the palette section as I write this and the uncommon pigments make me excited or wary depending on their lightfastness, so I’d probably buy a few open stock tubes rather than this set, but I’ve seen other painters have a color here and there very happily.
Excellent review Lindsay. The price is so reasonable for the quality. Thanks for taking the time to do all the research for us and for being so complete in your review and testing out the paints. Truly helpful in making a decision to purchase.
In Japan (and I think China as well), there is a custom to steam and sweeten peaches and they usually turn that pink hue. In addition, while most people in Japan would say “pinku” for pink, old Japanese would call it “momoiro” (momo being the name for the peach fruit, iro meaning color).
Played around with a few tubes of PWC I got open stock. They're really nice. It seems many Asian watercolors (Camlin and Shinhan) lift easily on wood pulp papers. I wouldn't recommend pairing them with non-cotton wc paper, unless you found one that really sucks in the paint. Many reviewers said they are more opaque, but I got transparent colors so there's no opacity issues. Most important to me, it layers really well! Shinhan has gentle flow, the more water you add to the paint the more it flows. Paper can also affect wet-on-wet techniques as well. Vibrant affordable high quality paints! I tried drying them in pans, it's been 2 weeks and it's still sticky, but I'm sure it depends your environment's humidity levels.
I love white nights green pg8, it is awesome for mixing, it is actually my favorite green. The Rosa is a little less vibrant and weaker in mass tone. I just got the sap and hookers to try out from Jackson's open stock.
So glad you did this review. I've ordered a few of these open stock from Blick and really liked them. Now that I can see what some of the other colors look like swatched out, I'll be ordering some additional colors. I like your in-depth reviews. I always learn something.
I have the SWC, same as these but the name for Korean buyers, had them years, remind me of Holbein, they have gotten really expensive, I think I paid half of what they are now, £107.00 now for 32 blimey 😵 they will last a long time though. Edit..... just looked and I paid £40.00 5 years ago.I'm grateful watercolours don't expire 😄
My brushes are beautiful! The packaging can't be beat! I hope to use them tomorrow. I have zero doubt that there will be any issues with them. Congratulations Lindsay!!!
Great review. And wow, I have a tube and pan of PG8 from White Nights. Haven't oulled them out in a while. Will have to go pull them out and check my memory, because the PWC swatch here is how i remembered them. ?!
That’s a great price! I just checked Amazon, 11AM AUG 29 2022. They’re back up to $99.90 . Prices go up and down and up and down. Still, that amount for 15 ml is pretty danged good!

Enjoyed watching! I’ve been wanting this set but also thought I didn’t want some of the colors. I may still buy a few open stock on Blicks! I do have mejellon set of 36 single pigments and love them.
You kept me company while I worked on a painting. I even pulled out my swatch book a couple of times to compare pigments with you. Thanks for the long review!
I really want that Brown Red color! So pretty! I also love those little palettes for the Altoids tins! I paused the video as soon as I saw them and ran to Etsy to find them! 😂 You should totally do an unboxing for them! They’re very nice and clever. Now I’m thinking about getting some for my myriad of tins! I have a few go-to palettes that I like taking when I have to leave home, which is basically all the time since I’m a pet-sitter/house-sitter. I’m always staying at other houses for my work, so it’s nice to be able to take a small set with me !
I obsessed about Altoids tins and making my own palettes when they got so popular on Pinterest a few years ago. Now I'm solidly into painting and have a huge collection of colors from lots of manufacturers. I like the 3D printed ones on Shawn's and will be looking for the blank to fit in the lid for mixing. Thanks a bunch, Lindsey.
Lindsay, watching the replay, that is 6x4…24 while the flatter one is 5x3…15… so both have a maximin capacity of 39 wells. I am waiting to see when you realize your Math faux pas… love watching you swatch! 🤣🥰🙏🏾👍🏾😃💜
I wish you had read off the tints set or show a swatch of those colors. I cant believe with your love of paint pallets that you can put them in a larger paint tin & arrange colors next to each other more to your liking. I have a few from DS & Holbien & enjoy them like in field of flowers kind of like using a hi light white, but in colors.
