Thanks for commenting. 100% agree. When someone mentions a movie I saw in theatres, it just brings me back to the experience I had. It's not the same thing when I watch one on Netflix of Amazon Prime (except the really special ones, Uncut Gems comes to mind).
Although watching a movie in theatres is not my favourite way, I do miss it being a hangout spot where you can talk about the movie after with your friends. As for whether I think they’ll die, I don’t think they will anytime soon but I think the ticket sales these next 10 years will be much less than the previous 10 years. Just think that a handful of studios will stick with the streaming services.
I miss hanging out with friends at a movie theatre but I think that whether studios will stick with it will depend on how much money they earn this year. Thanks for leaving a comment!

Zoomers don't understand the "experience" aspect, there was also the experience of going to a video rental store I miss. Just going out, browsing the titles, etc that is just lost now days
It may not be dead yet, but I'd say it's on it's way. As for myself, the last movies I watched in theater were Maverick and Elvis. The others were just I'm sorry to say, simply a badly made movie not worth wasting my time and money. Going to a theater is expensive. And the movie company must realize that if they want our money, they just need to make good movie without politics and woke stuff. It's just as simple as that. Of course people will not return if the restaurant suddenly mandately adds dark and rainbow colored sauce to their food. It's the same with the modern movie.
I don't think that theaters are dying, especially where I'm from. I'm from South Africa, and we don't have a lot of streaming services. We have Netflix and a local streaming service called Showmax, but it doesn't release a new or "straight from the cinema" movies. The only service that does that is Box Office, a rental service part of Dstv's (digital satellite television) catalog. We don't even have Disney+ or HBO max, (although we have HBO shows on Showmax) because they are not available in our country. My country can't afford to do streaming services because not everyone has access to good internet connection, so we still have satellite TV, and although it is pricey, there is still plenty of content we can access on it. And even if we had to those two streaming services, no one is going to pay extra if they have all they need on satellite. Gen Z and Millennials might opt for streaming, but that's all you get, and Dstv recently made an app so you can watch shows, sports, news and movies online, on any device, anytime, so Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max and Amazon Prime wouldn't stand a chance. Another factor of why our theaters won't be completely shut down for good is that people really still enjoy going to the movies. Most people would rather go to the movies than watch it at home, regardless of prices. If you can get enough people to watch with you, then you are covered because people love that communal experience. Our movie theaters have been hit hard by the pandemic, and lost a lot of revenue, but they are still hanging in there and surviving. They have gotten so help from the government to still operate on selective days and are still the lifeblood of malls (yes, we still have malls, and those aren't also going away anytime soon 😂), so if theaters were to dissappear, a huge part of the mall would be missing. There would also be a huge outrage. The only movie I got to watch last year was TENET, and although I didn't get to watch it at an IMAX cinema, but a subpar one, I'm still glad I got to see it the way it was supposed to be seen. 2 days after seeing it on the big screen, it came on Box Office and I rented it out and the experience was drastically different. I could understand and hear the dialogue better because of subtitles 😂, but there was one crucial thing that the cinema had that watching it at home didn't have, and I think that is how Nolan intended it to be: IMMERSION AND RETAINMENT! I could fully immerse myself in the movie and retain and focus on the film when im in the cinema. Versus when I'm at home, I'll watch it, then check my phone, then go to the kitchen and grab a snack, then later I want cake, etc., and I'd never focus on the film and just enjoy it. I'm going to watch Dune at an IMAX cinema, and even though it may cost me more to drive 50km and R300 (probably $20 to $30) but it would be all worth it. I watched Avengers: Endgame at an IMAX cinema and it was the best movie experiences of my life, and I want to experience that with Dune. Sorry if this ended up being an essay, but I do agree with you that theaters aren't dead, especially where I'm from.