Well I have enough paint to last me a lifetime. I have that jelly gauche and holbein 60 watercolor tubes set..etc. I'm good. I love your real time tutorials. Thank you for the long review. I love long reviews.
For fun, color testing, using a large brush and large pans and spreading color everywhere and not always being afraid to waste those beautiful Daniel Smith or Schmincke, this is the perfect brand and I love them. I started my watercolor adventure with it and the results are bright and brilliant which is very satisfying. However, I would not recommend it for watercolor paintings for sale.
Thank you for this I really enjoy watching the swatching. I am so new to watercolor that all the choices can be overwhelming. I just realized I can pick my brand and make small paint pallets of several and not buy all the sets.
You had me at "Unnecessarily Long". LOL! I had nothing to do this afternoon so watched this all in one go. Very interesting! I love how in depth you go into your reviews. Pretty paints! Except that opera. Dullsville!
this was one of my favorite videos ,i did over pay for mine it was 119.00 a couple years ago on amazon ,i have the small tube sets also ,i have a table full of pallettes i made with them, mine are almost empty only because ive made so many pallettes out of them,im glad i watched till the end my opera is so vibrant i love it ,i was so happy when you shared opera granulated ,and yes it did also the pbk11 in sepia did now i have a use for sepia ,its awsome to have you here love gina
Hi Lindsay, very thorough vid.😊 FYI, mentioning that Kim Crick did a lightfast test on these...but I can't tell when -it's a blog page. Also I saw the 24 set on Amazon for about 74$- that's about .50 more per tube, but still not awful. Too bad for me, just dropped more than my monthly art allowance at Blick 🥴
I’ve been waiting for a review from you on these! As a hobbyist, I’d rather not spend a lot for colors that are normally heftier in price from other brands (shadow colors for example). I love the quality you get and the good array of non-fugitive shades. I do have some cadmiums from a set that I’ve been too anxious to use, because I don’t know if I’m disposing of them properly. I try to wipe most of the paint off on a paper towel before lightly dipping in water to wipe more off. I’ve also tried letting the pigments sink in my water (like with acrylics) before pouring out the rest, but I don’t know how effective that is. I have septic, so I worry about that + the environment. If anyone has recommendations I’m open to it!
I'll put it this way. Your pee after taking Tylenol or Advil is more toxic. You don't have to worry too much about dumping it is the sink. Its only a teeny amount with watercolor anyway.
I only have a few ShinHan colors-but I love them. There Shadow Green(PBk31) is out of this world. Granulation is incredible. Had to order some from Jackson's that Blick doesn't stock. Seriously thinking about replacing my mish mash of paints with the set you reviewed here.
@@thefrugalcrafter Just had my 74th birthday. I get overwhelmed easily. Might help to simplify. Having said that, just ordered one of Shawn's large palettes for my new Art of Soil paints. They really appealed to my aging hippie ethic.
Wow! You had a lot to say. It made me want to try these. I love the vivid colors actually. I wonder if you use a black light if there might be some fugitive dyes enhancing some of these odd differences in the colors. For me, I would use them in a sketch book if so. Either way I think they are a bargain.
Thank you so very, very much for the entire review of the these watercolors. I watched the entire video and found every aspect useful. I purchased the SWC set this spring, and managed to set up the palette /swatch the set until the" great 4th of July dishwasher flood". I believe I paid $81 for the SWC on Amazon. There are two colors that my SWC has/doesn't versus the PWC. I don't have Quinacridone Red and Pyroll Red. I have Permanent Red and Permanent Rose. Getting ready to use my brand new Lindsay brushes on a new painting with my SWC set! I absolutely love the weight and how they feel. I will leave my review on craftammo once I paint with them. 😊.
This was really useful thank you so much! Watched the whole thing while editing today and was so excited I zipped up to my local (that I didn't know had a location near me) and they just so happen to sell these what a shock lol. So happy not to have to go downtown and they have a large selection. Bought a few to swatch tonight wooo!
I have a tube of crimson lake from winsor and newton and ended up asking them what pigment was used. According to them theirs is also Pr83! Sadly no longer make that color but definitely a gorgeous color!
@@thefrugalcrafter their current pr83 and the permanent alizarin crimson are more red compared to the old crimson lake. But their permanent carmine is very similar!
The thing I notice with sets is it's all about the same colors so have so many duplicates. These are lovely though. I only use Holbein opera is what I have. @Lindsay Did you see the Zeesoon Gold Class Mission triple pans-pallets with paint.?
Yea, well... it is long, but I decided to stick around and see how surprised you were when you realized you miscounted the pans in your pallet. I can't wait for you to see that their six across, and you have room for all your paints. Cheers, and thanks for the great review.
I don't have any of the brush ones. I ordered 2 on clearence but they were bullet chisel. That said ohuhu used to use the same ink and i might have swatches on my blog.
Unnecessarily long?? What a weird title... I actually think it was too short 🤷♀️ It is so crazy satisfying to see you fill the palette with the gorgeous paint, and listen to you talk about pigment numbers and light fastness! I have several tubes of the Shinhan paint, and I love them. I have to order everything online, because I literally live right next door to the north pole, so not many art stores here. And amazon is not an option, because the shipping is twice the price of the item you want to buy. So it's a hunt on different online stores to find what I want... (AAALL the things that brings me joy 🥰) Thank you so much for the necessarily long video ❤️
Extremely helpful review Lindsay! I enjoy your videos and the way you present the info is always interesting. Have you seen Joly Poa on youtube? She uses Shinhan PWC for her gorgeous florals. Thanks so much for sharing.
QUESTION: Got the BRUSHES! Woohoo! Can't wait to play with them today. That cat's tounge looks awesome. Love the red and rose gold. Lindsay, should I use Master's on new brushes or just rinse them? Been wanting to try PWC. Love swatching videos from an experienced artist. Learning about and playing with your supplies makes people better artists.
That BR1 opera is Basic Red 1, it is a dye. What an interesting mix of lightfast and non-lightfast colors in this range. Some of their pigment info looks questionable, but if you’re just painting in a sketchbook, who cares? It’s nice to see another source for PBr25, I LOVE that color, Mission Gold puts it in their pan set and I use it for every thing. I’ll put a few of these in my Jackson’s wishlist. I think they have occasional sales on ShinHan. On another note, I just finished a full 9x 12 painting using the LW #8 round brush for about 60% of the painting. It was fantastic, it has taken top spot as my favorite round - holds and dispenses the pigment beautifully. And the rigger is PERFECT. Just right. I have soooo many riggers, none of them quite right. Haven’t put the rest to work in depth, although have done a couple of practice pages. The cat’s tongue is really nice, lays down color without dumping. Very happy!
@@annenglish2935 The Lindsay Weirich #8 round in her new brush set. The brushes are REALLY nice. I’ve bought a ridiculous number of brushes from cheap to expensive, these are well worth it.
Thanks a lot for the review. I always wondered about them, and they've been on sale for a while here in Canada, but they all look too samey to me texture-wise.
Your review of the derwent chromaflow has me really wanting to try them I am just annoyed with the cost of them especially since I already have prisma colors but really want to see how they feel compared to the prismas and I think there are some different types of colors between the two.
I'd wait for a price drop. They are more expensive than Coloursoft which is a higher quality pencil. They will drop eventually I think as they were created to be a prismacolor competitor.
I'm new to watercolors and have only been used to watercolor brush pens, but on prime Day I took the plunge and got the newer Meiling "pretty excellent" 48 set that has the additional shimmery pigments, and boy was I bummed when I swatched and played around with all the colors and they weren't "flowy" which I really wanted/need for the type of art I do. But that's good to know about Ox Gall? Hope I spelt that right. I'll definitely need to look into that product because I hate to waste these paints!!
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you for the info!! I love DIYing and arts and crafts hacks and such, so I think I'll definitely do my research on Ox Gall and how/what do with it with my MeiLiang set so I don't waste it 😔 I definitely should've done my research beforehand but man, those prime days had me lol. Thanks again! Much love 💞
You have fed the want monster. Watching this now for a second time because I have them in my cart for the right time. Along with way too many other things. 😂
I bought this setvavfew days ago.a few colors are different.also my Vermillion has only 1* where the chart says it has ***. They need to be more consistent.ibdont think superior sets should have 1* paints.i was dissapointed.haventbpainted with them yet except on pallet sheet and my tablet of colors swatches.hope I like them.payed just under 100 plus shipping.
Hi, Lindsay, Just a quick observation. Your ShinHan review of about five years ago clearly stated that the PWC line was NOT professional. I did get the set, and I can confirm - not professional, and not really beginner either because it is not a mixing set (no real burnt sienna, weird yellows, etc. Luckily I already had an SWC burnt sienna PBr7 and a ShinHan no-name PR101 + PO20). So I would say the PWC set was for someone more advanced than a beginner but who doesn't like to mix colors. Incredible that anyone wouldn't want to mix colors! Loved that it has absolutely no drying shift - but what do they put in it to get that attribute? Now apparently PWC = SWC. The "New" PWC still doesn't seem to be a mixing set - no nice clear greens or purples in your color wheels, but I guess, again, no need to mix. Matthew Anderson of Anderson Studio also did a review several years ago stating that PWC was clearly student grade and that he had given his set to his children and was using only SWC, which he gave very high marks. He has a more recent review in which he says PWC = SWC. What gives? My take on it is that ShinHan is deliberately trying to confuse us and we should have nothing to do with them.
Their professional range is not professional quality in my opinion, but the PWC and SWC lines are, they are the same paint, but SWC is marketed in Korea, and PWC is marketed in the USA and EUROPE If I said the PWC line was not professional, I misspoke because it is, and it is lovely:)
Hullo Lindsay, Nice review I believe I would stick with the Mijello Mission Gold paints over these if I wanted an eastern paint recipe. I think the Gansai Japanese paints are even more different? Is that the correct way to express this idea? As for Western paints I have mentioned my preference for DaVinci over more than any other brand! I still have several brands in my studio palette but DaVinci has all but overrun the paints selected there! I avoid Schmincke and Senneiler because the price point makes them "to precious" and I seldom use them. Now I realize this is your job and your paintings as more of a side effect of your TH-cam job. I still believe you could easily sell your paintings, have you looked into daily paint works? I have seen several people that I follow sell their finished paintings there for some added income. Marla Baggetta is the first to come to mind. She sells pastel paintings and they seem to do quite well and with minimal additional investment on her part. Just an idea,I hope your doing well and staying positive. Have a lovely day!
Help, Lindsay! I just bought a set of Shinhan SWC extra fine watercolors… 12 15ml tubes. They all have PW6….I knew they would be “pastels” and more like gouache. They are really pretty….I finally managed a little pansy painting…but, geez, it was a struggle…. Would you please review/demo them???? Pretty please??? Got them on Amazon… I’m having issues mixing them with the colors included. I really want to use them, though…Help? I need your expertise😄
I used them on the gerbil painting the other day. You can mix them into any standard transparent watercolor you have for deeper values. Its not a stand alone set as they are pastels but a nice addition. You might check out the tutorials I did with the Paul rubens gauci paints as they are similar.
@@thefrugalcrafter I must be losing y mind…I watched the gerbil video!! I’ll watch again and the other videos you mention, although I know I’ve watched them as well….oh…I hate getting old!!!!🤣 Thanks so much!!
I checked Amazon this morning and can not find the shinhan PWC. All I found was labeled SWC!! WHAT is the difference? SWC says " tint" in the product name. Does that mean anything? Thanks, 🙏🍀🌷
If memory serves me correctly, I believe that the PWC and SWC are the same paint; they are labeled according to the different markets in which they are to be sold.
@@maryannprzybycien2013 This is the fourth time I post this. It keeps disappearing! They make Artist grade and Student grade watercolour paints. The Artist grade is labelled PWC and SWC Extra Fine Watercolor and comes in 104 colours. Both labels are "Extra Fine", i.e. finely milled. The Student grade is labeled as Professional Watercolor and comes in 48 colours, and bears no mention of "extra fine" on the tube or packaging. SWC is for internal market and PWC for the rest of the World. ETA: Also, if you look at the set on Amazon, you will see that two of the tubes are Cobalt Blue and Cadmium Yellow Deep. The Student grade does not have paints containing cobalt or cadmium pigments.
Pwc and swc are the same paint. It is Shinhan's top if the line paint. Swc is the branding for Korea and pwc for the West. The tint sets are the pastel tones (a color plus white is a tint)
I’d like the set personally but I’d not trust these lightfastness ratings and do my own tests. I’d keep several as ‘not for sale’ as in ‘fugitive but fun’. I do 1 year window tests. I’m collecting pigments and I use neon colours in personal work. Also UV spray and UV protective glass exists as well.
Oh! I learned the mystery of why pink is called "peach" sometimes in Asian watercolor brands. They mean the color of the peach *blossom*, not the fruit!
“Scan with transparency app” just means scan with a UPC code scanner which is automatically built into most smart phone cameras now, i know IPhone has it. Scanning it should bring up more related information about the product for you just so you know
Loved this NOT totally unnecessarily long and in-depth unboxing and swatching video. 🥰🤩😍 I wish I had these paints now, of course! But unlike you I don't use watercolours professionally and don't even paint as much! One day I will, though!! 😅😅😅
How do they compare to Holbein to use? Vibrancy, movement? I have to limit watching the reviews so I can limit getting more palettes 😂 These look like beautiful paints 💜 Love your reviews, btw, keep them coming, I've learned so much!
The Asian companies love the PR83, don't they? Remember, you cannot trust the lightfastness companies list! Holbein for instance says their Alizarin colors are as lightfast as others they make, when that is obviously not true. Always do your own research on the pigment using Handprint and Art of Pigment Databse, and your common sense. Best to do one's own testing too of course.
I watch a youtube channel besides yours that has a couple who do things with resin etc and Evan and Katelyn have a Tee shirt that they sell that says WORDS ARE HARD!!
The naming needs work I see. Maybe they should make them with numbers or letters, instead of “Professional” student grade? Lol. Yeah, a bit long. But you’re a good talker, it’s not a chore to listen to you ramble about art supplies :D
Listen, the number of times I have dipped my brush in my coffee and tried to drink the dirty watercolour brushes…I have stopped now. ok I am safe with cadmium then

Lindsay, watching the replay, that is 6x4…24 while the flatter one is 5x3…15… so both have a maximin capacity of 39 wells. I am waiting to see when you realize your Math faux pas… love watching you swatch! 🤣🥰🙏🏾👍🏾😃💜
There is a reason I am in art, not math 😆
Always find your reviews fun and educational. Happy you found a great deal and love the product. TFS Lindsay.
I actually was very excited at 30:00 because I’ve been waiting for your review on these for years! 😅☺️🤓
I probably have a lifetime supply too!
Great review, I was entertained the entire time 😊 Glad you had a chance to buy & try!!
Fantastic video! Not too long for us watercolor geeks, lol. Perfect accompaniment for relaxing after work. Thanks, Lindsay. You are the best.
Pretty colours...that indigo is a stunner! I definitely want to try these paints out one day (even if some aren't exactly lightfast 🙈).
I think you will like it!
This was a great video. I was swatching my Phoenix Watercolors while I was watching.
Nice!
Dullsville!
😆
this was one of my favorite videos ,i did over pay for mine it was 119.00 a couple years ago on amazon ,i have the small tube sets also ,i have a table full of pallettes i made with them, mine are almost empty only because ive made so many pallettes out of them,im glad i watched till the end my opera is so vibrant i love it ,i was so happy when you shared opera granulated ,and yes it did also the pbk11 in sepia did now i have a use for sepia ,its awsome to have you here love gina
Thanks!
Pr83 is indeed alizarin crimson, you were initially correct
Hi there! I just got my Lyndsay Weirich paint brushes!!! They are gorgeous!
Yay!
Hi Lindsay, very thorough vid.😊
FYI, mentioning that Kim Crick did a lightfast test on these...but I can't tell when -it's a blog page.
Also I saw the 24 set on Amazon for about 74$- that's about .50 more per tube, but still not awful. Too bad for me, just dropped more than my monthly art allowance at Blick 🥴
The 24 set has a black and white so I prefer this set without those colors.
@@thefrugalcrafter yeah, fillers. Irritating.
This is great Lindsay! Have you heard abt using heavy spray starch in your clear/rinsing water to mix and increase more flow and granulation?
No I haven't. Interesting.
Moreover, cadmiums in watercolor are insoluble sulfides, they are quite inert.
If you’re scared, use kitty litter or look up how to discard paints like that with your waste distributor.
@@keepyourshoesathedoorbad news most kitty litter is carcinogenic too ❤️✨❤️✨❤️🌻🐝✨✨✨✨🌻
I only have a few ShinHan colors-but I love them. There Shadow Green(PBk31) is out of this world. Granulation is incredible. Had to order some from Jackson's that Blick doesn't stock. Seriously thinking about replacing my mish mash of paints with the set you reviewed here.
All brands work well together to you can add on rather than replace
@@thefrugalcrafter Just had my 74th birthday. I get overwhelmed easily. Might help to simplify. Having said that, just ordered one of Shawn's large palettes for my new Art of Soil paints. They really appealed to my aging hippie ethic.
Wow! You had a lot to say. It made me want to try these. I love the vivid colors actually. I wonder if you use a black light if there might be some fugitive dyes enhancing some of these odd differences in the colors. For me, I would use them in a sketch book if so. Either way I think they are a bargain.
Thanks for this! Watercolor review! Watercolor swatches! Watercolor, period! And long and relaxing! I loved it! And yes, let’s see those palettes!!!!!
Will do!
Thank you so very, very much for the entire review of the these watercolors. I watched the entire video and found every aspect useful. I purchased the SWC set this spring, and managed to set up the palette
/swatch the set until the" great 4th of July dishwasher flood". 😊.
Yay! Thank you!
Wow! Windsor and newton are so expensive where you are, I usually pay between £ 4 and £ 6 where I live!
Unnecessary is short for Undeniably necessary 😁😁 always enjoy your review, so fun to watch and learn a lot more about watercolor painting 🎨
Aww:)
I could watch your videos,no matter how long,👍❤️😊🖌️🎨
I do want to see an unboxing of the palette and mixing tray products.
Glad it helped!
Your girlmath is a beautiful thing...Love it! Great review thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I finally got reading glasses after 4 months of not being able to read or see properly, it changed everything I was so happy.
I have a tube of crimson lake from winsor and newton and ended up asking them what pigment was used. According to them theirs is also Pr83! Sadly no longer make that color but definitely a gorgeous color!
Yup, their classic one is still made that way. They do offer a permanent version too.
I'm not sure. I did see some cute palettes that had 2 wings that folded out I think.
Thanks Lindsay. Wow. Very in depth. I watched the entirety. 🥰
Thanks!
I bought this exactly when you did because the price was so low! I've been waiting for your opinion since then...I REALLY like these paints.
They are magic! I am really smitten with them!
I love your reviews and often wish they were longer 😍
Thank you! I enjoyed listening to your review.
Yea, well... it is long, but I decided to stick around and see how surprised you were when you realized you miscounted the pans in your pallet. I can't wait for you to see that their six across, and you have room for all your paints. Cheers, and thanks for the great review.
*they're.
I love this style video I’m learning so much
Absolutely fabulous review! Thank you!
I would love to see a review that includes swatching of the ShinHan Touch Brush alcohol markers that are refillable.
I'm glad you liked it!
Extremely helpful review Lindsay! I enjoy your videos and the way you present the info is always interesting. Have you seen Joly Poa on youtube? She uses Shinhan PWC for her gorgeous florals. Thanks so much for sharing.
I follow her on instagram!
I was fine just rincing mine but if they feel slippery after just rincing use soap:)
Awesome color explanation. Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Very happy!
What is LW#8 Brush? Thank you!
Yay! Thank you! BTW Turner has a beautiful (and cheap!) pBr25.
Hi Ann, I have a new brush set through craftamo: www.craftamo.com/products/lindsay-weirich-x-craftamo
@@annenglish2935 The Lindsay Weirich #8 round in her new brush set. The brushes are REALLY nice. I’ve bought a ridiculous number of brushes from cheap to expensive, these are well worth it.
@@thefrugalcrafter thank you for the Turner info, good to know!
Thanks a lot for the review. I always wondered about them, and they've been on sale for a while here in Canada, but they all look too samey to me texture-wise.
Loved the title and watched entire video.
Yep. You can get it from QoR or winsor & newton. QoR is not animal based.
Much love 💞
Draw getting full…Maybe means have enough? No, no. It means you need bigger drawers. Page Traynor
😆
Aww that's why a couple of colors are different in my set i have the swc set.
I also noticed the pwc 32 set on blick has a couple different colors. Mine might be an old set they were trying to liquadate.
You have fed the want monster. Watching this now for a second time because I have them in my cart for the right time. Along with way too many other things. 😂
Thanks for the fun review. How would the Derwent Inktense pastel set compare to the 12 pastel set from Shinhan? Super fun!
Honestly they are pretty similar and i like both so go with what colors you prefer.
I wonder if I bought a previous version of the set and that's why it was cheap. Maybe it had a typo 😆
Hi, Lindsay,
Just a quick observation.
I'm on the fence buying these. Have you compared to a few Holbein? It seems to be the exact same names.
Very similar. I prefer shinhan because it is a much better value tho.
@thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Thank you Lindsay. They are so reasonable.
I checked Amazon this morning and can not find the shinhan PWC. All I found was labeled SWC!!
WHAT is the difference?
SWC says " tint" in the product name. Does that mean anything?
Thanks, 🙏🍀🌷
Swc is the korean labelling of pwc
If memory serves me correctly, I believe that the PWC and SWC are the same paint; they are labeled according to the different markets in which they are to be sold.
I always thought SWC meant student watercolor and PWC meant professional watercolor. 🤷
Also UV spray and UV protective glass exists as well.
wondering- how would you compare these in value and quality to Mission Gold pure pigment set
Very similar, if give the edge to mission gold pure pigment tho
@@thefrugalcrafterany particular reason why?
Oh! I learned the mystery of why pink is called "peach" sometimes in Asian watercolor brands. They mean the color of the peach *blossom*, not the fruit!
Oh! Makes sence!
Where do you get those cute empty watercolor palettes?
Shawns 3d printing. Link in description:)
“Scan with transparency app” just means scan with a UPC code scanner which is automatically built into most smart phone cameras now, i know IPhone has it.
Scanning it should bring up more related information about the product for you just so you know
Thanks!
Beautiful paints!
Are these still a good deal @ 130$ for the PWC?
It's about $4 a 15ml tube so I'd say yes
Loved this NOT totally unnecessarily long and in-depth unboxing and swatching video. 🥰🤩😍 I wish I had these paints now, of course! But unlike you I don't use watercolours professionally and don't even paint as much! One day I will, though!! 😅😅😅
You don't need to do it for a living to deserve nice supplies:)
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you, Lindsay! That's what I needed to hear! 😅😄
How do they compare to Holbein to use? Vibrancy, movement? I have to limit watching the reviews so I can limit getting more palettes 😂 These look like beautiful paints 💜 Love your reviews, btw, keep them coming, I've learned so much!
Very similar
@@thefrugalcrafter thanks!

Lindsey, we talked about this at the intervention at my house. Now I'm going to have to confiscate this PWC set. It is for your own good. 😉
😆
Cool haul😎🥸
Are these paints from China?
No, Korea
The naming needs work I see. Maybe they should make them with numbers or letters, instead of “Professional” student grade? Lol.
Yeah, a bit long. But you’re a good talker, it’s not a chore to listen to you ramble about art supplies :D
Listen, the number of times I have dipped my brush in my coffee and tried to drink the dirty watercolour brushes…I have stopped now. ok I am safe with cadmium then
Woohoo! Made it to the top 10 comments! 😆 🤣 😂 😹
